Personal Questions
1. Describe your character's personality: Jacob is polite and well-spoken. He can be very shy and doesn't always like to draw attention to himself. However beneath the quiet Asian-kid exterior, he has just a touch of bad-boy. This little streak doesn't rear its head in pubic though.
2. Describe how your character would appear to a stranger (I.E. typical dress, way they carry themselves etc.): Like any other young man. Jake doesn't dress nerdy or thug or posse or anything - jeans, tees, sweatshirts, etc. He's pretty stereotypical.
3.What does your character like? Music (many types), reading, math, computers. Movies (not huge on mushy romances). Praise, positive feedback, being acknowledged.
4. Dislike? His mother, being ignored, feeling bogged down/like he can't get ahead.
5. (For humans) Describe what abilities you see your character having if they were turned. No idea.
6. What are your fears? (please choose and explain 3 minimum)
Airplanes: One of his earliest memories is of being on a plane. He was sick with a virus the whole time and ended up spending most of the flight vomiting into tiny bags. He can't board a plane without feeling nauseous now.
Anonymity: Jake is always overlooked, never really given praise for his accomplishments. He doesn't need to win a Nobel Prize or anything, but he's afraid he might never be recognized for his achievements. Because of this, he tends to be a perfectionist, a little bit of a workaholic, and somewhat of an overachiever.
Ostracism: Jake has some preferences and habits that he knows aren't mainstream. He fears he may be discovered, labeled some kind of deviant, and outcast from his own society. He doesn't want to have to face some great struggle to fit in. He takes care to keep his personal life private.
7. What is your character's strengths and weaknesses? (please pick 3 minimum of each and explain in detail how and why this affects your character)
Strengths:
Intelligence: Jacob is incredibly smart. He graduated high school at a young age and already has one degree in college, a BS in Mathematics. He will have his Accounting degree soon as well. There is no subject in which he ever attained less than an A. He learns quickly, and that which doesn't come naturally to him he will study ferociously until he understands.
Common Sense: Jake has managed to avoid being that naïve little Asian kid who doesn't 'get' how the world works. He understands very well how people function, and tends not to make the simple errors many sheltered children do. He makes decent choices and rarely makes rash decisions.
Open-minded: Jake is open to new experiences. This puts him in direct opposition with his very close-minded parent, but Jacob wants to explore and understand the world around him.
Weaknesses:
Submissive: Jake could easily be overpowered and overshadowed by someone with a stronger body and stronger personality than him. He isn't big on conflict.
Craves Praise: Jacob has been starved for acknowledgement. He needs to be reassured that he has done a good job and will tackle almost any job that will get him a kudos. If his efforts go ignored, it will crush him and he'll get depressed and morose.
Doesn't Travel Well: Because of his fear of airplanes, Jake has a hard time traveling. He prefers cars or trains if remaining within the continental US. If he has to go by plane, he doesn't get motion sick but the association of being sick on a plane will make him nauseous, like a panic attack. Generally, his fear of flying makes him ill and miserable, which makes everyone around him ill and miserable, so he feels even worse about it.

Jake Chevalier was born the son of a French businessman and a Japanese woman in Tokyo, Japan. His mother, in charge of his upbringing, was ruthless with him. He obeyed a strict schedule of studying, studying, and more studying. He was offered very little opportunity to enrich himself beyond his music lessons.
When he was young he traveled back and forth to France frequently, but his father soon settled in Japan with his wife and son and they lived together for many years. When Jake was thirteen he moved to America with his family, and shortly thereafter his father was sent away on business quite often. Once again Jake was raised by his merciless Tiger Mother.
Jacob's mother truly wanted what was best for Jake, but forgot that children need love as well. She was a very cold, very strict woman. If Jake scored an A in one class, she would immediately move him along to the next class and expect an A in that as well. If he wanted to play tennis, he had to be the best tennis player in the class. When he began his flute lessons, he had to be the best flautist anyone had ever heard within weeks. She was rough on her son; he might have been able to endure her tough love if there actually had been some love involved.
Jake's mother and father have been estranged for some time; they aren't divorced but they are separated. Jake rarely sees his father. Because of this lack of a loving family, he has sought something different in his own relationships. He wants to be a submissive partner to anyone - male, female - it doesn't matter. He has acknowledged that there's something empty inside of him that can only be filled by performing and being rewarded for performing some act of service. He doesn't want to be humiliated or denigrated, but he will never wear the pants in any relationship because he doesn't want to. He realizes this desire is unusual, and in his mother's eyes, incredibly undesirable in a man. Jake will take any measures necessary to keep her from discovering the truth about his preferences, but he has to be this way.
Jake's best friend is his cousin on his father's side, Mina Chevalier. Her family, much more stable than Jake's, lives in Nachton and offered him room and board for college in the house they own, which Mina lives in and shares with Jake and two other girls. After great debate this was allowed and Jake was given the freedom to live on his own. At first he was very conscientious, very studious, and very worried that at any time his mother might decide to end this arrangement and drag him back home. Now that he has turned 21, she can no longer require him to live anywhere but where he wants. Slowly, he's beginning to look for what he needs to feel fulfilled. After he graduates he plans to stay in Nachton with Mina and the rest of their friends.
