Personal History (Please be detailed, this creates your basis for your character)

Born into aristocracy, Morrigan was part of a noble and warlike people known as the Keltoi (the Latin Celtae). The Romans spent centuries in vicious warfare with her people and had long feared and admired their courage although they disliked the terrifying war spirit of the Celts and the fact that their women fought alongside their men.

The king of the Iceni struck a deal with the Romans after they invaded his lands to serve Rome while still ruling his people. Through Rome, he received military protection, funding, education, and employment as well as slavery and serfdom. A few years later, he and Morrigan were married and she bore two daughters. His death came roughly ten years later and left Morrigan, then known as Boudicca, became regent of the Iceni and guard to her daughters' inheritance.

In the king's will, lands, personal possessions, and monies were left to the Emperor of Rome (Nero), but the remaining monies and property were left to his wife and daughters. The things left would not only assure a dowry to their future husbands, but would also assure that their Roman taxes, tributes, and salaries were paid until such time. Believing he'd safeguarded their inheritance by making a huge sacrifice to the Emperor, the King of the Iceni died without worries.

Shortly after the king's death, Roman representatives were dispatched to sieze all of his belongings. In the Romans' law, it was illegal to impart personal wealth to others in a will over the Emperor. The Romans sieged and forced the Iceni nobles from their lands, homes were plundered and destroyed, and family members were humiliated, mistreated, and sold into slavery. Among outrages, Rome suddenly demanded immediate repayment for monies granted for the beneficial upkeep of Roman life in the Iceni court. The funds to repay these 'loans' were not available; everything was seized as property of Nero.

Morrigan (Boudicca) was made entirely responsible for all the debts in her regency of which she could not pay as her belongings had been siezed as well. The Romans sought to make an example of her and she was taken hostage, stripped, and "put to the rods" in public, while her daughters were removed and raped by Roman soldiers. This they called Roman rule. No crime had been done to the Romans to merit reproach to the Iceni tribe other than the death of their king and the distribution of his funds to his daughters.

Regaining her daughters, Morrigan returned to her people. At the time there were many small ongoing rebellions taking place. Those tribes that never surrendered to Rome put force behind the Iceni outrage and thus tribes that had traditionally been locked in feud with one another over the centuries ended up joining Morrigan/Boudicca when she called for war.

Amassing an army of over 100,000, Morrigan led her first attack on a colony of retired Roman officers and their families. The battle lasted for several days and the city was completely destroyed, set ablaze, and all of its inhabitants were slaughtered; Boudicca moved on.

Marching her army on, Morrigan took what is now known as London and razed it to the ground. Those who were taken captive were shown no mercy. The most gruesome act was when they hung up naked the noblest and most distinguished women and then cut off their breasts and sewed them to their mouths in order to make the victims appear to be eating them. Afterwards they impaled the women on sharp skewers run lengthwise through their entire body. London was burned by a fire so hot that it melted the remains into a layer of red clay 10 inches thick in places which rests just fifteen feet below its modern streets. The army pressed on and took more cities. The devastation was most apparent as the army's intent was not to take slaves, but the pure slaughter of anyone and anything tied to the Roman empire.

At the final battle, Morrigan gave a speech in which she said "If you weigh well the strength of the armies, and the causes of the war, you will see that in this battle you must conquer or die. This is a woman's resolve; as for men, they may live and be slaves." Heavily armed yet appearing tired and injured in her clan tartan, Morrigan was said to appear almost terrifying. Families of the army were poised on the edges of the battle preparing for a victory that did not come. The sheer number of raging Celts could not stand against the Roman tactics and the army fell. As the final Roman soldiers closed in against Morrigan's army, they pinned her people against their own families and completed the slaughter.

Strong and determined, Morrigan survived the final battle but was taken by the Roman soldiers for a proper execution. Rather than give the Roman Emperor his satisfaction by taking her life, Morrigan prepared to poison herself and rob him of his victory. In her final moments in her cell, a man dressed in a dark robe entered. Morrigan was sure he was not Roman but was confused as to how he was able to bypass the guards at her cell. The man offered her a proposal: rather than drink the poison from the bottle near her lips, drink from his veins and enjoy watching the fall of the Roman empire without the bane of mortality. Ever bent on vengeance, Morrigan was intrigued. All sense told her what this man offered could not be possible, but her knowledge of the druids from her homelands and the mystical workings of the world drew her to believe his words.

In those brief moments, Morrigan was turned. The guards outside her cell looked in to find her alone and writhing on the floor. And all went black. When stating the events to their superiors, the guards could only recall Morrigan's pain and then nothing at all. She had disappeared from the room save for an empty poison vial on the floor. In order to hide their failing from the emperor, the guards substituted Morrigan's missing body for a similar woman's corpse. The emperor, having never actually met the Queen of the Iceni, took it as truth when his soldiers reported her as dead due to self-poisoning.

Not much was learned from her creator after Morrigan's escape from the Romans. He gave her a short briefing on what she had become and warned her of possible shortcomings. Her creator never gave his name, but referred to himself as the "father of the night children".

Keeping to the shadows, Morrigan gently lead her kinsmen to their final victory over the Romans when they sacked Rome in 410 AD and caused the final collapse of the empire proper. Her goal achieved, Morrigan travelled the world to find some of her new siblings. A morbid fascination with the Romans and their descendants developed and Morrigan found herself always watching them and doing what she could to keep them from regaining much power while staying out of sight.
