Nooooooo...who would they slay??? Surely not pretty lil ol me...or Aishe...though there is one woman...
Alec Devereaux 17 years ago
Ellis? :P
Fiona 17 years ago
now who would want to do that?

I suppose it should be pointed out that there's no rule that says vampire slayers aren't allowed. However, it would take a good deal of backstory-writing and thought to come up with a plot that worked; the fact of the matter is vampires are some strong bitches. Little buffy-ass teenagers can't generally go around knocking them off without someone taking offense.

So it's not that it isn't allowed or wouldn't be considered if the character were very well-thought-out. It just... hasn't been, yet.

Hey hey, I'm really very nice =( We had someone who started a bio with the vamp slaying in mind, but disappeared =x

Wow good people thanks.

Can I perhaps purpose that we do a think that has a syndicate of slayers that come to town? They have gotten wind that a large number of vampires are in this city of ours. And as they blindly hate the “damned creatures” they hunt them down.

We could create a one (sacrifice) vampire to be offed by the slayers…

Advantage to the idea:

Drama and intrigue added to the city life.
Something the traditional vampire can fuss over in conversation

Disadvantage to the idea:

Some work in character development
New category for bios (slayer/ killable vamps)

I’m new here so tell me to shut my trap if it sounds stupid.

First you'd have to explain their knowledge of vampires. 'Getting wind' of them isn't nearly enough of an explanation. Explain these 'group' of slayers as in create a bio for them, every single one that is to be a main character.

But on a personal level, not speaking of staff - I don't like the idea of creating another character bio for just 'slayers'. That's not my concept of the board and, again for me, it would drastically change the original idea of the world we spent too many months creating.

*nods* Speaking for myself, I feel we already have a section where you could create a vampire slayer - the human section. A few people (heh) have even created vampires in the business of slaying other vampires, so that's another option.

The main thing is having a good explanation for a human to know about vampires. Additionally, one would have to explain how it is that they have managed to not only survive, but emerge the victor in a conflict with a vampire. And then there is the fact that if a hunter were going around killing vampires eventually the clans would pick up on it and then the hunter would become the hunted. It's not the easiest choice of character paths.

The difficulty with a group of concerted hunters is that they would come to the attention of the vampiric world very quickly, and have to face the hunters of Anantya, the hit squads of Tacharan and...um...Christian Bern (tee hee). Hunters would be a threat to the hidden nature of the vampire, and since they would likely be considered by all but maybe Ellis to be too dangerous a tool to take control over, they'd get stamped out quickly. A lone hunter would have better luck, but would face the problem of being much weaker than the prey...but the solitary nature would add to mobility and they might be able to slide under the respective radars.

Just keep in mind that each of the clans has a means of dealing with information leaks and potential threats, and they've kept their secrets for thousands of years in the case of Anantya.

Umm...odd. When I posted I didn't see that Thaddeus had already said it. Uh...echo....echo......echo.........echo..........

well that sums it up... All is well in our fair city... on with the show

Don't forget there's no higher concentration of vampires in Nachton than in any other city in the world. So the only really distinguishing fact about the vampire population of Nachton, is that it just happens to be the place where the clan heads hang out.

got ya.... the nays have it

I am not sure that its a simple "nay" answer. But if someone would wish to go though the work of creating characters, backstory and actively playing this out thats fine. You may find support for it, you may not.

Honestly the problem I have with slayers would be that I do not see vampires as evil and slayers would be categorizing them as such. Sure there are evil vampires around, but there are more good balancing it out. There are also evil humans and good humans.

Also there are some deep plots here in Nachton. Will Ellis recreate her band of killers or go after Simon? Will the council slap Simon on the wrist or congratulate him for the displacement of Ellis? How will Sorin deal with those investiaging his connection to Lykos? Will Wren flip out when she discovers Drevs secret? When will the weres arrive and how will this impact the vampire clans? Will Nic ever stop being such a womanizer? (heheh that one cracks me up!)

There are a lot more things happening, they just are subtle rather than overt like a big battle. I think the one thing beings living hundreds or thousands of years know, that no good comes from all out combat. Only death.

You know Wren is going to go postal. *snerk*

I think the vampire slayer can be done, but as said before it must be done carefully.

It would be interesting to have a Dhamphir type of person, but their life would be spent looking over their shoulder and most of their RP would be violent. Nothing wrong with that. I like me a bit o' violence.

Experience tells us that this character would not live long as mortal or vampire. Somebody's going to stake that fool out in the sun.

Though it would have to be remembered that only very few can tell a vampire from a human, with out intimate knowledge of that person. They don't smell different, taste different, or feel different. Truthfully this hunter would have to be adept at getting the vamps to flash fang and we don't do that to anyone but those we -know- are vamps or our victims.

I had this whole Evil vs. Predator thing typed up, but I just PM'ed it to Cyrus instead, because well...this is so not a debate. *snort*

A Dhampire would get an actual no though. Someone asked about that in the very beginning and according to how our vampires are made they wouldn't happen.

We have geared the board more towards vampire and human relations without hunters as time has gone on. In the beginning of the board it was far more possible for us to entertain the idea and give them a place but those people who had considered running a hunter never played.

For instance, not being able to sense vampires would be a hinderance to a hunter but this was done to make it harder for the large amount of vampires on the board to sense each other. This way they have to interact with every new person as a potential unknown.

Humans not being able to resist vampire powers ( and no...they can't no matter how wonderfully tough the player believes them to be ) was not meant to cause problems for someone playing a hunter but to keep the growing human population from saying... Nope, you're awesome power of mind control power doesn't work on me because I say so.

*Of course no one should be using any powers without asking anyway and the human would have a right to demand an edit or simply leave the thread if such liberties were taken*

The jist being, the board as evolved away from the type of board where it would be easy to run such a thing.

When I originally created Serena I had planned on her being a hunter since The Powers That Be shot down her being part vamp / dhampire. With her hatred of vampires from her mom's death she had motivation and knowledge but I lacked the desire to go through with it. Next I thought ab out Winter turning her but that would have drivin her completely insane.. and while a fitting companion for Winter then, not what I wanted. Personally I think a good vampire hunter would be interesting to see done but the problem comes with interactions. If you go around asking people if they're a vamp you'll get a private room at the funny farm, or a neck wound to kill ya. And no one is going to want to have a hunter kill off one of their charcters (I wouldn't at least!). So you can content yourself with hunting and killing NPCs or well.. be a very unsuccessful hunter.
