It had been a rough couple of days since she had last seen Julian. A client came to her, escorted by one Nothos werewolf who had traded one human gang for a werewolf pack. His friend was being accused of murder involved in gang related violence. The human swore he was innocent and his friend believed him. The guy, Peter, swore that he had been several blocks away casing an apartment complex for the much more reasonable crime of breaking and entering. He says that he was out in the small courtyard looking up at the rows of windows looking for the hopeful signs of someone dumb enough to leave one cracked while they away. He said a teenage girl bowled him over with several bags of stuff on her way into one of the apartments. Peter had leaned down to help her pick up everything she had dropped. Wasn't he such a nice guy? Surely the girl would remember him and vouch for him at the time the murder was committed.

It sounded shaky and possibly unlikely but a pack mate was asking her to help the guy.

She spent all morning tracking this potentially fictitious girl down.

Peter told her where the apartment complex was and then she went about trying to find the girl. He didn't know which one she lived in so she had to go looking around for someone to ask. After several people someone finally agreed that there was a girl who fit that description. But...

She didn't live there 'no more'.

Tavi found out what apartment she -had- lived in and then tracked down the landlord. He told her a very unfortunate thing. The girl and her mother had been evicted for being unable to pay their rent.

That left her spending the remaining few hours before going home to change checking out shelters in the area. No one remembered seeing the girl or her mother.

She would have to try several of them again around meal time tomorrow and hope for a miracle. She also had their names and could possibly find something useful in their files. Surely the girl went to school in the area. If so there were records, next of kin, emergency contacts, etc... maybe something would be useful.

The case was pretty far from her mind at the moment. She was looking forward to enjoying time with Julian, not having to think very much, and possibly spending some quality time doing things that didn't require talking either.

Tavi looked almost normal tonight. She was wearing a summery maxi dress, against all advice for what short people should wear, but it was pretty. The top halter area and the bottom hem of the dress had a riot of flowers in several shades of orange and cream. The middle portion of the dress was the same spring green as her hair which was tucked up into a messy pile high on the back of her head, tendrils intentionally left free around her face; small cream colored flowers were tucked into the updo portion, It might be a little over done for the casual movie night date but after her day she wanted to feel pretty and flirty and not like at all like a girl at home in the gritty most urban parts of the city.

She was early, just a little, because she thought Julian might be hungry and want to eat before the movie instead of waiting until after. Since she was driving she felt she could at least offer him that choice.

Walking up to his door, she knocked and then waited. She wondered idly how things had gone with his vampire friend and some guy named Evgeni last night.

Julian's eyes grew wide as he stared at Tavi. "What what?" He did a little double take. "Lose me? Because you just unleashed a barrel full of awesome? My hearing must be going. Concussion, and all."

Really he was sort of at a loss to determine which was cooler - having two hot vampires, or one hot werewolf. Both was good. Yeah, he'd like both.

As she explained the shifting thing to him, she nestled against his chest and his blood flow immediately dove south. He hummed low in his chest, tightened his arms around her, and tried not to thrust his hips at her. Surprisingly difficult endeavor; he would have thought he'd be more restrained given the ridiculous number of orgasms he'd had in the last two days. Nope. Raring to go, with one hot naked werewolf pressed against him.

He felt a stab of - something. Hurt, disappointment, he didn't know what, when she mentioned his hip. Not because of her, but because even if by some chance he were like her he would still be less than whole. Nothing could replace what he'd lost physically, just like nothing could bring his sister back. Apparently no amount of supernatural metaphysical anything could do it. He tightened his arms around Tavi, understanding her words, equally unwilling to delve into that topic tonight. It was early stages, yet. They had time to wonder about the future when they'd discovered whether or not they had a shot at one at all.

Dinner seemed a foregone conclusion, but something in her hungry tone made him let out a strangled kind of moan.
"Tavi..." he grunted softly, giving a sigh and bending down to kiss her. "...Killing me, here," he mumbled against her lips.

