Personal Questions
1. Describe your character's personality: Marie was a feisty outgoing, playful, smart alec sort before her parents died and you can still see some of that in her. These days she is determined, suspicious, cynical moody and depressed, in short she is not a happy camper.
2. Describe how your character would appear to a stranger (I.E. typical dress, way they carry themselves etc.) a first impression would be that she is either very with drawn or possibly unnecessarily confrontational. Her fashion sense is cheap and eclectic but she does her best to keep things clean and neat. While eclectic she often dresses with a ‘rodeo’ flare, it’s just what she grew up with and she likes the look.
3.What does your character like? Horses, rodeo, chocolate, a safe place to sleep, classical music
4. Dislike? Her uncle Manuel, drunk drivers, cinnamon, celery, soap operas, being hungry, public restrooms

6. What are your fears? (please choose and explain 3 minimum) She fears being sent back to her uncle Manuel and being forced to endure further abuse.
Due to her entire family dieing in a car crash, being hit by a car, bus etc. Best to drive slowly and carefully when she’s riding with you.
Being abandoned – Marie had her entire family torn away from her, she doesn’t even feel she can go back to her other uncles or aunts, she is extremely lonely and acutely feels a lack of family or anything else to belong to
7. What is your character's strengths and weaknesses? (please pick 3 minimum of each and explain in detail how and why this affects your character)
Good with horses – She’s grown up with horses, ropers, barrel racers, you name it she’s been around them. She knows how to take care of them, how to read their body language, how to feel for sore or tender spots and what to do with them.
Good judge of character – she didn’t start out quite that way being a bit naive like most kids but living on the streets she’s learned to get a feel for the soft touches, the regular good guys, the creeps and pervs.
Limber, agile and coordinated – she’s young and flexible (she is only fifteen after all) very lithe and can wedge herself into some very small hiding places she also has an extreme sense of balance and could probably be a brilliant dancer, it does make her a very good horseback rider
Small – She is not a big girl and young besides, she has a wiry strength good for riding etc but is easily over powered by an adult or even a larger child
Poor/no employment – yeah being an under age run away does not get you on the fortune five hundred. Marie cannot get a job nor does she have a good place to sleep. She does what she can to stay clean and presentable so she can pan handle better but finding a meal or a safe place to sleep is a daily struggle
Insomniac – since her family’s death and then with her street experiences she just doesn’t sleep much or well and has all the lovely side effects that go with lack of sleep

Hobbies & Skills (for more information, read here) Well they were horse back riding, sketching, and cross country running… she’s not done that so much lately. She does speak fluent Spanish and is one hell of a cook (providing you like Mexican food or pizza)

Quirks and Habits worthy of mention – chews ice (esp. if she hasn’t had a lot to eat), twists her hair around her finger if she’s lying (at least she does if it isn’t in a braid so she keeps it in a braid when she’s pan handling)
Personal History Marie was the oldest of three children and part of a big loud happy extended family. Her mother, Regina, was the librarian at a local public school and her father, Diego, and his brother Jesus, were a top team-roping duo. One of his other brother’s, Juan, is still with the rodeo as a bull dogger. So, it goes with out saying that she and her siblings all spent a lot of time around horses and livestock. Marie herself was learning how to barrel race and was showing some promise. When she wasn’t with the horses and her father and uncles she was with her mother and grandmother. Both highly educational women, they read, they talked, her grandmother taught her about music and opera and she learned to cook. When all else failed she had her sister and brother and half a dozen cousins for to play with.
Although her grandmother passed away when she was thirteen, all in all it was a nearly ideal childhood. When she was fourteen her parents and siblings were killed in a car crash, they were T-boned by a drunk driver after dropping Marie off at a friends house. Devastated by the crash Marie didn’t know what to do. Her parent’s will specified that if they should both die she would go to live with Diego’s oldest brother Manuel, who was her godfather. Diego and Manuel had never had a particularly close relationship, but because Manuel was his oldest brother, he had been made godfather to Diego’s oldest child.
Manuel was not a particularly good guardian. The first six months or so passed in a haze as Marie came to terms with the death of her parents and siblings. As she began to come out of her haze, she began to feel that something was wrong about living with Manuel. At first it was little things a touch that lasted too long, him sitting a bit too close to her but soon enough the abuse was more blatant. Manuel never beat or raped her but he came close one day and that night she stole what cash she could find packed some cloths and ran away. Using the money she’d taken Marie was able to take a bus to Texas. Because her father had competed, there he had some contacts and she hoped to get a job there. A ranch did hirer her but that only lasted a few weeks before the owners realized how young she was. They contacted the authorities and were intent on sending her back to her uncle but Marie was equally determined not to go back. She again ran, with a combination of bus rides and hitch hiking this time to the east coast as far away from any one who knew her or her family as she could get. The trip left her broke and she had no money for food and no place to stay, by this time Marie had been on the run for six months. The streets had not agreed with her at all she no longer trusted any one. However, totally without resources she had to trust some one and found a shelter that would take her in as a run away. This lasted three weeks before she again felt pressured to return to her family. Not willing to face that she’s taken to running again, this time its lead her to Nachton. Maybe she’ll have better luck here.
