1. Describe your character's personality : Mercurial. Seriously intent one minute, laughing and teasing the next. Serena is focused, methodical and practical. She just can't help the occasional distractions of fun and a good time. You know, base jumping, blowing things up, street racing. The simple things 
She's a bit bossy, a little cocky and always curious.
2. Describe how your character would appear to a stranger (I.E. typical dress, way they carry themselves etc.) Dress varies on the occasion and her mood. Sometimes a flirty dress and heels or a t-shirt and jeans. She exudes confidence, almost always in a good mood. She grins big, laughs loud and is boisterous with an infectious kind of good mood.

Personal History
She is the only child of Jon Moreau and Carlotta Russo-Moreau, both of whom were active United States military. Her mother was actually from a long line of decorated soliders, even if she was the first female member of that line. (According to Serena, that line also ends with her mother. She has no desire to be in the service.)
Born in Germany, they lived there until Serena was about 10. Those last couple of years were dark days, filled with her parents fighting and her mother slowly going insane, not that Rena knew it at the time. Her parents split, and her mother was discharged soon afterwards for what she later found out were phsychological reasons.
Her Mom bounced around Europe doing odd jobs as a merc, dragging Serena with her. She was obsessed with vampires, babbling to Rena about them sometimes, pleading with her daughter to understand why she sought them out. Serena started a journal of all Carlotta's ramblings. She figured it would come in useful to prove her Mom's mental state, and in getting herself emancipated when she was old enough. Or maybe she would write a novel about all the crazy things her mom claimed. It kept her sane, let her seperate reality from her mom's illusionary world.
Rena's mother was killed when she was 14. The only next of kin on that continent, she was the one able to view and identify the body. It was shocking and violet, a sight that still gives her nightmares.
Her Dad wasn't able (or willing) to take her in so she was sent to be raised by her mother's father. Her grandfather, Col. Anthony Russo (retired), was one of the chief commanders at Elgin Air Force Base in Florida. He is a highly decorated and respected man who, unknown to most, at one time was a familiar.
She found out that her Mom hadn't been crazy when she found a picture of her mother not much older than her, with her grandfather and the same strange man she remembered seeing her Mom with all the time when they were still living in Germany. The one her Dad and Mom had fought over so much he'd accused Carlotta of having an affair with. Not too odd except the man looked exactly the same 15 years later. When she asked her grandfather about it and explained where she'd seen him she hadn't expected him to be so upset and to rave so much before he explained who and WHAT that man was. Of course from then on she blamed him for what happened to her mother.
The next 4 years were hard on Serena. She lived with a stern taskmaster who was military to the core and treated her accordingly. Like most teenagers she rebelled in every way possible short of being arrested.
It could be blamed on her rebelliousness that she became involved in all kinds of extreme sports, or it could be a death-wish. Col. Russo gave up trying to figure her out or stop her. Nowdays he has almost nothing to do with his wild and "irresponsible" grandaughter.
Thanks to government programs and grants she went to college and got a degree in Computer Science. She had almost no interest in the practical applications but she'd decided the ability to gain access to high security information would be useful in her vendetta against vampires.
She knew a lot about vampires, at least everything her Mom had ever mentioned. That put her on the path to learning more. When a connection between the vampire society and Dubine Industries came up several times she made it her business to get a job there. Serena's been with the company 3 years now, maintaining a low profile (trying to avoid any vampire's attention). She's made friends with several familiars, getting information and learning about the Tacharan.. Especially that one strange man who spurred her mother down the path she took.
