Party Time?

It certainly was a good thing Fallon didn't work weekends. As it was, it seemed to be taking an inordinately long time to get everything organized for her dinner Wednesday night.

Having set one of the bags on the porch chair, while she unlocked the front door and went inside to put down the other three bags, she returned to the porch and grabbed it now. Then she realized the bag held things that she had bought for the porch, so she set it back down. She would deal with that project later.

For about the fifth time tonight, she wished she had asked Aishe if she wanted to help, but for the fifth time tonight she agreed that it wouldn't have been much of a treat for Aishe if she helped put it together.

No, Fallon was bound and determined to do this on her own, and suffer the consequences.

So far she had received three RSVPs, the sweetest having been Ana's. Such a nice message to leave on her voice mail. But there was still time, and if it turned out there would only be three others, that would still be three more at a party than she'd ever had before.

Noticing she was still standing on the front porch, Fallon laughed before turning and going back inside.

Once she had put the food away, certain she had enough for a house full of frat boys, she gathered all the candles together on the table, and then set out to distribute them through the house. Thinking they would make her house more festive, with spending the smallest amount of money, she had bought many. And they were all in complimenting scents. With winter still upon them in Nachton, Fallon had gone with comfort scents...cinnamon, apple pie, and vanilla. She now just hoped having the house smell like baked goodies wouldn't be offensive to anyone.

Taking the small stack of papers from her purse, she set them inside her bar. She had devised a list of items for the scavenger hunt, and had them printed up. Now she just had to remember where they were, and hope everyone would have fun playing.

Tucking the folded paper bags from her shopping under her kitchen sink, Fallon poured herself a glass of white zin, and went to sit on the porch. The night air was still crisp, but not as biting as it had been the past few nights. Setting her wine glass down, she took the other batch of candles out of the bag on the porch, and the little tin covers, and scattered them around. Some went on the railing, some went along the steps, and some were hung from hooks the prior tenants had left in the porch ceiling. Fallon took the long lighter from the bag, lit all the outside candles, and smiled. It did look very party like, and though it was a small effort, it made her feel a lot better about how things were going to go...or how she hoped they would.

Ana stepped backwards out of the bathroom then walked hand-in-hand with Fallon to the sofa. She gently sat her friend down.

Questions whirled in her mind. Theories, postulations, stories. Fallon wasn't looking at her again, so she reached out with her unfettered hand and gently turned the lovely woman's face to look at her.

"I'm sure you can guess that, as a librarian and self-proclaimed bookworm, I read a lot. And you probably also have a few ideas in your own mind of what just happened."

She took Fallon's hand in her own and held it firmly. Its warmth surprised her; most vampire literature she'd read implied a coolness of the creature's body. But Fallon was... warm and vibrant. Which, kind of made sense, since she did just have a snack... "I'm not being accusatory; rather I'm making statements that you can either confirm or deny, but I hope you'll be honest with me."

She swallowed as her thumb slowly brushed across Fallon's skin. So warm. "First thought that jumps to mind is that you're a hemomaniac, that is, someone who craves blood, whether seeing it, tasting it, or feeling it. The second option, which in my own realistically logical mind seems less likely, is that you're a vampire. Either way, it doesn't really bother me, as far as what just happened, but I hope you trust me enough to tell me the truth."

Truth be told, Fallon was much cuter than Julie Benz, and thankfully, if she -were- a vampire, her forehead didn't do the Buffy-vampire-scrunching thing.

She just didn't know which direction her assumptions should start going wild.
Fallon 18 years ago
Sitting down, Fallon was in a bit of a daze. Though she had grown much stronger in temperament, and confidence since her turning, she still tended to avoid conflict, and just hide from the really unpleasant things she came into contact with. So now she remained quiet, and passive, and just listened to Ana.

Ana...sweet Ana...how she could remain so matter of fact, and concerned, after what had just happened? It boggled Fallon's mind that the girl hadn't run from her, especially since she had pretty much figured out Fallon's secret all on her own. She touched Fallon as if nothing had happened at all...and even more strangely she was offering comfort to Fallon, in her small, soft touches.

