Hey! How's tricks?

Feeling a vibration between her legs, Shay giggled. Reaching down she plucked her cell phone from where it was nestled, and looked at it. She had just pulled into the mall parking garage, so she wasn't in danger of getting into any trouble with her car, and could read the message clearly.

'Hi. CallMe or StopBy. Workin.'

Dayle. The message was sent by Dayle, and Shay giggled again to think she got it while her phone had been where it had been.

After missing a couple calls recently, while in her car with the radio blaring, Shay had taken to keeping her phone where she could feel when someone called. And her new plan worked like a charm. She never missed calls now.

After further concentration Shay began to chew her lip. Why hadn't Dayle called her? Why had she decided to just contact Shay? Shrugging, Shay guessed there must be some reason, and discarded her curiosity. Only one way to find out.

"Hi Dayle...just got your message...what's up?"Â?

Shay had wondered how she would treat their first contact, after what happened between them the last time they were together. She felt like she might owe Dayle an apology, but had yet to work that out well enough to call her lover quite yet. Now that Dayle had made the first move, Shay almost jumped with her 'I'm Sorry'. But she didn't. She still wasn't sure she had been the one in the wrong.

Then too...did it matter?

"I...I've missed you..."Â?

Ana shook the other woman's hand firmly, fully expecting to learn her name, before she was dismissed for the phone call. "You too, Miss, a good night indeed..."

As she was walking away, Ana thought to look at the card in her hand. It was rather plain, for a business card. Just plain white card stock, but the name Shay, in cursive, centered, over an address she couldn't quite place, and a cell phone number were printed on the card. The lettering on the card began to get blurry as she focused on it, but she decided to shove it into her pocket before following her intended course, to exit the mall.

And answer that phone call.

A feeling of elation had come over Shay, what with a partially successful shopping expedition, AND meeting a new friend...her first friend in Nachton...her first HUMAN friend. Or...she had automatically assumed the other woman, Ana, was human.

But that didn't have to be the case, necessarily, did it?

Turning in her tracks, Shay looked back to see Ana making her way to the exit doors, and wondered.

It wouldn't really matter either way, but she considered the possibility that the woman might have been a vampire after all. Was that why she had spoken of the supernatural? Was she trying to tell Shay something?

Realizing she was standing in the middle of the mall, and people were walking around her, Shay went back to the bench and sat down. A woman with a fussy toddler had now occupied the space Ana just vacated, but Shay ignored them.

Trying to recapture the recently held conversation, Shay replayed those parts she could remember, and tried to see if there had been any other clues. Unfortunately it was no time at all before she came to the conclusion that no matter what, she just could not determine if Ana were human or not. She was then somewhat relieved she hadn't given herself away, and chalked up the worry and uncertainty to defensive paranoia. With Ana now gone, there really was nothing left to get her knickers in a twist about.

"Knickers!"

Popping open her cell phone, Shay hit the speed dial for Dayle's office, and waited to see if she would answer.

"Dayley? You ready to quit work and come join me yet?"

While the Brit had expected another phone call, she expected it to be more along the lines of "later" rather than "sooner." Setting aside the third-to-last of the reports she'd requested of Ginnie, she answered her phone, and before even being able to give a greeting heard "Dayley?" in a happy, teasing, nails-across-the-chalkboard tone. "Hallo Shay. I still have at least an hour's worth left that I need to do, that I told myself I'd do, before my night's end, and I really need to get it signed off and such. If you're still at the Mall..."

"I am" was the response. "Oh, you are? Good. Since you're still at the Mall, could you stop by Vickie's and get me their new Spring catalog?"

"Who is Vicky?" "Yes, you know. Vickie's. Victoria's Secret?"

"Oh, sure, definately. I've seen their commercials on TV. Do they have really good stuff there?" "Yes, quite good, thanks. Get yourself a copy too, while you're there. And Shay, before I let you go, I need to ask one more favor."

