Flying (Open - attn Dana)

Amir had taken the time to change out of his dirtied clothing into something far more suitable to a night on the town. Hardly one to overdress, he'd ended up in jeans, a dark blue tee, and a button-down shirt over it. His muddied sneakers had been replaced with a different pair of casual shoes, sort of a cross between sneakers and dockers. Fairly nonspecific in his taste in clothing, he generally stuck to whatever was trendy in stores for college-aged guys.

Now, suitably attired, they were hurling down the roads through Nachton at break-neck speed. Amir hadn't had a particular destination in mind, but he stuck to the longer, straighter roads on the outskirts of the city and avoided the stops and starts of downtown. Dana had wanted to ride, and it was much more easily done when they were able to open up a little.

The winding roads brought him unintentionally to the Waterfront, which he guessed was as good a place as any for a start to the night. There was almost always something happening in the amphitheatre, or if Dana had it in mind to go sailing they could take a boat out. Not to mention the paths and walkways all through the culture center.

Tonight the lights were bright and there was plenty of activity. It sounded like some kind of concert was going on, and people were everywhere. He brought the bike to a halt out of the way, in a darker corner of the otherwise well-lit parking area, and slid off the bike, offering his hand to his passenger.

They could ride some more later, especially in the very early morning when the roads outside Nachton were quiet and nearly deserted.

Drew 14 years ago
That freaky vibe went into all out hostility and Drew just didn't quite know what to make of it. The jack ass was obviously threatening Reign and he wasn't going to let that happen and at the same time he wanted to get into a fight with this freak show but he also -knew- he should get the heck out of dodge. It wasn't often, ok never, had he picked up something this feral from a human.

He very probably would have just stayed there and possibly done something extremely dumb if Reign hadn't shouted at him.

"Andrew!"Â?

He heard her bark. Something about the tone she struck called him back to his senses. Good thing she did too, on a gut level Drew knew he was in over his head here. He was happy enough to go along with her plan, what ever it was.
Reign 14 years ago
Fucking bastard. Reign narrowed her eyes. There was something very wrong if this kid could intimidate her to this degree and there was no mistaking it, she was intimidated. Recognizing that fact let her hold her ground for all of five seconds before she tried to leash the boy. Reign could read Drew's body language well enough to know he was conflicted, obviously he wanted to get gone too but he didn't want to just run.

She half barked half growled his name and he apparently recognized what she was trying to tell him as he maneuvered his own jet ski back to her. With one final suspicious look at this 'kid' she lead them away from the other couple.

"No, I don't want to stay."Â?

She answered his unspoken question and quietly set about leading them home.

((OOC... both out.))

Amir watched the two leave before he settled back down. Once they were out of his space, he turned the jet ski and sent it flying across the water in the opposite direction, ignoring the predetermined boundaries that had been described to them at the outset. Cutting the engine and letting them bob on the waves he reined his temper in.

"They're not worth it," he muttered under his breath. he meant any number of things. Humans - they weren't worth socializing with in general and those two weren't even worth tracking down for a meal.

Well. They were just humans, after all. Amir shrugged it off and forgot about them as promptly as he could, turning his attention back to Dana. She was half-soaked, but it was a pleasant, warm night.

"Need a towel? Or are you good?"

He ran his own hand over his short hair, flicking a few stray drops into the ocean behind them before wringing out the bottom of his shirt. Had they been closer to land he might have jumped into the water to burn off some steam, but as it was this little jet ski was not a boat, and the further they got from shore the more ominous the depths beneath them seemed to him.
Dana 14 years ago
Tense and not in the least comfortable with what had just happened, Dana simply held onto the machine as Amir maneuvered them at top speed out over the ocean.

She did not know if his mutter was meant for her or not, but at the moment she chose not to answer. Instead concentrating on relaxing, half of her body was completely soaked, and was marginally uncomfortable. She played her hands across her hair, sighing as she came across snarls and tangles. This was not an acceptable thing to her at all.

No she was not good, she needed a comb, and a towel and a dry change of clothes. She was very close to tears and did not care to disgrace herself with such thing in front of Amir. It was a bit to early to show him all the crazy hidden inside of her.

Taking a deep breath, she began to comb her fingers through her hair.
"I'm alright."

Her voice was not as firm as she would have liked it, but repeating herself to sound the way she wanted to, would only make it worse. Sighing, she continued to comb her fingers through her hair. She could do nothing else for the moment.