Fallon could do no less than explain, but she hoped once all was said and done that she still had a friend in Ana.

"I am a vampire."

The words came out in barely a whisper. And once they had, Fallon became afraid.

"But you can't tell anyone! What happened tonight...I don't normally go around feeding on my friends! I guess I just got caught up in the preparations for the party, and didn't think..."

Fallon hit her forehead with the heel of her hand three times in emphasizing the fact that she had issues with not thinking things out always.

Her eyes seeking Ana's, she hoped to see confirmation in her friend's face.

"Really, I promise. I never would have even thought to have bitten you...something just came over me when I saw and smelled your blood. But it won't happen again...honest."

Begging was something Fallon hadn't done in a long time. Mainly because after several months with Ted, she found it did no good. But now, with the fear of discovery, but more important of losing her friend, Fallon begged.
Montana 18 years ago
Ana could only wonder if her eyes were as wide as the "wow" that was resounding in her head implied.

"I am a vampire," Fallon had said. Whispered, actually, and very quietly. Ana wondered if she thought it was such a bad thing when her friend started... begging? Pleading? her not to tell anyone.

Then the brunette started walloping herself in the forehead, which Ana stopped with her wrapped hand. Then Fallon looked at her, all color gone from her face, her eyes filled with fear and... self-loathing?

"She's in pain," Ana realized. "Pain knowing she did it without my permission, that she could have hurt me? That I got hurt in the first place, or that she was caught off guard?"

"She's my friend," her brain reminded her as she tried to figure everything out. The simple affirmation that she was a vampire still made her mind whirl a bit... Vampires! wow. "My friend's hurting, and I know a way to help her..."

Ana moved Fallon's hands together and turned on the couch to better reach her friend, folding her left leg under her butt.
"Fallon, I won't tell a secret that is not mine to tell. It is certainly commendable that you've learned restraint to not go snacking on just anyone." She reached out and brushed a lock of her friend's luxurious hair that had fallen into her vision, obstructing Ana's view of both her eyes. She wanted Fallon to know...

"If you needed it - which you obviously did, and I can't blame you for that - you would only need to ask."

She seemed to be talking entirely too much tonight, she chastised herself internally. "If I gave you permission, would it be so bad?" She tilted her head towards the couch and brushed her hair from her shoulder to her back, baring her neck. "After all, what is friendship if not giving of each other? Sacrifice? Caring and concern for each other? So here, I offer you myself. Friends, with benefits."
Fallon 18 years ago
At first Fallon was still too caught up in her own pain and terror that she lost sight of Ana, and what she must be feeling. However, once she really 'saw' her friend she thought she also saw a myriad of thoughts pass in front of her eyes.

And Ana was still here...still sitting on the couch, even after Fallon had told her. And Ana was not only still sitting there, but she was talking to Fallon, and she was being understanding, and accepting. Fallon tried to find something in Ana's eyes to indicate a motive, but the only thing she saw was compassion. And not only was Ana still sitting there, and talking to her, but she was touching Fallon. She really didn't seem afraid at all, and Fallon could only shake her head in wonder. And now Ana...was offering herself to Fallon?! It was too much to bear.

Fallon collapsed into Ana's lap, arms going around the girls waist, hugging her, and sobbing against her thigh.

"Ana! I cannot feed from you! You are a friend, you are not food! Friends don't feed off each other. You are too kind, and trusting, and caring, I...just can't."

Tristan. Tristan she had known before feeding from him, but Tristan had barely been an acquaintance, and Tristan...well, Tristan was a man, and experienced pleasure from Fallon when she had fed. Alyssa was food, and had experienced pleasure from Fallon, but Fallon didn't care if she saw her ever again. She was convenient, but not a friend.

