Wesley's excursion to The Vesper Gardens

It was four weeks ago that Wes had come from the US to Nachton. He had concentrated mostly on getting his studies underway and getting a grip on the campus area. At the chess club/coffee shop one of the students told him he should check out the Vasper Gardens, so here he was.

He had taken the number 57 bus into midtown and transferred to the streetcar, number 4. It did a loop from midtown out to gardens, very quaint.

As enjoyed a good walk the gardens suited his temperament very well.

Nodding yet again, Nic finished the trip up the street and drove the bike up onto the sidewalk and in front of what appeared to be the entrance.

Shutting the motor off, he immediately 'suggested' that Wes invite him in...'You want to ask me in...a friendly gesture...to see your place, and maybe have a cup of coffee...you don't want to say goodbye just yet...'

He waited for Wes to climb off the bike, and then did the same, but remained next to the bike, just in case Wes fought the suggestion. If this guy didn't pan out as hoped, Nic would have very little time to find someone, feed, and get back to Liefde, but he'd need to really get a move on. Smiling, he nudged again...

'Nic is a good chap...go on...invite him up for coffee...even if you don't have any...'

"Well then...here you are."

Wesley was entirely glad he was off the motorcycle and safe at home. For him, it was a giant leap of trust, something he had not been willing to do for years.

He looked at Nicholae and sheepishly grinned as he said,
"man that was excellent Nic. I am a bit gun-shy in chance taking lately but would like to try that again."Â?

He liked the guy and was looking to step out and make friends, perhaps even get his social life kick-started again. Nic might fit the bill.

"Ummm... My place isn't much of a place, two rooms and a coffee pot. Would you do me the pleasure and offer a cup of coffee up in my place?"Â? he asked Nic, hoping he would agree to it.

"Sure thing Wes, pal." Nic grinned from ear to ear, satisfied that he hadn't lost his touch, and threw an arm around Wes' shoulders.

"I can't stay long but a 'cup a joe' for the ride home would be great."

Holding his hand in front of him, Nic waited for Wes to take the lead.

"I'm really glad the ride worked out for you...maybe somewhere down the line I can take you for another...show you some of the outskirts of town that the bus system might not reach. Hell, there are all kinds of places I've yet to explore myself. Not that I'm really much of a nature lover, but it doesn't hurt to know your surroundings. The only problem though, would be that I tend to keep pretty late hours. I'm not much of a morning person..."

Walking along as they were, to an outsider they might appear like good buds. Nic hoped they did anyway, as he didn't want anyone thinking there was something strange going on, and perhaps pay more attention to the duo, than a cursory glance would satisfy. It occurred to him now, why it was he rarely went back to someone's home, versus taking care of business in a back alley or a secluded street.

So far they hadn't run into any neighbors, and Nic hoped they reached Wes' place before they did.

Wesley took Nic up to the lobby. He unlocked door that lead to the stairway behind as he replied, "Thanks for joining me for a cup. It's the least I can do for your friendship you have extended to me."Â?

They climb the narrow stairs two flights up as Wesley jabbered on, "I understand about the evening thing. I'm sure, as an investment person, your days are prim hours to earn your way. So I'll give you my cell number and I'll fit myself into your schedule. How's that sound?"Â?