Dana didn't sound all right, but Amir wasn't sure exactly what had upset her. The humans? Had his display shocked her? He wasn't sure what kind of support he could offer her in this situation, and he couldn't see her face very well from where he was.

Standing, careful not to rock the jet ski overmuch, he slid from the seat and carefully placed one foot in front of Dana's. Spinning lightly, he kicked his free leg over the front panel of the jet ski, coming to rest opposite her, half-standing, half-leaning against the machine's handles. He crossed his arms for lack of a better place to put them and tilted his head at her.

He watched her face for a few moments and then turned his head to look up at the night sky.

"We aren't playing hide and seek still, are we?"

He glanced down at her, smiling softly, previous irritation forgotten. She could answer if she chose. He wasn't going to force her, but in the end if she wanted tog et something off her chest, it was best to speak up. He'd meant to talk to her, seriously, but earlier this evening it hadn't been the right time. Perhaps now was. Or, maybe they would never find a good opportunity for it. He didn't believe that though.
Dana 14 years ago
Dana was very still as Amir Moved, she had no desire to end up in the ocean completely. It took her a few long moments to look up at him. Her fingers had yet to stop their neurotic combing through her hair.

"You'll think me quite silly."

A soft sigh escaped her as she looked up at Amir's gently smiling face. It did no good to hide from him now, he knew everything else about her, well just about everything else.

"My hair is a mess, my clothes are wet, and while those things may be trivial, I'm very bothered by their disarray."

There she;d said it and her voice only wavered a little and the tears gathering in her eye did not spill over. Perhaps she should be upset by all that had happened, but found the dishevelment was far more bothersome.

The humans were all but forgotten and she knew Amir would not hurt her, so she had let her unease there go as well.
Amir 14 years ago
He listened to her brief explanation and considered it seriously. Amir was a fan of having things neat, or at the very least organized. Apparently Dana was of a similar frame of mind.

He sank down in front of her so their legs were touching, for the seat of the jet ski was far too small to maintain a more polite distance. He reached out and combed her wet hair with his fingers, his smile growing. He gave her his solution, as his own mind would want it done.

"So. You are neither dry nor wet." He shrugged. "Your hair is pretty either way, and your clothing was meant to get wet. You can either go change, or you can get all the way wet. Halfway is... disorganized."

Amir nodded, reinforcing his opinion. He was mostly soaked, having taken the previous splashing full in the face, but were he in Dana's position he probably would have suspended his misgivings about the water depth by now and dunked himself.

"And if silly was a bother, I wouldn't have been playing games with you a few hours ago."

He didn't think Dana was silly. They all had their quirks. One couldn't live for centuries and not develop a few. He lifted his shoulders. "Everyone has something," he said by way of reassurance. "Why should it matter what I think, anyway? You are you. If we continue to see each other you will learn about me too, and if my little idiosyncrasies bother you, well, you aren't worth having around and I am not worth hanging around with."

As usual, Amir didn't sugarcoat his opinion. He gave Dana only the advice he took himself. He took her at face value, and he expected most people to take him the same way. He didn't live on others' opinions. He liked Dana very much, for example, but he wasn't about to go on hanging on her every whim. Perhaps that was why his friends were few and far between, he reflected, but that didn't bother him. The ones he had, he was sure of.
Dana 14 years ago
She gave him a little room as he sank down onto the seat, their legs touched in a cozy kind of way that made her smile a little. Her fingers stilled as his began to comb through her hair. His smile relaxed her as she listened to his solution. It was the same as her own, how interesting.

He was a surprising man, most saw her quirks as silliness or childish. She had considered them that way herself for a while. Though it had taken both Lady Erin and Sebastian to convince her otherwise.

"Thank you." What more was there to say? He had a way of putting things exactly the way she had them in her head, it was uncanny really.

If they continued to see each other? That could mean so many things. She did not believe that one should not speak ones mind, but she often kept her opinions to herself. Generally because giving an opinion often meant attention was drawn, and as she didn't like to draw attention, she rarely gave her opinion. Now however she wanted Amir's attention, a great deal of his attention as a matter of fact.

"Amir?"

Her head tilted to one side, as she afforded herself an opportunity to really study the man before her.

"I'd like very much to get to learn much more about you. Perhaps we should talk about that."