"Sure, ask away." Cringing again as she thought about the prior nickname, the older vampire replied, "Oh, thank you. In that frame of thought, thank you in advance then as I ask, could you please never, ever call me Dayley again?"

The gentle reprimand did nothing to darken Shay's mood.

"No problem sweetcheeks. I'll pick up the catalogs, and see about finishing my shopping then. What say you give me a ring when you're done there?"

Dayle's response was 'of course', so Shay blew her a quick kiss into the cell phone, and bid her goodbye 'for now'.

Sliding her closed cell phone into her pocket, Shay looked up and down the mall for the Victoria Secret sign. Spotting it not too far off, She began walking in that direction, and continued with her window shopping along the way.

Paying strict attention to the windows that housed the men's items, Shay saw one or two things that might have been nice to gift Alec with, but none struck the chord in her that the cross had for Ginnie. Thus she kept walking.

Lured into Victoria's Secret, on her errand for Dayle, Shay couldn't resist inspecting several of the frilly little pieces of underwear. So many pretty things caught her eye, and her imagination, that she wondered if she might start to wear a lacy bra now and then. Maybe Dayle would get a kick out of seeing her in one, she mused.

So, with those ideas in mind, Shay found four bra and pantie sets, and carried them into the dressing room to try on.

On thing about the bras, that Shay had never given consideration to, was how they enhanced her smallness. Finding one bra in particular, that had little air filled pillows in the sides, which pushed her boobs inward, and gave her a cleavage she never thought she'd ever see on her frame, gave her another reason to consider wearing it. Posing in front of the full length mirror, turning from side to side, Shay was almost giddy with delight at the way her body looked.

But would Dayle see her the same way, or would the Brit think Shay's artificial body modifications were a silly waste of time? Shay pondered that question but for a scant few minutes, before redressing and taking the pretty pieces to the register to buy.

Once she made sure there were two catalogs in the bag, along with her purchases, Shay resumed her journey through the mall.

After she'd tried on some dresses, and shoes, in a couple other stores, and spoke to a very nice man in a sporting goods store, Shay returned to the jewelry store she had been to earlier. She thought the jeweler might have frowned when she first entered, but ignored the possibility. She now had an idea for what to buy her dad, and nothing was going to deter her.

At least her purchase this time didn't seem to unnerve the jeweler, probably because between the two of them they located the item she had in mind rather quickly. The man even deigned to give Shay one of his cards this time, as she readied herself to return to the mall itself.

"What to do now?" Since Dayle still hadn't called, Shay was a little beside herself with decisions on what she could do next to busy herself. When nothing exciting came to mind, she returned to the bench where she'd met the nice woman, Ana, and began to thumb through her Victoria Secret catalog.

Shaking her head as she hung up her cellphone - realizing that perhaps her phrasing of that particular request had opened the gates for Shay to call her any other silly pet name in the book, and then some - if evidenced by the "sweetcheeks" comment - Dayle went about the remainder of her work.

The list of those notified was pretty cut and dry. Two of them gave her pause, though, as she reviewed her mental tally of their addresses... Two were in Nachton. In a city as large as Nachton was, though, could she really imagine Shay ever running into either of them?

Snickering to herself, realizing what a goofy thought that made - after all, only Hollywood or crackpot writers came up with such insane plot twists - she packed up and opened her phone, about eighty minutes after Shay's last call.

"I'm done. D'you want to pick me up, or do you want me to meet you somewhere?"
Shay 17 years ago
"Meet me here, please. I'd really like to eat at this Rainforest place...it just looks so cool!"

All the palms, and ferns, and jungle animal sounds had really piqued Shay's interest, and for now it was about all she could think of. Happily Dayle agreed, and within thirty minutes they were being seated for dinner.

After Shay had filled her belly with some delicious pulled pork sandwich, they agreed to continue the evening back at Shay's. Once the tab had been taken care of, both women departed the restaurant, and picked up their cars. In a matter of minutes, the mall was a diminishing sight in Shay's rear view mirror.
