Taking a Dive (open)

Aching muscles from a vigorous sparring session with Bao, lead Dana to stroll around to Manor seeking a release in tension. In her wandering she came across a set of doors she was not yet familiar with. They were off one of the common areas so she did not think it was a private bedroom. She tried the knob of the inlaid double doors, it turned easily and she pushed the dark wood open.

The pungent scent of chlorinated water hit her nose. She'd found the pool. Curious, and a bit grateful, she entered the room, gently closing the door behind her. The water glittered with the small inset lights in the ceiling above, from the gentle lapping of the water. The room was empty, which surprised her slightly with the number of people that lived in the manor. It almost always surprised her at how...unoccupied the place was.

Impulsiveness was not one of her usual traits, but the gentle ache across shoulders and down thighs, had her feet traveling across the floor to the deeper end of the pool.

Her fingers caught the tiny straps of the dress she was wearing, causing the soft purple fabric to slide from her body to pool at her feet. Bending she picked the dress up from the floor and folded it neatly, placing it on a nearby lounging chair.

With a childish little smile she took three running steps and dived into the sparkling water, wearing only the small triangles of white lace that were her panties.

With a soft laugh she emerged from the water at the opposite end of the pool and began to take a slow lazy lap around the edge of water

Amir took his time, enjoying the building sense of urgency, admiring the flush of Dana's cheeks and the feel of her breath against his lips just before he kissed her each time. The feel of her body was becoming familiar, but instead of inspiring that lassitude which could come with too much familiarity, he sank into her embrace with another sigh, a long drawn-out sound of pleasure.

As they moved together Amir watched Dana's face and recognized the expression on it. He smiled, closing his eyes and laying his cheek close to hers as they drove each other onward.

The past few weeks had been a hectic run-around of hunt and chase with Xephier and his Pack. Amir hadn't expected the man to be so stubborn; nor had he expected that several more complications would arise. The waters had been rough to say the least but Dana had provided a calm eye to an otherwise rigorous storm and he couldn't dispute that he had more than a little affection for her. If Subira were here...

But Subira wasn't here, it was just him, and just Dana, and he was caressing her skin and sliding deeper down into that well of sensation, and whispering softly to her as they rose to the crest together, and fell over it, in a language he hadn't spoken for a very long time. It just seemed right.

Dana understood little of anything Amir said to her, but the gentle melodic sounds were relaxing, and she answered him in her own mother tongue. The words she said were of love and joy and satisfaction. Her voice was soft and breathy, and it never occurred to her that Amir might be able to understand her.

They'd never discussed their language abilities, in fact there were a lot of things they'd not discussed, but in the grand scheme of things they didn't matter. They would come in their own time and would leave them with a great many things to talk of in the days, weeks, months and, should she think like that, years to come.

Either way she was content to lay in his arms and whisper sweet words in the language most comfortable on her tongue.

Amir grinned when he heard Dana's voice through the haze of physical contentment their actions had created. Apparently he was going to have to study up.

He lowered himself to the bed, onto his side, and gathered her close. Throwing one leg over her he pressed against her, wrapping her up in a warm hug. With his brain thinking properly once again it was a simple matter to become distant and slightly cut off again, but he didn't. Perhaps it was the fact that it had been hundreds of years since taking a lover, even being interested in anyone, or maybe it was because of the events of several nights ago which had left him off-balance.

Whatever the reason, he rested his head next to Dana's and held her contentedly, in no hurry to go anywhere although the night was still relatively young. Finally, after many long moments, he broke the comfortable silence.

"Okay. We got rid of the wet clothes. Now what do we do?"

He punctuated his lightly teasing words with soft kisses. "I can't think of a single thing."

He waited until he heard Dana's answering laughter. Amir wasn't usually the joking type but tonight was a good night to get outside of his comfort zone a little. He looked around the room with its soft glow, so different from his darkened cavern of a suite. It was all right though; Dana had made her space her own as he had. There was much in her to enjoy, aside from their recent exertions.

"Absolutely nothing, hmm?" She too was perfectly happy to simply lay with him. It was calming and enjoyable. However she reached up to her beside table and picked up the slim black remote there. With a few button presses, the soft strains of Union Station's Baby, now that I've found you, filled the room from the unobtrusive surround sound speaker's one of the staff had installed for her. She'd found the cd when rummaging through the bins at a used music store looking for some new bluegrass. This particular CD wasn't really what she'd come to consider bluegrass, but having another of the band's albums, had decided her on getting it, and she found she enjoyed it very much.

Leaning her head back a little she smiled at Amir.
"Do you dance?"

Amir shook his head, smiling into Dana's hair and lying quietly, watching her with his dark eyes as she tapped a remote that lay on the nightstand. His eyebrows raised upward at her question, and typical male warning bells rang out at the mention of dancing.

"Yes, I dance," he answered. "I could hardly survive the Renaissance without knowing how." There was a humorous tint of irony to his tone, and he assumed she would share in the knowledge that nothing during the Renaissance had been accomplished without someone striking a note and calling for some kind of outrageous dance.

Internally, he was amused that the topic should arise, for he had had a rather adamant dancing instructor over the centuries. Not Subira; dancing was not her thing. But one of his own children, who had an affinity for movement and rhythm. Therefore he had found himself playing the role of the token male dance partner in more dances than he cared to admit to.

Dana hadn't asked him to dance... just if he knew how. Amir answered the question as it was put to him and listened to the words of the song. They also surprised him. Had Dana gone out and learned his language so quickly?

Baby, now that I've found you I won't let you go.
I built my world around you
I need you so
Baby, even though
You don't need me
Now.

He was going to have to be careful; the words he'd whispered to her might not have been what she was hoping to hear, but he still wanted her company. In his way, he needed hers.

