Balancing the scales...

The pathetic creature groveling before him disgusted Mathias on multiple levels. For what he was,for what he did and lastly for how he faced his fate. Have some dignity and honor! But then again, why start now Mathias mused to himself as his victim threw a broad swing at his knees,to which a bone crushing kick answered.

24 hours before....

"This man..is..how do you say, a real hard asp..." Vitaly pointed at the picture in front of Mathias. "Hard ass, tovarisch" Mathias gently corrected the larger man. Mathias was one of the few who could lecture the organystia boss and hope to retain full use of his limbs.

One of the first things he did when returning to Nachton was re-establish his contacts with the Russian mob. It had proved to be a fruitful relationship - providing access to weapons, information and perhaps a small reminder of Russia. Occaisonally when there was something that needed to be handled "out of house" they would ask Mathias to assist them.

This was one of those times. A mid level killer liked to take his work frustrations out on his wife and child. Many were Vitaly's sins but the abuse of women and children was not one of them. It was an odd trait and had earned the nickname "Teddy Bear"..but not something you repeated to him. Normally this would have been a simple hit - however the man's uncle was highly placed on the food chain, above even Vitaly..so a certain..delicateness had to be observed. And thus Mathias presence today.

The darkness of the apartment covered Mathias like a blanket. Most of the items were still here - as two of its previous 3 occupants were more concerned with leaving and the third was not involved in the process.

Mathias 'felt' his target's arrival before the fumbling of the lock could be heard. The smell of vodka and too many missed showers were announcement enough, but he was heralded by cursing in Russian regarding what he would do to the slovenly bitch when he got in...

Mathias waited until the man was inside, the door locking being his cue.

"Privet, I bear a message for you from Vitaly Piotrvitch Nastalikov." Two quick taps of the trigger and Yevgeny's kneecaps disappear. The man howls with with pain, fear and confusion. A predator has become prey, and cannot adjust. A boot lashes out,and Yevgeny's head snaps with the blow, teeth and blood spraying out. He tries to scream, tries to call for help. But those same souls who ignored his wife and daughters cries now ignore his own...a fitting circle Mathias thought.

"You have abandoned your covenant,as husband and as father. You have terrorized and abused those who deserved your love, compassion and protection. For these sins, and ones too deviant to mention - you have been judged and found wanting"

Let the games begin

Mathias 18 years ago
In the end,it was like so many others - Yevgeny died, and Mathias fed upon him. Another villain dead, someone no one would miss or even remember. One good deed against several lifetimes of evil. When do the scales begin to balance? He had no answers and less comfort, but he knew what he did was necessary and even 'good'. There were those that justice and the law could not touch or did not care to - and if Mathias had to damn himself a little more to balance the scales, then so be it.

He arrived to an empty home, the lights out. Shay's note said she had decided to go for a run. The idea had some appeal for Mathias, for while he was sated there was still a restlessness a hunger that burned inside him. Perhaps running with Shay would help him. If nothing else being with Shay would help him.

((OOC - Mathias out,please lock))
