Funeral Flowers (Attn: Fallon)

Suki very carefully arranged a large bouquet of white carnations to be delivered with a note and clipping. The magazine was the hardest thing to arrange. But soon the young woman had a very tasteful sympathy card that she wrote in and the clipping in hand. Using quite a bit of artistic license and familiar prerogative she signed the card on behalf of Cyrus simply.

"My condolences, Cyrus"

Nodding, happily she watched the florist make an elaborate arrangement of flowers, babies breath and ferns intertwined with a black satin ribbon. The vase was a pale white cheap thing that Suki hoped Fallon threw out with the flowers upon their death.

The driver arrived and picked up the delivery which should arrive before its recipient left for work. Within the hour Fallon would have the information that Ted was dead. Suki included her card with a single line written on it.
"Call me if you need anything."

Putting the finishing touches on her hair, Fallon turned off the bathroom light and started into her bedroom to grab her coat and purse. Before she reached the room the doorbell rang and she did a quick spin towards the sound.

Seeing the flowers, Fallon's head tilted in question.

"Hi...can I help you?"

She asked the delivery man, her curiosity growing with each second.

'Fallon Tierney? These are for you...sign please.'

The man was polite and all business, so Fallon signed where he indicated, and took the vase.

"Thank you. Oh, wait a moment please."

Taking the carnations and setting them on the table inside the door, Fallon ran into her room and grabbed a few bills from her wallet, which she then gave to the delivery man, before shutting the door.

Looking at the flowers, Fallon was surprised by the black bow, in addition to the fact that she had never received flowers before. Seeing the card she snatched it off the holder, and pulled it from the envelope. When the card came out, a news clipping fell out, along with a business card, both floating to the floor.

The card was from Cyrus, but her smile turned into a frown when she read the word 'condolences'. Immediately Fallon thought Cyrus was cancelling their date, and her heart sunk. Bending down to pick up the two pieces of paper on the floor, she noted the business card first. It was from Suki. Evidently she knew about the cancelled date and was telling Fallon she would be around to commiserate, if Fallon needed.

Lastly Fallon turned over the news article, and began to read it. There was an air of quiet detachment as Fallon read about Ted's death. No emotion plagued her...it would have been the same if she were reading about John Doe being hit by a car and killed. Her heart was stone when it came to anything having to do with Ted, and his death did not change that.

She sat down in a cloud of...nothing. No thoughts...no emotions. But then she smiled. Cyrus hadn't cancelled!

Fallon stood up and leaned down to smell the flowers, before tucking the cards underneath the vase. Smiling she made her way to her room, grabbed her purse, and coat, and locked up before going on about her night.

Suki kept her phone clipped to her belt all night. If Fallon needed her, she was available. All throughout her shopping and visits to the Piazza she kept an ear open for her phone to burst into Pink Floyd's 'Wish you were here'.

At 4am, the hotel room was amazingly decorated with a Do Not Disturb sign hanging from the handle. Satisfied she made her way home.