Turning her attention from the music momentarily he reminded her, "Don't forget, you wanted to experience dancing, human-style, a few months ago."

"Ah, the renaissance." That had not been her favorite of times in the courts. The dancing was always complicated and the food was rich and never set well with her when she'd been forced to eat it to be polite.

She laughed, remembering that night. It seemed like years not months, she'd learned so incredibly much since then. But that had been a night of so many firsts for her, and Amir had shared them with her.

"That is not something I am likely to forget."

Baby,
now that I've found you
I won't let you go
I built my world around you
I need you so
Baby even though
You don't need me,
You don't need me oh, no

She'd not intended to play a song that spoke what she'd just said. She'd just turned on the stereo, and this had been the CD to come up in the rotation when she hit shuffle. Still, fate had a way of doing things that showed you exactly what you needed and wanted to do with the choices before you.

Sighing softly, she let her evil little plan to get up and moving against her in some bit of seductive dancing, go. What was she to do now? It was not right to voice such things to Amir. His duty to the clan should and must come first. He should have nothing tying him down, including the declarations of love from a fellow clan mate.

This was all a bit too heavy for the evening they were sharing. But letting it go didn't seem to be in the scope of Dana's abilities at the moment. She turned her head and began to sing the words to him.

Baby, baby,
when first we met
I knew in this heart of mine

That you were someone I couldn't forget.

Her own soft sweet voice, blended well with Alison Krauss's as she sang.

Amir relaxed some when it seemed Dana wasn't going to ask him to dance with her. Not just then, anyhow. Her words, however, and the song playing, forced him to reassess their relationship. Surely she didn't expect protestations of deep and abiding love from him? He'd made it clear from the start that Anantya came first. Always. Nothing he felt for her had changed that.

She wasn't really pushing the issue though. She was singing along with the music, resting against him comfortably. It made him think, though. Was she really that attached? Was that a bad thing?

He liked Dana's company. She had helped ground him in the past couple of months and he appreciated her for it. But love? Amir loved very few things. Anantya, Subira, some of his own children. He could be Dana's lover, certainly, but if she wanted love she might have to look elsewhere.

That was something to ponder at a later date... something he would have to think on for once instead of acting rashly. While Amir might be outspoken and unafraid to injure peoples' feelings on certain topics, he cared for Dana and didn't want to see her hurt.

Sensing that further speech might ruin the relaxed mood, Amir simply smiled at Dana's song. He smoothed his hand over her soft back, slowly back and forth, the caress of a lover, certainly. Dana's company was something he had begun to crave, but was it for the right reasons?

Letting her voice fade, Dana tucked her face into the crook of his neck. His touch was soothing and left little trails of heat at the same time. At times it was difficult for her mind to process all of the different things he made her feel at once. She enjoyed the heady discomfort of the disorder he brought to her life.

It was easy to get lost with in it and let her buried impulsive side come out and play. He offered a safe place in which she could explore the world around her, and experiment with herself, without a need to explain why she chose to do or not do something.

Her lips traced little kisses across the small space of skin she had pressed herself against. She was content to lay with him for hours, talking of nothing and everything, or sharing her body with his, but the thoughts roaming about in her head were making her restless. It made it difficult to stay snuggled against him, but she was reluctant to disturb the peace they had at them moment.

Amir was glad that Dana didn't push the issue any further. Instead of dwelling on the topic of emotions and ties he let his mind drift and closed his eyes, dozing lightly while he rested his cheek against Dana's soft hair.

When he looked down at her again, not much time had passed; perhaps twenty or thirty minutes. He was reminded, though, of a promise he'd made to help her explore. And here they were, whiling away the midnight hours in repose when they could be out and about.

A mischievous smile flirted about his lips.
"Did you want to go out tonight?" Generally their tears around Nachton were fun. Amir was enjoying himself, at least, and he didn't think Dana disagreed.

"We can take the bike."

It was a warm night out and they hadn't ridden his motorcycle in a while. He was tempting her, remembering her desires, and not opposed to continue fulfilling them for the moment. It was, he guessed, in a way, his apology for not being able to meet her eye to eye tonight... not the way she may have wanted him to, anyway.

Dana had drifted off into a light doze as they continued to lay in the quiet dark. Her mind had settled as Amir's steady caress soothed her, letting her fall into the state between awake and asleep. She was aware of his slight movement, but still started with a tiny jerk of muscles when he spoke into the silence.

"Mmm, you do know how to tempt a girl from her lazy frolics don't you?"

She rose with a soft low chuckle, and smiled down at him, from the prop of her elbow. Her free hand moved to push coitus mussed, chlorine frizzed hair from her face.

"I think I shall need to shower first, if you've no objection to a small delay."

Grinning she kissed his nose and rolled dexterously from the bed and onto her feet. Half way to her bathroom door she paused and looked over her shoulder.

"You are welcome to join me." Dipping her head, as her lips curled with a smile. "If you wish."

With a wink of her eye, she completed her walk to the bathroom. With out turning on the light she started up the water, and stepped into the little glass room.

"Maybe I'm just building her up for the next one," Amir suggested, glad the mood was restored to its previous friendliness and lightness. He was not in the mood for emotional contemplations, and didn't want to be forced into telling Dana something she might not want to hear. His own mood might have taken a dive, but instead it was raised back up by her willingness to simply enjoy each other's company.

Amir wasn't opposed to a small delay either. He rose sinuously from the bed, following Dana as she went.

"How about a medium delay?" His silken smile crept over his lips as he joined Dana, fully intending to take her up on her offer.

"Maybe even a long delay."

They didn't have anything pressing to do, and it was several hours before sunrise, after all. Plenty of time for pretty much everything. Amir had no complaints. Time spent with Dana was time well spent overall.
