Personal Questions

1. Describe your character's personality: When the situation calls for it Thérèse is charm and charisma incarnate, when in the company of her very close friends and pack she is open, warm and generally enjoys life. However, outside of these close ties she is most often polite, professional, she does tend to push her employees a bit, and is rather a perfectionist, she is confidant (often mistaken for being arrogant). In a group, she tends to be a leader. She loves to dance and enjoys a lively club and finds any good excuse to go to one. She enjoys a challenge, it makes success sweeter and commits to any project, professional or personal completely.

2. Describe how your character would appear to a stranger (I.E. typical dress, way they carry themselves etc.): Very chic, high fashion, expensive Thérèse wouldn't be caught dead in jeans and a T-Shirt. She, however, works at giving off an approachable moderately friendly not your cliché snotty French vibe, some days it works better than others

3.What does your character like? Good art (the exact definition of 'good' is flexible), classical music, cities, opera, thunder storms oleander blossoms, horseback riding, dancing, wine

4. Dislike? fast food, long lines at clubs, anything painted on velvet, traffic jams, people who talk at the theater (or opera, symphony movie etc.) people who let their children run wild in museums and sappy romance novels

5. (For humans) Describe what abilities you see your character having if they were turned. N/A

6. What are your fears? (please choose and explain 3 minimum)

Shark attacks/sharks in general - When she was about twelve and their family was on something of a holiday one of her cousins was trying to teach her to surf. Thérèse was doing rather well and was just starting to be able to stand. The next time she paddled out, however, her board was bumped, hard she was knocked into the water and started to panic. Her cousin, fortunately kept a cooler head and punched the shark in the gills. She saw it and watched it swim away as she clung to her board. To this day Thérèse swears it was a great white and that it tried to bite her, her cousin tells a different and more accurate story. She will go to the beach, in fact she quite enjoys the beach, and she will go swimming in the ocean but she will -not- swim out deeper than she can stand and will not go surfing again.

Bows/arrows - During one of the first 'family outings' she was allowed to come on things got out of control and wound up with her pack being hunted by humans. Of course, the wolves turned to eliminate the threat. Thérèse being relatively young and in experienced at that time leapt in front of one of her cousins rather than tackling him out of the way. She took a jagged dirty arrow through her shoulder and the unexpected pain caused her to revert to her human form. Mortified by this loss of control and weakness Thérèse has held a fear of bows and arrows ever since.

Losing control - either of herself, her temper, or her ability to shift. Thérèse learned early on that being out of control was a potentially deadly weakness. When shot through with an arrow she became intensely vulnerable, nothing more than a weak naked preteen girl. She has seen other lose their tempers and be goaded into fights that shouldn't have happened. Her own brother lost his temper and challenged her grandfather, her mother's father, for leadership. He lost, badly it took him several days for him to recover. What Thérèse has learned from all of this is that being out of control is a good way to wind up hurt, dead, or endangering the pack.

7. What is your character's strengths and weaknesses? (please pick 3 minimum of each and explain in detail how and why this affects your character)

Practical/realistic - This should not be mistaken for giving up or being a push over but Thérèse, while very determined and goal oriented, doesn't believe in 'never say die'. There are situations where you simply have to cut your losses and start over. There are goals and dreams that are unrealistic or too expensive and should not be perused. She believes in being realistic and practical.

Stamina/athletic - she has trained extensively in several martial arts and enjoys free running, which Thérèse sees as something of an art form, and can dance all night. Thérèse is in excellent shape and works at staying that way. While she is proud of her job, her intellect etc. there isn't a day that goes by that she doesn't do something very physical for an hour or two, she is -not- the total book worm one might expect a curator to be.

Self-control - Thérèse learned early on that being out of control was a potentially deadly weakness. To that end, she maintains a great deal of self-discipline in all aspects of her life.

Self sacrificing - Thérèse was raised to and whole-heartedly believes that the pack is everything. She is perfectly willing to die, be caught, captured, assaulted, injured etc. if it is in the interest of her family whether it is her immediate pack or any other part of the Vyusher R'asa. That isn't to say she is looking to have such a thing happen and there are circumstances where she would be the most valuable member of the party and she might have to let others pay those prices, but she wouldn't ask it of them if she weren't just as willing to do so and more often than not she will be the last one out of any situation no matter how bad.

Dyslexic - it is relatively mild but due to her family's nomadic lifestyle it wasn't recognized until a bit later in life, in fact not until she was in college. Thérèse is able to cope with it but it does mean that she needs extra time to prepare for some things, meetings and such, and often can have trouble grasping a concept immediately if all she has is a written document. It can take two or three times through to make things make sense. This, of course, applies to all the languages she is fluent in.

