Lick the Tins (private)

Tavi rounded another corner on the trail and slowed down to an interval of brisk walking. Running, when she was doing such a thing for training and exercise and not a spur of the moment get away, was done in actual sports attire. She currently wore a grey t-shirt and shorts made of nice breathable material. However, she did feel compelled to screen print on the shirt the words "Warning:Prolonged Exposure May Cause Irritation in bright green. The only other nod to her peculiar sense of style would be the lime coloured baseball cap sporting two holes that allowed her little black pigtails to come through.

She had her ipod on and was singing the British version of "Can't help falling in love" by the band Lick the Tins.

((OOC: Because she is out running she has taken the dread falls off so her hair is currently just solid black in this thread. OMG, almost normal! She's not singing quietly but also not at the top of her lungs either. While she might never make an opera singer, she's actually pretty good and is, at the very least, on key. ))

"So wait... if we are throwing things and hitting thing what's the second date? Lighting things on fire or stealing stop signs?"Â?

OK it was a little presumptuous of him to even hint at a second date right now. They hadn't even gone on the first one yet. She could decide he was a total nut job, or she could be one. Great this could go all stalker on him. Whatever. She was fun to talk to, not hard on the eyes and taking his mind off the other women in his life.

"Huh. You know you make a good point. I'm betting those hero types were pretty vain. With all that maintenance I don't know how the found time to do anything."Â?
Hard to keep things polished and horses white and harder still to stay honest and virtuous, hell even he had lapses. Not that Drew thought of himself as a white knight or anything.

"Bribes. Had to be bribes, that's the only thing I can think of. I mean bad guys wouldn't be bad guys if it didn't pay well."Â?

Drew was suddenly struck by an urge to just pick her up and carry her the rest of the way. She was a tiny thing, he could do it without much, if any, effort. But he had a whole list of females who would have his hide if he did.

"Good. I think you'd like it. I mean it isn't big or exciting like here, there isn't much to do. But it's a good place."Â?

Octavia laughed and eyed him thoughtfully.

"Hmmm, I think after the throwing and hitting we'd be ready for clubbing. Those skills come in handy in the right places."

She hoped he was up for date two after date one. Tavi guessed she would be more optimistic after the first went well.

"That's why there was always the no named squire to do everything for them. Sucky job doing all the heavy lifting and never being more than a footnote in the fairy tale. I hope it paid well."

She laughed at his theory on how good kept winning. Tavi wondered if she should toss that idea at her father. The Kumpania could stand some good fortune. Somehow though She didn't think he would take the suggestion too well.

Tavi looked down at the road, lightly kicking a pebble out of the path.

"Well I would need a good guide. Wouldn't know anyone who knows the area would you?"

Looking up, She could just make out the parked cars through the tree line. Not wanting him to think she was one of those crazy women who started considering marriage and meeting the family at the barest hint of a relationship, Tavi changed the subject.

Pointing, she said.

"There's the parking lot." With a wicked grin and raised eyebrows she added. "Loser buys the first round of drinks."

Then she took off, not terribly fast...at least not yet.

((OOC: AND its work time... So Jin will have to come a little later.))

"I've been doing it all wrong! I knew there something off when I just kept getting black eyes and not having any fun."Â?

Drew 'lamented'. He did notice she hadn't shoot down his idea of a date two so he hadn't totally scared her off just yet. Excellent. OF course he still had a whole date to actually screw things but, but he did manage to get through the walk to the parking lot.

"That's right. I forgot about those squires. Figures people would get famous and heroic on the back of of the nameless masses."Â?

That brought a smile.

"If you like camping I just might know someone who could fit the bill."Â?

He was almost disappointed to see the parking lot. It was probably too late to gt lost again. At least he had the promise of a date later.

The challenge brought an amused grin. He guessed she was probably pretty quick, and he was carrying his bat bag slung over one shoulder which might be a pain. But Drew didn't mind a challenge. He adjusted the hold on his bag and took off after her matching her pace and then pulling slightly a head. His goal was a tie. Drew didn't believe in letting girls win just because they were girls, but he wasn't a jerk either.

Tavi snorted at his complaint. Personally, she thought it would be really hard for most people to give him a black eye; at least not accidently, which was how most of them happened in a mosh pit. Still, perhaps he was going to the -really- fun parties. Tavi could only hope so. Trouble was more fun with a partner.

She was happy to see that the request for a guide didn't raise the crazy clingy wench alarm bells. And he liked camping? Tavi was beginning to wonder where he had been all her life. So far only one thing was keeping him from being perfect and she'd sort that whole mess out further down the road. One didn't explain on date two...oh and by the way, I become a real bitch once a month. No really!

He caught up to her with very little trouble and she was pleased to see that he wasn't just going to let her win. Tavi pushed past him again, putting on a little more speed now that she knew he was going to at least try to win.

((OOC: A tie? He's so sweet! ))

Ha! She was going to be hard to gauge, not surprising if she was a regular runner. When she pushed past him he picked up the pace again. It was a little awkward with his bag slamming into him with every stride by Drew was too stubborn to let a little thing like stop him. It did, however, make it harder to tie.

They played their back and forth game a bit more and finally Drew crossed onto the asphalt of the parking lot, and as his truck was parked right on the edge, slammed his hand onto the bed and looked over at Tavi.

"Did I win?"Â?

It hadn't been a hard run, he wasn't even breathing particularly hard. Absently he slung his bag into the bed of the beat up old truck. It was more than a few years old and sported some fine primer spots, but no rust. He knew it wasn't an expensive or a slick ride and it advertized he had no money but really, Drew didn't care.

He had other fun and exiting things to worry about tap dancing around besides his income. Not that he was too worried about that yet either. It was a few weeks until the full moon and, in his experience, even the first few months you could make easy excuses not to be around during it. And with working nights he was pretty much covered.

((OOC... you decide who won or if they tied. He'd buy the first round (and probably the second too one way or another).))
Octavia Emiliano 13 years ago
He was a better runner than most. She had to almost sprint at the end. A rare cautionary warning came up and told her to not push it too far. It would be hard to explain going eighty miles an hour on foot. Not that they were quite there but he was faster than you'd expect with a bag full of stuff. Tavi blamed the long legs.

"Sorry, Saguaro, but we tied... I think. Perhaps on date three we can break into traffic control and take a look at the cameras in order to make a ruling from the photo finish."

She assumed that the truck he touched was the knightly steed spoken of before. Useful was the first word that came to mind. It looked like it was well cared for but it was hardly new. Tavi felt it suited him somehow. She would have to wait and see if her estimation of his character was right later but Drew didn't seem to be the type to own a shiny truck just for the sake of having something big and intimidating to drive around in.

Coming over and taking his hand, Tavi looked up into his eyes.

"You know the way home, right?"

Breaking into a grin that she couldn't contain, she winked at him.

"I'm kidding. So shall we meet here?"

((ooc: It would seem he now has a nickname. O_o Feel free to ooc them both out after they set up a time for throwing and hitting. If that doesn't work out in the writing then let me know and I'll tag again. Lord knows it has been hard to push her out of the thread. ))

"I'll take a tie. Wait didn't we start with the idea of tying people up? Or was it body disposal? And what do you mean Saguaro?"Â?

Drew laughed out all his questions at once.

For a second he wondered who in the Pack had squealed on him. He really could get home. Mostly. Well with a minimum of wrong turns these days.

The grin was cute. Cute enough for him to turn the simple act of arranging a date into something a little more complicated than it needed to be. Eventually they agreed to meet at the arcade, and improvise from there.

Yeah, he was looking forward to it.

((OOC... both out with permission))