Sitting up and looking at Ana through wet lashes, Fallon ran a hand down the girls soft, smooth neck. So vulnerable, so trusting...but then the hunger reared itself enough that Fallon pulled her hand back quickly.

"Ana...sweetheart you've given me so much tonight. Your friendship has been offered, and I almost ruined it. Even then you offered more."

Still shaking her head, Fallon closed her eyes, and willed herself to calm down.

"I need to get you home. Thanks to you, I feel well enough to take care of my stupidity tonight, but I need to get you home first."

Smiling softly at her, Fallon's hand moved up to cup the Ana's cheek, and her thumb rubbed across the soft skin under the other girl's eye. She was a beautiful girl who should be sitting in her lover's arms now...not holding her neck up to be bitten.
Montana 18 years ago
Ana was surprised to suddenly find Fallon's face against her thigh, and sobs issuing from her friend. Her left hand came around to gently rub the woman's shoulders until she sat up. She tilted her head again as Fallon caressed her neck, but then furrowed her brows as the hand was retracted.

"Even then you offered more," Fallon said; Ana thought she could hear a note of incredulity in the woman's voice.
"I offer what I have, Fallon, it's the least I can do for all you've done for me."

She wondered if Fallon would accept the explanation that just flashed into her brain: she and the other invitees came to the party for socializing and belly filling. Why was it not fair for Ana to fill Fallon's belly? She decided to speak it as Fallon caressed her cheek. Leaning into the caress, she took Fallon's hand in hers again. "Fallon, we all came to the party for socializing and spending time with you, with a side dish of belly filling awesome grub. Is it not fair for me to help keep you fed, too?"

She knew her friend probably would not accept what Ana was offering, not until she was a bit more lucid and less panicked... but the librarian decided to try to be logical anyway. "And it's not your stupidity, Fallon, it's a testament to your dedication as a hostess and friend."
Fallon 18 years ago
Why did Ana have to sound so logical...make such sense? It just wasn't right...it wasn't the same. But now, the more she argued, she feared she might be unintentionally hurting Ana's feelings.

"Ana, what you offer goes beyond friendship. Maybe if I were starving...on the verge of perishing, it would be acceptable. But those ribs I served earlier weren't taken from my body. I'm happy beyond belief to think everyone had a good time, but it really didn't take that much effort to plan the party."

No...it just wasn't the same at all.

"And even though I took without asking, you've already saved me once this evening. Now at least I can go out and feed properly, without worry that I'll do something else stupid."

Fallon pulled Ana into a hug, and rubbed a hand up and down Ana's back.

"I do thank you, from the bottom of my heart. You are a very special, and generous woman."
Montana 18 years ago
Ana stared into Fallon's eyes, so firm as she explained again why she couldn't. She understood her friend's reasons, even if she didn't accept them.

She also didn't fully understand why she was offering, after Fallon -did- take without asking.

Was it because she'd been truly ashamed of what she'd done, and apologized? Instead of just taking again, being selfish? And that Ana had been able to offer of herself without it being a "because you did it already" situation?

She knew then she'd be lying in bed for a while pondering that when Fallon wrapped her up in a hug.
"Well, thank you, Fallon," she murmured gratefully into the woman's ear. "You're very special to me, too. Even if you are being stubborn and silly about going into the night to find what you need."

She kissed Fallon on the cheek and backed up from her friend, then took both the teaching pianist's hands in her own. "You have to come over my place some time. And we have to go out with Aishe soon, too, because it was her idea. Girls' Night Out. Or even In."
Fallon 18 years ago
Visibly relieved to hear Ana was giving up her idea, Fallon leaned into the couch sideways, and laid her head on the back of it, smiling at Ana.

"That is funny...me, stubborn, AND silly."

Fallon had been called a lot of things before but those two adjectives did not come to mind. She shook her head in mild disbelief, and then found herself nodding at Ana's suggestion.

"That would be a lot of fun...but it will have to be a 'night' out...if I'm to be part of the group. You and Aishe will have to keep me up to date with the daytime goings on."

