White Sleigh (Rules Within)

A brilliant white team of horses toss their heads as small puffs of steam issue from their noses. Their driver checks their harness and then climbs back upon the sleigh, inviting you aboard for an hour-long ride through the park and preserve. The tumbled hay is inviting and soft, and as the horses move off in perfectly matched stride, the bells on their breastplates jingle airily with a high pitched tinkling sound. Muffled hoofbeats and the shoosh of the sleigh's runners are the only sounds as the crowd of guests disappears behind you and you're carried in the warm hay through the preserve.

"We don't have to sing at all. It's not a big deal."

Joey laughed again. He enjoyed Ana's reaction, it was something new about her and so he liked finding out about her inability to sing and reluctance to flaunt that.

"It was merely a suggestion."

Joey looked around them and to the front of the sleigh he could see the lights and hear the sounds of the festival again.

"It looks like we're almost to the end of our ride. How 'bout I sing to just for you?"
Montana 17 years ago
"If you keep procrastinating, the sleigh ride's going to be over and no one's going to be singing at all." Sticking her tongue out briefly at Joey, she smiled as she retrieved her wayward muscle. Then his face dipped suddenly towards her own, a look of mischief mixed in with the 'wanna kiss NOW!' expression, and Ana backed up just enough to start the first verse.

"Jingle bayels, Jingle bayels, jingle all the waaaayyy... Oh wut fun it is to riiide in a big honkin white sleigh, ay!" Her cheeks warmed up with embarassment as she continued the second line, "Dashing through the snow... In a big honkin' white sleigh... Oar the feeeelds we gooo, laughing all the way," and a kid in the background piped up with the 'ha ha ha ha ha', "Bells on bobtail ring, making spirits bright, oh what fun it is to sing a slaaaaaying song tonight, OH!" And the pointed-elbow little boy lay across her lap and put his hand against her mouth - still cold with snow, Ana squeaked - and sang it for her. "Jingle bells, jingle bells..."

After the first full verse and two repetitions of the chorus had completed, Ana looked up at Joey.
"See? It's pretty bad when even the kids won't let me sing, isn't it?"
Joey 17 years ago
"Okay, okay. I give!" His head dropped back and he laughed a good deep belly laugh that used every part of his body. It had been much too long since he's been this happy and he was beyond grateful that it was Ana that was giving him such enjoyment.

"Though I was thinking more like..." He pulled her close and put his cheek to her hatted head, his lips just above her ear. "Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful, and since we've no place to go, let it snow. Let it snow. Let it snow." His singing voice was a low baritone, that rasped on the vowels. It wasn't a terrible voice and he was only a little off key on the long notes.

"It doesn't show signs of stopping. And I've bought some corn for popping. The lights are turned way down low. Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" His face dipped down a little and he placed a soft kiss on the top of her ear.

"When we finally kiss goodnight. How I'll hate going out in the storm! But if you'll really hold me tight. All the way home I'll be warm." He repeated the soft kiss, this time further down her ear.

"The fire is slowly dying. And, my dear, we're still goodbying. But as long as you love me so. Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" As he sang the last word the sleigh pulled in to the queue area. Joey placed a kiss on Ana's neck just below her ear. Carefully he slid around her and stood, his hands never leaving her body. He slipped those hands into her's and pulled her gently to her feet.

"Where to now, Miss Ana?"
Montana 17 years ago
Still trembling from the effect his voice had on her insides and and the gentleness with which he pulled her to her feet, she simply pointed down the now-open gate to the steps down to the ground. Holding her hand tightly as she descended, Ana looked up at Joey when he alighted from the sleigh. Finally trusting her voice, she asked him, "Target or are you hungry? For dinner, or maybe something more substantial than a snack?"
Joey 17 years ago
"I could eat. Why don't we just pick up a couple of pizzas on the way?"

Joey put his arm around her shoulders, and gave her a quick one armed hug, then slid his hand back across her shoulders, down her arm to her hand. He picked up their skates from the bottom of the stairs, near the attendant, and slung them over his shoulder. They walked hand in hand to his Jeep and he opened her door, then slung the skates in the back before climbing in himself.

He buckled his seat belt, then turned to look at Ana.

"In case I forget to tell you later, I had a really great time. Thank you for spending Christmas with me Ana. Target and then pizzas?"
Montana 17 years ago
"Pizzas? Plural? I'll only eat two, -maybe-" - that was said with her customary rasp - "three slices tonight. Are you trying to stock my fridge for a week?" Ana had a hard time keeping her hand still, held in Joey's between them as they walked. Part of her wanted to skip and swing her arm in glee, but the rest of her kept saying 'you'll only make yourself fall, you clutz.' She decided discretion was the better part of 'not going to the hospital' and settled for bouncing lightly on the balls of her feet as they walked.

She looked at him funny when he didn't help her into the Jeep this time (he had when he'd picked her up at home) but he was throwing the skates in the back before he walked around to the other side. Ana got in with only a little difficulty and sat and buckled and waited for Joey to enter as well. Sarcasm in her voice, a twinkle in her eye she asked
"Are we going to sit here all night, or do I have to drag you out of your seat and drive?"

He had the satisfaction of watching a smallish child cringe, had they been alone he might have taken it a step further and bared his fangs. However, with Belle along he had to be a moderately good boy.

He let her sooth him, to bring him back to the moment and keep him from going off worse than he had. It didn't even seem odd she was able to do that and that he was willing to accept it.

"Distinguished huh? Still no excuse for throwing frozen water at a guy."Â?

Possessively wrapping an arm around her as she snuggled back up against him Ambrose considered.

"I'm not saying I wouldn't have, but I can still blame them. I was having plenty of fun of my own."Â?

It was easy enough to hear the leer in his voice.

He tucked her cloak more securely around Ysabel, not that she could catch ill from the cold but it seemed right. Watching as the other couples left he raised his own eye brow.

"Was it something I said?"Â?
Ysabel 17 years ago
"Not at all," Ysabel pointed out sensibly. She offered Ambrose a coy little smile. "It's not my fault you're too preoccupied with revenge and snuggling to know when we're back at the start."

She stood and held her hands out to Ambrose as he blinked in surprise and looked around. They were indeed back at the mounting block by the lake, and it seemed there was another line of eager sleigh-riders ready to go.

"Would milord do me the honor of escorting me to the pavilion for some cider?"

“I think I liked it better when we were alone.”

Of course, there was a line and they wouldn’t get the sleigh to themselves so it wouldn’t do any good to lurk about here any longer.

Feeling oddly romantic, he nearly picked her up but stopped, some how he didn’t think Belle would approve of such an action. So he settled for firmly taking her hand.

“Of course. Did you really think I wouldn’t?”