She smiled at him, it was one that let him know she was serious about this particular line of conversation, but also very happy about it as well. She knew they needed to talk about the familiarities they had already taken with each other as well as what direction they wanted to take this relationship. Though she wasn't sure if the middle of the ocean was the best place for such a conversation.
Amir 14 years ago
Amir didn't particularly acknowledge Dana's thanks; he didn't see his words as anything to be thankful for. He was just making observations. His words seemed to calm her some though, whatever the reason. and he did admit to himself that he liked being able to help her.

When she said his name, as if it was a question, he raised his eyebrows.
"Yes?"

Her next words made him laugh softly. No wonder he felt close to her; between the way they'd met and the fact that their minds seemed to work alike, she was already a friend, and then some. Dana's words seemed to imply more questions though. Perhaps they should? No, they definitely should. Why was she questioning still? Did she want to discuss this here and now, or go someplace else?

"Speak your mind, Dana," he said gently, encouraging her to make her point. "Get dry, or get wet." It was said with a slight grin. "Don't get stuck halfway."

He would be perfectly happy to find a better way to characterize their relationship. Amir didn't like grey areas and that was exactly where they were now. Not quite lovers, not quite friends, stuck somewhere between the two, it was an uncomfortable position for him. He like order and definition.

Perched on the seat of the jet ski, facing Dana, Amir waited for her to speak again. He was generally honest with his clanmates - or at least with those he liked. Whatever she asked, he'd do his best to answer.
Dana 14 years ago
Wasn't it interesting that she had to go half way around the world to find herself, and in the searching, come across something she did not know she was looking for? She'd had no intention or need for a companion. At least she did not think she did, not before coming to America and not now. But it seemed fate had other things in mind for her.

She had spoken in a way that took the ball from her court as it were and he saw through it and gave it squarely back to her. She wasn't sure what to do with it now. No that was not true, if she were honest with herself she knew exactly what to do with it. It was not the most comfortable thing for her. But who was it that said 'one can not explore by staying home?' She needed to be uncomfortable, she needed to break out of the molds that had been built around her. She needed to be the girl that went chasing the king's son.

That was the person she had been seeking when she left her home and it seemed Amir was going to be part of her finding her.

"I want to get wet."

She smiled a bright, revealing smile. "I want to do more than share small embraces with you. I want to know you in every way imaginable. It is not enough for me, this middle place we are in."

She reached out and touched his arm. "I did not set out here to find friends, or lovers, or anyone for that matter. I set out to find myself, to tap into the great potential I know is there.

I want to explore, and learn, try everything this world has to offer. I should have done so long long ago" She shook her head and spoke softly, "I will not make excuses for myself, it is done with now."

Clear blue eyes returned to the fathomless depths of the gaze before her. "I want you. I can not make it more plain than that. What I need to know is, what do you want, Amir."
Amir 14 years ago
Amir listened to Dana's passionate words. They warmed him, for he had been raised and groomed to help others reach the point Dana was trying to get to. There were some who moaned and lamented their lot and others who took this great gift for themselves and gave nothing back to their family. Dana, for all he'd seen of her so far, seemed neither of those. She wanted to be a part of Anantya, and she seemed to understand that she was both an individual and a part of a greater whole. It was a difficult understanding to come by but she seemed to have done so naturally, and he respected her, liked her, for it.

She hadn't asked him for more than he was willing to give, either. He noted that particularly. She hadn't asked for commitments, for foolish promises, for things he would not, could not, offer her. She was such fun - naaive and worldly at the same time. Sheltered in some ways, experienced in others.

Amir gave her words grave consideration, but his silky smile never left his face.

"It's been a very long time since someone has wanted to know everything about me," he said, when she finally sat there, looking at him, waiting for him to respond.

It had been, too. Amir had relationships with only those close friends and Clanmates who knew him well enough not to expect the moon and the stars. The last one had been, oh, three hundred years or so. He needed to make it clear to Dana though, even though she already seemed to understand, that there were some things he couldn't do.

"I have enjoyed meeting you, and I look forward to your company. I would like to know you better as well," he said, taking her hand in his.

"You're reminding me not to get too comfortable with what I know," he said, with a rueful tone. "I still have much more to learn about the world, and about people. I would like to be there with you when you explore."

He sighed, though, because the hardest part was yet to come.
"But... you know my duty is to my Clan. It has always been to Anantya. Anantya made me what I am, gave me this life. If she calls, I will answer. Every time."