Fallon winked, and stood up, tugging on Ana's hands.

"But for now, we need to get you home."

She insisted...not wanting to wait too much longer for sun up would be upon them soon.

"Let me get my keys, and wallet."

Patting her on the arm, she went into her bedroom and quickly returned with the items.

"Ready?"
Montana 18 years ago
Ana stood as Fallon did. "I think it's so cool that your first party went from seven in the evening to almost six in the morning. That's pretty good, I'd say," she winked at Fallon as she took her jacket from her friend's arm.

"Perhaps next time when neither of us is too... burdened," she said with a deferential nod, "we can share more of each other's lives."

She gave Fallon a sideways hug and picked up her covered plateful of food. "I have a strange series of thoughts I'd like you to be honest with me about: how did I do, socially? Did I mingle enough, or did I hang around you and Aishe too much? I didn't overdo the 'I want to help Fallon because I'm sure she did a lot of work' thing, did I?" She stood next to the front door as Fallon locked her deadbolt. "And lastly, how did I taste?"
Fallon 18 years ago
Smiling to hear the reinforcing words about her party, Fallon felt really happy. Not only because of the good words, but because Ana was saying them. It was further proof to Fallon that what had happened earlier had really not changed anything between them. Incredibly forgiving were these people Fallon had met, and once Fallon had locked the door, she turned and put an arm around Ana's shoulder, wanting to share the feeling of warmth she had inside.

"Thanks to you, I truly do feel less burdened now, but I know what you mean."

Waling down the steps and to the car, Fallon listened to her friend's questions, grinning and nodding as she identified with them all...well, up to the last one . Ushering Ana into the Rav, Fallon got in along side her, but didn't turn on the car right away.

"Ana...you mingled fine. It wasn't like there were that many people, and I think you spoke to everyone, undoubtedly more than I. I'm certainly not an authority on social abilities. This was the very first party I've ever had in my life, but I really think we both did fine."

Fallon reached across the small space between the seats and gently clasped her hand on Ana's shoulder, giving her a friendly, reassuring shake.

"I don't think you overdid anything...you were the perfect guest, and friend."

Releasing Ana's shoulder, Fallon turned on the car, and backed out of the driveway. Once they were headed towards the university, Fallon spoke again, eyes still on the road.

"And taste?" She laughed, and glanced towards Ana. "You're very sweet."
Montana 18 years ago
Ana leaned into the friendly shake. "It was my first real party, too. I was never invited to any birthday parties or the like when I was younger, even through my teens and college. I guess I was never thought of as the socializing type."

After buckling, Ana gave directions to her apartment building. "And taste?" Fallon was saying. "You're very sweet." Ana snort-laughed to herself. "Well that's good, I'd hate to taste like brussel sprouts or cabbage or something."

She was silent for a few moments except for "turn this way" or "turn that way", her thoughts going faster than the car. "I'd ask you about the whole vampire thing, but I'm sure you're tired, having been hostess and all, and unless I miss my guess, you shared more about it with someone you didn't expect to share it with, than you planned tonight." She placed a comforting, caring hand on Fallon's thigh.
Fallon 18 years ago
"I'm afraid if you had tasted like brussel sprouts, I may have spit you onto the floor!"

Fallon's intense dislike for the tiny green vegetables made her speak without thinking. A situation that was still grim in her mind, was being made easier to digest with Ana's help. She wondered if the girl knew this and was speaking out on purpose, or just randomly saying the things Fallon needed to hear.

"I really don't mind talking about things, now that I know you know, it's just when I'm not sure who is who and who knows what that I need to remember not to say anything about it. Sometimes I forget, and I think everyone is, and before I know it I'm saying something I shouldn't. Luckily I don't think I've been caught out yet...or if I have, whoever caught me was a vampire too, and was kind enough to cut me some slack.

Aishe knows though...so when we do get together, I'll be happy to answer any more questions you have. The actual experience was less than pleasurable, but since meeting Cyrus, things have done nothing but improve. I'm glad you two got along okay..."

