The Carver family estate was quiet. The exterior was illuminated beautifully to accentuate every detail and show off the home's winding gardens. But inside the sprawling home it was dark and silent. Earlier that afternoon the family had packed up and headed out to Colorado for their annual winter holiday trip. The only sounds came from a small guard house just to the west of the main house. Inside, Frank was kicked back watching a huge array of security monitors and the small portable television he'd propped up on top.

A skittering sound on the path outside had him rising to his feet with his hand hovering over the 2 way radio's microphone. Opening the door quickly, he relaxed and laughed when the two cats tussling on the steps looked up at him startled. Well hello there Boris and Natasha he said, chuckling at the large black cat and his petite blonde friend. No strangers to the friendly human both started mewing greetings and wandered into the warm building. Frank shut the door after them and turned to shoo Natasha off of his chair. The tawny feline hopped up onto the desk and sat blinking at him and casually looking around the room. Boris began to wail, letting the guard know he was hungry.

Shaking his head he motioned with his hands for the two to just be patient and he hoisted his lunch cooler up. From inside he produced a thermos and poured some of the milk into the top for the two. Both scurried over and began to drink. After a few sips the blonde lifted her head and nuzzled her companion. She wandered over to the guard and twined through his legs, earning a vigorous back scratching. His reward was loud purring and a few gentle licks on his hand.

Hey Frank, a voice said over the radio breaking the quiet. Yeah Paul, it's all cool here, monitors look good and all the sensors are online, the guard responded into his mic. Ok, everything is quiet here at the gate. Not much traffic coming by tonight, I bet most of these rich schmucks are out of town now. Frank chuckled and nodded. Yeah I bet so too. Talk to ya in a hour.

Amberelle had walked back behind where Frank was sitting while he spoke. She'd been planning this heist for a couple of weeks and had spent quite a few nights coming by here and getting to know the friendly guard. When he was done, she sent to Louis 'Now..' Lifting his head from the milk he licked his lips. Suddenly he began to heave and hack. Oh no no.. no you don't, no barfing in here! Frank said firmly, reaching down to scoop up the tomcat. Behind him Amberelle had silently reverted to her human form and pulled a small chemical soaked rag from her pocket. When he started to stand, holding the still hacking Louis the blonde grabbed him from behind and pressed the cloth to his face firmly. Struggling to free his hands and fight her off, Frank tried to drop the black cat. Louis held on and bit and scratched the man to prevent him reaching his weapon or radio. Quickly he sank down to his knees and into unconsciousness.

In minutes he was firmly but comfortably tied and gagged. Amby shook her head at her own softness as she made sure he had enough support for his bad back. If he hadn't been so kind to the pair before now she probably wouldn't feel guilty. Turning to the monitors she went about quickly disarming the security systems and turning off the camera feeds and recordings. Then she glanced at the clock and set her stopwatch for the remaining 51 minutes with a ten minute reminder. Once the gate guard called and didn't get a response she wouldn't have much time to get out.

Ok Louis, you stand guard here and let me know if anyone calls or comes ok? His head nodded up and down and then he headed back over to the half finished milk. The Anantya snorted softly at her little friend before heading to the door.

A thousand curse words in multiple languages were muttered under her breath as Amberelle slowly inched the last frame off of the wall without disturbing the pressure sensor. They were a LOT heavier than she'd anticipated. While she was running 5 minutes behind the schedule she'd wanted, there was still several minutes left to cushion it. But, eyeing the amassed haul she had still to get out and packed was making her a little nervous. There was still the bedroom safe to get to.

Sighing, she lifted the large glass and metal frames two at a time under her arms with a loud grunt and headed down the back stairs double time. Just outside the rear door was a large black van for a local plumbing chain. Stealing it had been easy. And, once she'd dumped all the equipment and tools off behind the Salvation Army it had had plenty of room for her needs. Each of these frames were tucked in between thick foam pads and tied down securely. Dusting her gloved hands off lightly, she smiled. It felt really good to be back in the saddle again, doing something she was so good at.

The last velvet tray was dumped into a bag and returned to the safe quickly. Glancing at her watch, the blonde growled softly. She had about 11 minutes left. That made her nine minutes behind. Damn stupid safe, she muttered and glared at the source of her frustration. On the up side there had been quite a few more pretty sparklies in there than she'd hoped.. which made it all worth the struggle.

Slinging the sack over her shoulder the vampire walked to the landing balcony and swung her legs over, hopping down and landing crouched in the foyer below. Standing, she glanced at the closed french doors to the study and paused. Debating with herself for a moment she finally gave in and tried them. Locked. Shrugging one shoulder she twisted hard and shoved. There was a faint metallic snap and the doors swung open.

A manly man's library and office repleat with wood paneling, leather furniture and tons of books. Sniffing, she made her way around the room testing the air until she found an odd spot for the homeowners' scent to be stronger. Pushing a chair out of the way, she eyed the tastefully decorated bookcase. Picking up a generic landscape oil painting she tossed it aside and pried off the false cover of book spines it had been leaning against. That revealed a small safe, tucked away. Dropping her bag she leaned in and pressed her ear to the door and began to painstakingly slowly turn the dial, stopping with each soft click. Four of those later and she swung open the door feeling quite proud of herself. A low whistle escaped at the large neat stacks of bills and paperwork inside. It was soon stuffed into her sack and she trotted to the back door.

'Mistress,' Louis' voice came into her head suddenly and she glanced at her watch. "Box talking again!' She was out of time. Shitshitshitshit played through her head as she ran and jumped into the van, starting it up and quietly creeping to the alley entrance she had come in. 'Get your butt to the alley NOW Louis,' she sent with a hiss. In her rear view mirror she could see a small flashlight beam bobbing its way from the front gate. A loud howl outside her door prompted her to open it and the tomcat hopped into her lap. The light was close now, but hopefully he was not near enough to make out the side of the truck. 'Fuck it,' she muttered and mashed the gas. The other guard's yells echoed faintly down the street as she screeched around the corner.
