Blowing off the steam (open)

Kat stood on the edge of the dance floor, letting the music erase the last hour from her mind. I still don't see why you couldn't eat him as well as kill him. A perfectly good meal gone to waste, not to mention that you stopped playing way to soon.

"Know what Maggie? Shut the fuck up."

Kat heard a raspberry in the back of her head and sighed. It was time to get sweaty, and she was quite happy to ease out onto the floor and let the music take over.

((ooc feel free to come say hi. ))

Kat grinned, with a little glint of mischief in her eyes. "Next to the Abby this is my favorite place to indulge in a bit of debauchery."

She gave a small shrug. "I've never been one to say no to a little guerrilla warfare now and again."

Kat offered Val a small look of sympathy. "That sucks. Nothing like giving someone a chance just to have them blow it."

The Abby was fine, enjoyable even and yes she did go on occasion, at least since Tai had made such a dramatic entrance but it wasn't always her cup of tea. Val didn't say anything though. She just couldn't be bothered.

She leaned back and thoughtfully regarded the woman. Kat wasn't unappealing, she wouldn't have blamed Tai if he did take advantage of her. Val's only issue was, was she worth the work. That she wasn't sure of. Equally uncertain was if she cared or not.

Well, to quote Scarlet O'Hara... she'd think about that tomorrow.

Val shrugged and rolled her eyes.

"And how ducky. Now I'll grant you it wasn't set in stone I was going to hire this palooka but I'm damned sure not now. But what are you going to do?"

Chuckling softly, she takes a sip of her slowly warming drink. "Oh, I could think of a thing or two."

She recrossed her legs and propped her elbow on the bar. "It really just depends on your reasoning behind outsourcing the job in the first place, and what the job is."

((ooc: OMgah, so sorry for taking so long, this week has been well...crazy!))

Val just smirked. It wasn't the what to do that was the problem, she always had ideas.

"Now don't you go getting the wrong idea doll I am my own ideas man, but I have a reputation too. And since he wasn't on the line yet... all I can do is be irritated."

Now, if he had bailed on her, that would be a whole new kettle of fish. But if you started playing with the people who just didn't take a job, well you'd never get -any- takers.

"It is all about the expertise, somethings I'm just not good at."

Although, between she and Tai they were very well covered. Once in a while though an consult or an extra hand was necessary. One should not sharpen skills on the job, that lead to sloppy work and being found out and Val prided herself on staying under the radar. She wasn't perfect, who was really, but she was better than average.

Hand curled around her highball glass Val pointed a finger at Kat.

"But listen good Mary Sunshine, your pedigree might be good but I have a very strict rule about resumes and references. I don't play with any one I don't know. Just in case you are fishing for a job."

((OOC... happens to the best of us. Try not to lose your mind ))

Kat couldn't help the laugh that followed Val's assertion that she didn't play with strangers. "My dance card is full at the moment, but it's good to know where folks stand. Wouldn't want to step on any toes."

She lifted the glass by its fragile stem and toasted Val. She hadn't been looking for work, and she wasn't big on working with "family" though she'd have no trouble using said "family" if need arose, but as it were, she liked the solo act just fine.

She drained the vodka from the shallow well of her martini glass, and set it down with a soft click, before giving Val a toothy grin.
"I don't know about you but I've had enough shop talk. Care to dance?"

Kat had come here to blow off steam and she still felt it billowing just below her skin, so she'd not quite had enough dancing. Her intent was not to flirt with Val, but it never hurt to make nice nice with those she did call "family."

"Toes will grow back but do not mess with the shoes."

It was just as well Kat wasn't looking for a job, and thank god she knew better than to ask what kind of job.

Well Kat didn't seem to be looking for a meal, she didn't seem to be looking for work that left only one thing really. Sure enough there was a dance invite. Val pondered it for a second. Of course it wasn't a marriage proposal, hell it wasn't a prelude to knocking boots so why not.

"Alright, you talked me right into that."

She shot back the rest of her drink slid off her stool and started to the floor, about half way there she looked back and raised an eyebrow.

"Rule about the shoes still stands."

Her arch look dissolved into a grin and a wink before Val let herself meld into the writhing mass of humanity on the floor. She might at least get something to eat.

"It would be sacrilegious to do other wise. Shoes should have their own god or patron saint, either way a divine touch should be upon a good pair of shoes."

Laughter bubbled from her as she followed in the small wake Val made into the undulating crowd of the dance floor. Once there she let her body go with the music. Kat did not mind the casual or unwitting touch of strangers, but she did not know if Val felt the same, so she made sure to keep hands, feet and other objects to herself as she danced near the red head.

Val just smiled and slid into the crowd. Some days she had no issues bumping and grinding and basically plastering herself on any one at any time. Tonight she wasn't feeling it. She was still irritated with her contact standing her up, and she'd just had Tai and so wasn't really looking for sex. Keeping as clear a view as possible of the bar she danced.

It was amazing how you could keep a bubble of personal space around you, even in a place like this. It wasn't large, but it was enough. As she twisted, turned and writhed with the masses it occurred to her she hadn't eaten yet tonight. Well there was nothing wrong with killing two birds with one stone and if she could find a meal here it would free up some time later.

There were more than a few likely bites out there, and more than a few fashion faux pas. Val amused herself being plotting her approach to the ones that caught her eye while keeping half her attention on Kat.
