Imagine a world that is dark, cold, and dying; a world that boasts technological wonders, but has depleted its natural resources. A world that its people, and the Sun, has turned its back on, leaving it barren, devoid of life, trapped in an everlasting winter. It wasn't always like this. No, it was so much more.

Her people had pale, translucent skin, and welcomed the winter just as easily as it welcomed the rebirth of spring. The cities floated above its warm waters with towers that touched the stars. Natural shifting of the land masses had inspired the world's scientists and its people tapped into the resources, living their quiet, comfortable lives amongst the growing technology that was killing the very planet they built their floating cities on.

Each year the Winter Solstice was celebrated worldwide, welcoming Nature's slumber and the cleansing of ice and snow. Each year the people celebrated their planet, Invernae, and each year there was a warm, fruitful, and glorious spring. The circle of life continued this way for hundreds of thousands of years, till one day...

The migration to the Outer Rim to terraform swiftly gave way to a devastation exodus. The world reveled in its technological wonders and left to spread its gifts to the rest of the universe leaving the remaining inhabitants of Invernae...alone. Invernae is now trapped in what the last survivors call 'Forever Winter', and without the world's population to celebrate what was once thought of as a seasonal ritual, the world died.

Delivered from the blast
The last of a line of lasts
The pale princess of a palace cracked
And now the kingdom comes
Crashing down undone
And I am a master of a nothing place
Of recoil and grace
