Alex's Apartment

Alex has purchased the entirety of a single three story building on the edge of Nachton's strip where he works and lives. Each floor has a different purpose. The ground floor is his storefront, "Roughing It," a supply store for everything outdoors. The second floor has been converted to an open studio with polished wood floors and mirrors. The third floor is his apartment. You can enter the building via a small door at the corner which leads into a stairwell. Immediately to your left is the door to the store; traveling upstairs will gain you access to the studio and finally to Alex's apartment which remains locked when he isn't at home, even if he's just downstairs. The stairwell is constructed with two short flights between each story, and is entirely walled off from the elements.

Roughing It

This smallish shop is carpeted in a neutral grey. The walls are light green but they're covered with shelves and racks of merchandise so the color often goes unnoticed. At the front of the store are racks of outdoor clothing, seasonally appropriate. Moving toward the middle of the store you'll find camping and backpacking supplies, water packs, lanterns, etc etc. Toward the back of the store are the larger items; bikes, kayaks, tents and the like. The selection is fairly small because of the space available but here are a few options for everything and what he doesn't have in stock Alex can usually get access to quickly enough for a weekend trip.

The cash register and computer sit against the far wall, opposite the door you enter through. There's a single fitting room at the back right, and a small storage area at the back left.

Second Floor (Studio)

The studio, no actual name, is a well-lit workout area. During the day, some evenings, and weekends, Alex rents it out to a karate instructor who gives classes to both children and adults. The rest of the evenings and nights Alex can be found here himself, teaching beginner, intermediate, and advanced Tai Chi and yoga. He doesn't have a huge clientele yet so he can tailor his classes specifically to the needs of each person in them. There are mats along the left wall as you enter, which can be spread out if needed. There is a set of shelves in the back as well, storing yoga mats for those who don't have their own. Also along the back wall are several cubes good for placing one's purse, jacket, or cell phone. On the right wall as you enter is a row of mirrors. This is a quiet area and no loud noises should be made within out of respect to those in the class. There's a restroom at the back with a small shower. There's also a makeshift speaker system; Alex will typically dim the lights and play soft nature-oriented music during both his yoga and tai-chi classes to make it relaxing.

Third Floor (Alex's Apartment)

The third floor of Alex's building has been largely neglected due to lack of funding. Alex is patiently replacing things as he has the money to do so but most of his reserves go into the other two floors of the building. Upon entering you're in a small tiled area with a coat hanger on the side and a shoe rack. This opens directly onto the living room, which is at the front of the building. A wide bay of windows lets in plenty of natural light. The kitchen, immediately bordering the living room, is just a galley-style kitchen with a bar-top looking out over the living room. Where the dining room is meant to be there's no furniture, but a small workout area. A short hallway leads to the back of the building. There's a closet in the hallway with a stackable washer and dryer in it and a small amount of storage. The one bathroom in the apartment is located right next to the utility closet, and the hallway opens up into a small master bedroom at the very back wall of the building.

The entire apartment is rather spartan; Alex doesn't decorate well or often. That requires money and motivation and he currently has neither. There's a sofa in the living room that is comfortable if nothing else. It's red and very old, the upholstery threadbare and worn. The cushions are blue, having been re-covered at some point in the past, and the two throw pillows on it are green. There's a somewhat rickety coffee table in front of it, made of faux wood - clearly the Ikea ten-dollar special. It usually has the TV remote and whatever book Alex is working on. The wall the entrance is on has a TV stand and an old box TV. Alex does have a DVD player, which is a good thing because all he can afford is basic cable and he'd get bored fast with nothing to watch. His DVD collection is fairly extensive and sits on a bookcase to the left of the TV. It is made of dark red wood and doesn't match anything else in the room. The carpet is new, the old one being in no shape to walk upon upon his purchase of the building.

The kitchen is stocked; Alex's selection of plates and cups are a motley mismatched crew but they serve the purpose. The same goes for his cookware. The hall closet and the bathroom are organized and neat.

Alex's bedroom is just as spartan as the living room; he sleeps on the couch outside as often as he sleeps on his bed, which is basically a full-sized mattress and boxspring on... the floor. The room is not large. It fits his bed and a bookshelf. There's a closet along the right wall as you enter. There's also a small desk in the opposite corner.

The entire apartment is very shabby and a mixture of old/new, worn/pristine. It doesn't look dirty, however. Everything is clean, or as clean as it can get with as much wear as it has. Alex is a neat homekeeper and likes everything to be in its place when he's finished with it.

((ooc: Feel free to use the first two floors of this building for RP on the Strip but please do not use the third floor without invitation! Thank you!))
