He was a tall man with dark brown hair and eyes. Vitali was a clanless vampire with an interest in dabbling in human politics.

1. Describe your character's personality Evgeni can be giving and kind and selfish and vain. Sometimes he's a saint and at other times an entitled noble.

Being controlled - Evgeni has seen the effects of control his whole life and its devastating outcomes. He never wants to be told where or how to live again.

Being Alone/Together - He loathes being alone, fears it even but at the same time he has a hard time with letting someone see him vulnerable. These two needs and fears war with each other often.

Losing someone he loves - Specifically losing someone he is bonded to. It has happened before, more than once, and the soul wrenching pain of that loss makes him a wreck. This is the reason for his fear of letting someone in, despite feeling a distinct need for that close connection.


7. What is your character's strengths and weaknesses? (please pick 3 minimum of each and explain in detail how and why this affects your character)

Decisive - About many things Evgeni has a clear and unwavering opinion of what he wants or feels is necessary. He's not excessively stubborn but to change his mind you must give him good reason to do so.

Generous - There are times when he gives his all for a person. It could be a stranger on the street who's plight moved him or someone he knows but for whatever reason sometimes Evgeni can express extreme selfless behavior completely out of character from his normal state of self concern.

Intelligent - He's no mental slouch. Evgeni enjoys learning, thinking and even thinking about learning. He's quick to pick up on things as well.

Insomnia - Evgeni has trouble sleeping. In fact, it was this trouble that caused him to learn his dream walking talent. Laying there next to someone while staring at the ceiling he found himself eventually able to slide into their dream. Now it is one of the only ways he is able to sleep.

Dependent on others - For many reasons,not just the insomnia, Evgeni has a hard time being alone. He wants a constant companion but that person would need a lot of patience.

Self Absorbed - As a noble, he has come to expect things to be handed to him or done for him. Sometimes he behaves as though he is entitled. He also has turned his attention away from state craft and feels that there are few people more important for him to worry about than himself.

Mikhail's life didn't start off very well. His noble family had been exiled to the far reaches of Russia by Godunov. His father was banished to a monastery and forced to take vows there, changing his name.

At the age of sixteen, Mikhail was asked to assume the troubled throne. It was feared to be a death sentence. He was finally persuaded to take the title of Tsar and returned to Moscow. The capital was in such a bad state that he had to wait several weeks at the Troitsa Monastery. There the calm, insightful boy caught the attention of one of the local monks. Vitali followed the early reign of Mikhail with great interest. He was aware of those who plotted against the young Tsar and suggested what was supposed to be a temporary solution. Vitali, who had installed himself as an adviser to the throne, spoke with the boy's mother. Martha feared for her son's life in the tumultuous political arena and was open to Vitali's advice for keeping her son safe.

His plan was to have Mikhail, who had been in a monastery for most of his life, trade places with a cousin. Few people would be the wiser and those who did know the real Mikhail were the ones who had come asking him to reign. It was in all of their interests to see that the young man stay alive.

His cousin, Alexei Romanov took his place and Mikhail took up Alexei's name. He stayed close by as a constant unnoticed companion, advising his relative in his early decisions. Later Mikhail's farther was brought to rule jointly. Feodor, now called Filaret, continued the ruse though he talked often with his son on affairs of state. In truth, the two of them together guided Russia out of the troubled times.

However, before the peace had descended on Moscow, a plot was conceived to kill the young Tsar. Poison was placed in the food sent up to his chambers. The young impostor had been pining the day away over one of the young ladies at court. He had recently learned that she had been arranged to be married to another man. When dinner came he pushed the tray away and told Mikhail that he was not hungry. Mikhail,however, had spent the day horseback riding and was ravenous. He ate pretty much everything that had been sent up. Not much later he was writhing on the floor, foaming at the mouth. His cousin ran for help and came upon Vitali.

Seeing Mikhail in such dire straits, Vitali scooped him up and brought him to his room. There was no amount of blood that would save the boy at this close to death. That night Vitali made Mikhail an immortal.

Mikhail continued his role as adviser but started putting more distance between himself and his cousin. He eventually confided his new form to his father and they removed him gradually and quietly from public life before anyone began to question his unchanging appearance.

Vitali was clanless and took great risks by being visible so often in the political power struggles that went on in the human world. That arena tended to be the quiet war zone for the vampires that controlled from behind the scenes. Being clanless and poking your nose into the the areas that are the hunting grounds for the clans was eventually the undoing for Vitali. He was killed in an ambush by some Anantya who considered him a threat and not just for his politics.

Mikhail managed to escape notice but he learned that it helped to be allied with someone. He found the Tacharan point of view to be close to his own and eventually chose to become one of them. Safety in numbers and all that.

He recently came to Nachton and had set up as a consulting specialist for some of the crime labs. Doing a lot of late night work, Mikhail would also show up during the day if it was absolutely necessary but he made it clear that it better be damned important. (mainly because rushing a building before you start smoldering looks odd after a while) One night he was studying a body in the lab when another person entered. He knew the death of his corpse was caused by a vampire and had intended to cover it up as a matter of course. What he hadn't expected was the vampire to come and clean up the loose ends herself.

In the process she found a new toy.