Very deliberately he stepped away from her, pushing her gently at arm's length. His voice continued to be strained.
"If you seriously want to get dinner, baby, please put your dress back on. Otherwise I might die. God, you're gorgeous."

It wasn't just the wolf thing. It was Tavi. All of her. She was so much fun, so sweet; he'd seen her be gruff, caring, snarky, acerbic, all of those things and more wrapped up in a pixie-like package with a large side-portion of badass werewolf. Having her snuggling up naked against him was the icing on the cake.

Bending over, bracing his hands on his knees, Julian waved in the direction of Tavi's dress, muttering to himself,
"Socks and sandals together. Blonde hair with black roots. Really poorly done manicures. Spandex. Anything Spandex."

It would work in a few seconds.

Tavi laughed, feeling a little easier about Julian's reaction with every moment that he continued not freaking out. The more Julian spoke and joked the more she was convinced that he wasn't, some time later in the night, going to have a mini melt down when he realized he was dating a werewolf. Perhaps it all hadn't fully sunk in yet but she thought that it had.

She was dangerous; she could break him in half before he had time to get out of the way but plenty of people were dangerous and she suspected that Julian knew that. The thing he also seemed to understand immediately was that she wasn't dangerous to him and that was what was important. No doubt that was what he understood about Jan and Evgeni as well. They had gone out of their way to help him and wouldn't hurt him. They could but they wouldn't. They all could but they wouldn't. Julian might be one of the safest humans in Nachton. A vampire's whatever it was wouldn't be safe from a werewolf but a friend of the pack would be and a friend of the pack who was also protected by vampires might just be safe from both groups of supernatural beings.

Julian seemed to catch both forms of hunger from her manner. She wanted him in a very real way right this very moment perhaps more than she wanted the food. Both were very strong urges right this moment. Tavi smiled against his lips and didn't move away. At least she didn't torment him further; it was tempting to rub herself against him, drag him onto the bed with her and satisfy one form of hunger before they got dressed again and took care of the other.

She really was hungry though and sex would mess up her hair.

Julian pushed her gently away and asked her to get dressed. She couldn't even pout about it when he said things that made her feel so desired. Tavi gave him a thorough look that suggested that he was on the menu for later before turning to the bed and picking up her bra and putting it on.

Sliding into the dress, she listened to his stream of words and laughed so hard that she too was bent over double, clutching her middle with one hand and wiping tears away with the other.
"Wife beater shirts, mullets, cut off shorts...cut off too short, muffin tops, plumber's crack...” Never let it be said she wasn't helpful.

"Think you can make it now or should I come up with some more?" She straightened up and tugged the dress into place and then smoothed it down with the flat of her hands. Once her shoes were back on she was ready to go. She held out a hand to him. "I am glad you know. Now let's find some food. I could eat a horse."

Julian stared at Tavi in horror as she added to his list. "I wanted it down. Not dead entirely!"

He straightened and smoothed out his jeans, at least sort of presentable now instead of sporting a raging hard-on.
"I don't know where we'll find a horse around here. You might have to settle for some sukiyaki and sushi."

He smiled, glad that Tavi wasn't as traumatized as he had feared over his revelation for the evening. Maybe once the idea settled in she'd be more okay with it. He felt a little glimmer of hope, not for the first time that night but definitely stronger than before.

Julian took her hand, kissing the back of it briefly. He reached out with his other one and smoothed her hair out, fixing it neatly.
"Okay," he said. "Want to walk? At least one way?"

They could take a cab back; he wasn't sure he was up to walking the whole way to the restaurant and the park or wherever else they went, but he did want to walk a little. Marathon sex or not, he'd been cooped up in his little studio for several days now and he wanted to stretch his legs.

He was very happy to be seen with her, too. She was beautiful. Vibrant. Dangerously sexy, although he couldn't very well go shouting that out. Dinner would promise to be fun, because, well, pretty much everything with Tavi was fun. He hoped it stayed that way for a while yet.

((ooc: both out))
