Rachyl stands a scant five feet tall. Dark red tresses flow about her head, tied back in a ponytail. A few wild curls dip in her vision, and she is forever blowing them out of her sight or wisking them behind an ear with a finger. Bright green eyes with flecks of gold sparkle above pale but rosy cheeks. Now that she is older she still wears tight jeans, but prefers skirts or slacks - habits picked up from her time as an office intern. She prefers sneakers, but can function in heels. Her teeth, though brilliant white, are not perfectly aligned and could probably use the services of an orthodontist. Freckles sprout along her nose and cheeks (and certain other sensitive areas of her body) when sun-tanned. She is above-average weight for her height, but is not fat - rather, she is curvy, but not voluptuous. A tiny scar can be visible (from close-up) in her right eyebrow. Her skin is flawless, except for that scar, and another, where her appendix was removed. She is toned, with strong legs, having been in several sports throughout her school years, and partaking in a regular exercise and yoga regimen. Her nails are carefully manicured, often painted a pale red or silver. Otherwise, she uses little makeup; just a little blush and pinkish lipstick for color.

Personal Questions
1. Describe your character's personality

Rachyl is a no-nonsense, say-what-she means woman who, while quick-witted and apt to toss some verbal barbs, is more often diplomatic than not. She learned a long time ago that the use of expletives, while wide-spread, is not the language one uses in business dealings, and in fact bolstered her vocabulary to offset her use of four-letter words. She processes most situations with an analytical mind, but can relate points (probably counted on less than two hands) in the last five years in which she let her emotions do the decision-making.
When making friends, she is occasionally slow to trust, and cannot be impressed with material items.
She tends to have a dry sense of humor, but enjoys physical and body function comedy movies.
She is easy to talk to, and in general listens more than she talks. When speaking of something she's interested in, she tends to be passionate.

2. Describe how your character would appear to a stranger (I.E. typical dress, way they carry themselves etc.)

Generally well dressed (except for laundry day, as an example), her hair is in a perpetual ponytail. Carries herself with poise and moves gracefully.

3. What does your character like?

Pizza. Bacon, olives, extra cheese. Philly Cheesesteaks, but will raucously condemn a poorly made "substitute" when not at home. Weakness for decent cheesecake. Watches movies... tends to shy away from teen angst flicks and horrors but may watch if the company's worth it. Likes bubble baths, puppies, and kittens, rabbits (but no other rodents). She enjoys reading, generally choosing fantasy over romance, or modern fiction over science fiction.

4. Dislike?

Forcefully unrelenting or one-track-minded people. Irresponsibility. Driving. Rachyl also hates getting dirty for what she would term "no reason," though is perfectly willing to do her own "dirty work." As an example, she hates cleaning the bathroom, but would do dishes in an instant.

5. (For humans) Describe what abilities you see your character having if they were turned.

While I would rather explore the world as a human for a while, I imagine Rachyl would possess: Agility, Contortion, Empathy, Shapeshifting

6. What are your fears?

Rachyl suffers from paralipophobia - the fear of neglecting duty or responsibility. As such, she will go to often extreme lengths to complete a task she sees as her duty, or to fulfill responsibilities given her, sometimes neglecting personal needs.
She also hates driving, and is afraid to get behind the wheel. She takes mass-transit, gets a ride, walks, or rides a bicycle.

7. What is your character's strengths and weaknesses?
Rachyl has always been good with math, and especially with money. Frugal to the point of being referred to by one friend as an "honorary Jew", she saves as much as possible and endlessly debates the pros and cons of any major purchase.
She is slow to trust most men, but finds the men she does trust tend to be among her closest friends.
Fastidious almost to a fault, she frets over keeping herself as well as her workspace or home presentable for business or company.
She accepted losing her father early, but has yet to come to terms with "losing" her mother.

Hobbies & Skills

Rachyl learned the trumpet throughout her school and early college years.
She is also the equivalent of a Sho-dan (first rank blackbelt) in Aikido.
She can type 100 words a minute, and has real estate brokerage, remodelling, and decorating training.

Quirks and Habits worthy of mention
Rachyl is allergic to synthetic sweeteners. As such, she drinks mostly water or fruit juice, or the occasional hot tea or coffee with real sugar.
She doesn't like the taste of plain white milk, and often flavors it with chocolate or cereal.

