Reign's Home

From the outside, there is nothing at all remarkable about the one story house. It sits on a corner lot doing nothing at all to attract attention. The front yard isn't terribly large and is surrounded by a thick low hedge to keep people from walking across it. One tree sits on the side of the lawn closest to the street, but it keeps the worst of the noonday sun out of the house and makes the yard pleasant. Up the walk way is a small porch, but there are no chairs, no indications that it is ever used.

Entering the front hallway there isn't much remarkable to see, a small wood hutch with eclectically framed pictures; mostly of blond and blue-eyed people is the only thing there. Immediately off to the left of the hallway is one of the two reasons the house was purchased, a large great room. The room looks out onto the front lawn and would be an inviting place to spend time, but there is no furniture save one or two long legged chairs that stand about the same height as bar stools and a table of the same height. The focus of the room is a large pool table, a nine footer, league standard, but the felt was a midnight blue rather than green. If she wanted green she'd go to a hall. On the walls are racks, cues, a few pictures of a blond woman at a pool table or with a large trophy, and a few awards.

At the end of the hall was the family room, which like the rest of the house has white and beige color scheme. A large plush sofa and loveseat, both beige, but having bright true blue throw pillows on them face an entertainment center. A wooden coffee table is conveniently placed between them. There is usually a copy of Smithsonian magazine and at least one or two books on it. TV, DVD player, VCR, and one or two random gaming systems are neatly housed in the non-descript wood and glass unit which is also packed with a very odd assortment of movies and TV on DVD as well as games and CDs. The top of the unit holds a series of impressive trophies. There are also three tall bookcases that are packed near solid, but impeccably organized. The books are an even more eclectic mix than the movies. Some of the books are in Latin, there are also English translations of Greek and Roman classics, mythology, history (mostly classical history but stretching into the middle ages and early American history), astronomy, other sciences, art, classic and modern sci-fi, historical fiction, a few children's and young adult books, some are obviously text books. While only a few of the books are battered with the exception of a few apparently expensive hardback all have obviously been read and referenced. The only art in the room is a framed poster for Led Zeppelin's Swan Song Records, the falling Icarus figure.

To the right of the family room is the kitchen. The kitchen isn't exactly a focal point of the house but you can find what you're looking for and leads into a small dinning area with little dinette set that seats four in it. However, the table is covered with books, papers, notes, pens and a powerful little laptop in the middle of the mess. The dinning room boasts a framed print of the Parthenon. Regardless of the fine art, eating there would be an impossibility. Also in the kitchen are two large dog bowls, one full of water the other presently empty.

To the left of the family room is one bathroom and further down, two bedrooms. The one facing the street is obviously a guest room, an Ikea special room in a box. The back bedroom, which has the master bath off it, has an unmade bed of no particular style. The sheets are blue as is the comforter and there is a three drawer nightstand on either side of the bed. One has mostly socks in it, the other holds more books. A small stand holds a TV/DVD combo, modest stereo and more of the CD and DVD collection. There is an eight-drawer dresser with very little cluttering the surface, a brush and comb, a bottle of amber oil instead of any perfume, and a snow globe holding a model of Wrigley field. The art in this room is a large poster of the gas clouds in the Eagle Nebula. The only other furniture in the room is a very large beige dog bed neatly tucked into one corner.

The other reason the house was purchased is the backyard. Which is very large, a benefit of a corner lot. It hasn't been exactly landscaped but it is pretty enough, healthy green grass, a doghouse, and a couple of trees. An attempt has been made to use the yard, a swing and a lounge chair with a small table have been placed in parts of the yard that tend to remain shady. There is also a small shed off in the corner, it does still hold some tools but is primarily used for making home brewed beers. Reign doesn't go in there often, she is more land lord than anything as far as the shed goes.