Allergic to penicillin - it was discovered accidentally during an encounter that went very badly one of the first time Thérèse was allowed to participate in a mission. The pack ran through the campsite of a group of hunters. The hunters, all bow hunters, immediately gave chase to the wolves. The pack, of course turned to take on the new threat. Thérèse took an arrow through the shoulder surprised by this and inexperienced she lost control of her shape and reverted to her human form. The campsite was on the edge of a public forest and the ruckus drew quite a lot of attention and emergency medical attention from outside the pack for Thérèse. The penicillin caused her to very nearly stop breathing and if not for her regenerative capabilities and the fact that she was with medical personal she probably would have died.

Personal History :

Thérèse was born in Brittany, a region in France rich with history and folklore. Some versions of the Arthurian legend say that Merlin was from Brittany, there are remnants of Roman and Celtic beliefs and her family knows them all. Stories around the campfire are a way of life.

Her grand-père, Michele DuBois has lead their pack on a long meandering circuit through, Spain, Portugal, Monaco, Morocco and Algeria for as long as she can remember. Her mother Ariel serves as his beta. One of her uncles, her father's brother, and her grandfather's brother have both taken life vows to the Legion. Her uncle currently holds the rank of Kal'Lochagos and her great uncle is a Taxiarchos. Her father served a term in the Legion. Sufficed to say that for Thérèse dedication to the pack is a way of life, she has learned by example. From the time she could understand what was going on her she was taught loyalty and dedication to the pack and her family.

Thérèse and her family have held true to the Vyusher R'asa goals, they work to expand, to grow in strength, power and influence. They like the rest of their kin have spent much time and effort seeking to correct tin injustices of the treaty with the vampires.

She has two older brothers, both of whom were gifted at seven. Her mother, however, was a bit more cautious with her only daughter. For Thérèse always seemed a bit different, perhaps a half a step away from her brothers. She wasn't a timid child, but she was more bookish than any one else in the pack. Even as a child, she saw beauty in everything from a sunset, to her grand-père's coat under the full moon, to a fresh kill being savaged by the pack. It was strange, but finally Ariel and Michele decided it was not a weakness and that Thérèse should be gifted.

Thérèse took her new status seriously but her alpha could see what she was being taught wasn't enough for the girl. Perhaps she needed a more stable life, something less nomadic. However, Ariel wouldn't hear of it, she wouldn't trust outsiders to raise her only daughter nor would she leave the pack. Arrangements were made that seemed to satisfy every one. A small part of the pack would leap frog from city to city, either skipping a head of the main part of the pack or hanging back, so Thérèse could attend school in full terms, on the condition that she not neglect her other training. This went on through her master's degree. While her transcript is enough to make a grown man cry covering more schools and countries than any one would think possible, she did graduate with a dual master's in Art History and Mueseology. By the time she graduated she was also extremely proficient in three forms of hand to hand combat as well as being to handle herself in nearly any situation in her wolf form and lead a hunt.

Oddly enough, while she was in college despite attending universities in three countries between her Bachelors and Master's degrees Thérèse took several classes from a Dr. Nikhila Gounder. It was unusual to find some one whose lifestyle was as nomadic as she and her family. However, at the same time each woman was quite pleased, if surprised, to see a familiar face. Thérèse knew with out a doubt that the professor was not part of the Vyusher R'asa but they did strike up a friendship, one that has held to this day. They don't often get to see each other but they do write regularly, at least once a month.

After graduating Thérèse opted to serve two terms in the Legion, she felt she needed to give back to the pack and to those who had sacrificed that she might get her education. Although, as a good French woman, she did miss the wine. While in those four years she did advance to the ranks of the Kal'Hamippos, it was determined at the beginning of her second term that perhaps she wasn't the best soldier ever. Her true talents lay in information gathering and dissemination. She learned a great deal about acting as an intelligence officer and be came quite adept at it and was respected for her abilities.

When her four years were completed, her alpha and grand-père decided to use those talents she had learned in the Legion. Thérèse become one of the few from her pack that had a stable and legitimate job. While she followed the same circuit the rest did, she did so at a different pace, moving from one small or midsize museum to another and acting as a focus. A place that information could be collected and relayed.

While in Portugal she heard the curator position at the Arch was open, Thérèse felt it was important for her to apply. With her alpha's blessing, she did so. Having won the position, she has just moved to Nachton. Her grand-père feels it will be beneficial to have one established and respectable member of the pack in Nachton, in what has become a base for the pack as a whole. It is not, however, clear if it will be come a point on her pack's circuit or not nor is it clear just how long she will remain. She does hope to get to see her friend Dr. Gounder while she is here in Nachton. It will be nice to have a familiar face outside of the pack here in the city.

(Note - I did speak to Chryseis' player and she was OK with Thérèse taking over the Arch)