Amir didn't take his gaze away from Dana. "That has caused - problems, in the past," he said tactfully. "This is so quick, so unexpected, and yet so welcome. I don't want to hurt you, though. If you want to walk away, it's all right. But to know me, you have to understand what drives me."

He bent close to her, cupping her face gently between his hands. "Be a friend, or be a lover," he said softly. "But whatever we are, let us be honest."

There would never be anything in Amir's life that came before duty to Anantya. But to have a lover who understood and accepted that, who could enjoy what they had together without the need for complete devotion and utter commitment - Amir didn't think such a thing was possible but he was willing to try.
Dana 14 years ago
He made her feel better, but she wasn't sure that had been his intent. But his words made her feel comforted all the same. Right up until he began to talk about duty and walking away.

Dana had no frame of reference for these kinds of things, but it seemed to her that they way he described things was the way they should be. Why did he seem to be apologizing to her for it?

She leaned her cheek into his hand, smiling.

"You are who you are. I do not wish to change that. Why would anyone try?"

That concept was beyond her, and not one she particularly wanted to grasp.

"It is right that you, and indeed I, should put Anantya before whatever else may come." She had always put duty before herself, Lady Erin's will was her own. Now that she was here and able to serve again, she would continue to put duty before all else. How could she not, she knew nothing else.

Granted she did not know enough about the world outside of "The Court" and Lady Erin's home, to make vows of always and never, but she did know what was right and proper and would do those things. Would do them even when she knew enough to make those kinds lasting of statements.

"Then with honesty." Her smile changed only a little turning into something inviting as desire burned in her eyes. "Amir, I'd like very much to be both friend and lover."
Amir 14 years ago
Well, no one could say Dana hadn't understood what she was getting into. Amir wasn't about to reject either her friendship or her companionship, not when it had been so long, and not when he wasn't sure he'd ever met someone so compatible.

Her words were sensible; the kind of words he would have said. Indeed, a reiteration of his own. Whoever Lady Erin might be, however she might have sheltered her child, she had at least instilled in her the right values. They were the only values Amir could accept.

Dana's smile had changed to something far more sultry, as she looked at him from where she sat facing him, a pretty porcelain ghost under the waning moon. He nodded at her, his agreement silent as he dropped his hands to her waist and lifted her with ease to close the distance between them. The seat of the jet ski was narrow and he settled her, legs on either side, nearly in his lap.

Close-up, he took a moment to admire the contrast of her cream and rose beauty to his own dark gold tones. His hands were shadows across her skin; her eyes lit his way down to her cheeks, her lips, as he brushed them each lightly with soft kisses.

Something inside told him to proceed with caution, that this wasn't the time to act on impulse. He wasn't sure impulse was speaking in this case though, not anymore.

Yielding to whatever power was at work, Amir spread his hands across Dana's back and held her closer still, capturing her lips more firmly with his own and letting go, losing himself for just a few delicious moments.
Dana 14 years ago
A soft sigh escaped as she returned his light kisses. These kisses felt different, as though just talking made him more available. It charmed her that he was so careful with her.

Dana moaned softly, letting her body mold to his, pouring herself into the kiss. It was enough to give herself to the moment. She was not small enough to think this meant more than a sharing of the moment. She knew enough about Amir and herself to know that this was no more than it seemed, he nor she had hidden motives or agendas behind their actions.

What a lovely thing. It had not been such with any other lover in her life, save perhaps Gerald, but he belong to Lady Erin and so their relationship was never a personal private thing.

With some reluctance she pulled back from Amir's tender lips.
"Let's get off the water. I'd rather not drown when learning."

Her lips curled into a grin, just before she pressed another kiss to his lips.
Amir 14 years ago
Dana's pliance in his arms spoke of more delicious things to come, and Amir smiled as her soft moan reached his ears. It was a wonderful sound, and a wonderful feel, having her elfin body melded to his. When she pulled away he released her, brushing the pad of his thumb across her cheek.

Her request was met with a dry chuckle. She had no idea how truly he agreed with her sentiments, although he imagined at some point she would.

"You don't need to suggest it twice," he said with conviction. He slid Dana from his lap, hands caressing her legs every inch of the way, and then stood and turned to re-seat himself on the jet ski. Powering it back up he felt her slip her arms around his waist and press herself up against his back. Knowing she was secure, he whipped the jet ski in a tight circle and headed back to the dock.