Personal History

Rachyl was the first and only child born to Jack and Renee. When Rachyl was six, the family had been on a trip to the Jersey Shore when they stopped at a rest stop. When the ladies went in to use the rest room, her father left, tossing their overnight bag onto the curb. (He was never seen or heard from again.) They returned to their home town of Millville, NJ, and their run-down rancher home.
Rachyl was raised then solely by her mother, a real estate broker. Her mother never remarried, though did have occasional man-friends visit, and hosted "Girls Night In" with her officemates monthly.
Through some rather shrewd real estate dealings, Rachyl's mother (Renee) became able to afford first a better domicile, gymnastics classes, then music lessons (trumpet), and eventually Aikido instruction for Rachyl. Renee taught her everything she knew about real estate, the corresponding laws, and also a good deal about remodelling and decorating.
Rachyl spent the better part of four summers working at a (Native American) reserve in South Jersey. There she learned how to care for livestock, learned how to make art with beads and rope, and explored the "hidden" side of her heritage. After the son of the chieftain invited her to a dance commemorating the summer solstice, she became known as Satinka, or "magic dancer." Though she had no formal dance training, she impressed the chieftain, his family, and the tribe, and received an open invitation to return when she wished.
When in school she favored tight jeans and shirts which either bared her midriff or were low-cut to display her generous "assets" (and tended to get her in trouble occasionally).
Living in Millville her whole life, she graduated from the local high school "summa cum laude," fourth in a class of sixty-nine. After high school, she went into college for her MBA (and graduated) with intentions to become a real estate broker, and even interned with her mother's office, until they had a falling-out, after which she left New Jersey.
While not gifted, but certainly dedicated, Rachyl contributed heavily to her schools' respective writing compilations and received positive praise from her teachers.
She also, however, had a habit of bending the law, trespassing often on dilapidated, condemned, sealed, or just private property (especially ones her mother was in the process of selling.) Rumors abound that she used her "feminine wiles" to certain ends, but that has never been confirmed or denied by Rachyl.
Her mother taught her - rather, drilled into her - the meaning of responsibility and duty (using her husband's abandonment as a frequent example.) As such, Rachyl has a strong sense of responsibility.
In college, Rachyl was almost date-raped, but escaped with minimal harm (physically or mentally. Her attacker was not so fortunate.) Because of this, she tends to have suspicions about men who buy her drinks or bear gifts for no reason.
Rachyl was preparing for her examination for Sho-dan (first rank black belt) during her second semester of college when she was struck with appendicitis. She nearly died due to the unfortunate coincidence of Millville's entire ambulance, rescue, and fire departments (one unit each) being occupied with a horrible natural gas refinery fire. She was bed-ridden for almost three months afterwards, and lost a good deal of her muscle tone and flexibility.
Through the intervening years she has gradually recovered, and is nearly back to the point she was. She has not investigated continuing her lessons, though she does continue to practice regularly.
The one time Rachyl left New Jersey, (really the tri-state area, because school field trips did go to Philadelphia on occasion) was for a national band competition in California. Otherwise, her travel experience is limited to South Jersey, Philly, and Northern Delaware. She is not naive about the rest of the country or the world, but would definately have the "wow" look on her face when going to new places.

Rachyl is in Nachton because the bus ticket was the cheapest.

Odd Questions(To help define your character)
1. A stranger at a bar offers your character a drink, what is a typical response?

"Thanks, but realize that my accepting the drink is in no way a promise for future sex, nor is it an indication I find you attractive. It's merely cheaper for me to take it."

2. Your character finds a lost child alone on the streets. What do they do?

Keep the child calm, and contact the authorities.

3. A barfight erupts in the nightclub your character is in, what do they do?

She would stay where she is unless in immediate danger, in which case she would move as far away as possible. If attacked directly, she would impose a hold on her attacker and subdue him.

4. What animal does your character most identify with?

While Rachyl has always found horses to be admirable creatures - their grace, steadfastness, and reliability - she realized with the assistance of a medicine man that her animal totem (the spirit of an animal to guide oneself) would be the raccoon. Clever, quick, dextrous, adaptable, fastidious.

Note: As mentioned above, I would rather explore the world as a human for a while, than jump into vampirism. Like Meegan, my knowledge of such subjects is limited.

Rachyl 18 years ago
Since the question was asked, Rachyl does not (currently) have any piercings or tattoos. She only has the appendectomy scar on her lower abdomen (right side) and the scar in her right eyebrow.