Fallon pulled the Rav into a spot along the sidewalk, in front of the apartments Ana had indicated, and shut off the engine.

"Okay, Kiddo...let's get you home, so mammy can go find dinner."

Fallon blinked, and looked at Ana with a look of complete surprise.

"I can't believe I just said that."

And laughing she put her hand to her mouth.
Montana 18 years ago
Ana smirked at Fallon's reaction to brussel sprouts. The little green bags of sawdust weren't her favorite, not in the slightest. Nor were ... she stopped that train of thought because she just didn't want to gross herself out.

"Perhaps you think more people are, than truly are, because you've been lucky enough to spend time mostly with vampires? Aishe isn't, at least I don't think so. We spent quite some time together and she didn't show any stereotypical signs. Indeed, you didn't, either, until I cut myself." She pointed to the last turn on to her street. "Speaking of, I put the knife in the drainboard and cleaned the blood off the floor."

Ana listened more as Fallon continued. "I'm glad you two got along okay." She snorted. "I hope so. I told him he needs to be nice to you." She giggled, and pointed to the front door of her building. Fallon pulled up to the sidewalk and shut off the car.

"Okay Mammy," she quipped irreverently, then giggled with Fallon. "My offer still stands, you know. And you don't need to say anything more on that, mmkay? Mmmkay."

She leaned across the RAV's center console and gave her friend a hug. "Good night, Fallon. Enjoy your breakfast and thank you so -very much- for a wonderful evening!" She gave her friend a light kiss on the cheek.
Fallon 18 years ago
"No...Aishe isn't like me."

And though there was a lot more there to that story, Fallon knew it wasn't her place to say anything about it. Fallon would need to remember to tell Aishe though...that she had spoken to Ana.

"Thanks for that...taking care of the kitchen, and letting me know I've not got VAMPIRE stamped across my forehead. Sometimes it does kind of feel like there should be a scarlet letter there."

Fallon giggled at the thought of Ana telling Cyrus to do or not do anything. Fallon knew there was a wild side to Cyrus, and that she might need to talk to him about Ana specifically as well. Fallon would never presume to tell Cyrus to do or not do anything either...but she might be able to persuade him to see Ana as off limits. Besides, Cyrus had such a vast stable of meals at his disposal, Fallon couldn't see him refusing her this request.

Hearing the 'mammy'word again made Fallon cringe, but she refrained from saying anything. She knew Ana was teasing.

When Ana yet again offered to feed Fallon, Fallon's eyes looked down at the clock on the dash. It was getting later every second, and now Fallon was quickly trying to figure out how much time she truly had. If Ana left now, it would take her a few minutes to drive to the Eternity Club...but as late as it was, what if there wasn't anyone outside? Fallon suspected a large part of the clientele there was vampire, and they would have surely gone home by now. If she had to drive around too much longer, and did finally find someone, would she have time to coerce them into a state where she could feed? Fallon didn't think she could just attack someone...or hadn't thought she could have until she had done just that to Ana earlier.

Her stomach was tied in knots, and she was becoming more and more fretful as she sat there thinking. When Ana hugged her, and kissed her cheek, Fallon whimpered. Not knowing if it was the hunger, pure and simple, or the fact that she had already tasted Ana, Fallon did feel a strong pull towards the younger woman. And again having her neck so close, Fallon could taste the sweetness she had only briefly felt against her tongue.

Without another thought, Fallon moved her hand behind Ana's hair, and pulled it off her neck. Fallon pressed her lips to the spot that felt right, where there was heat, and the sweetest smell, as if Ana's blood was calling her. Her tongue tasted the skin, and her lips kissed it again, and Fallon pushed Ana away a few inches, to see her face. Fallon's hand lovingly held Ana's face within them.

"It's late...I'm frightened...I may no longer have time...are you sure...are you really, really sure that if we do this there won't be any change in our friendship?"
Montana 18 years ago
A shiver ran over Ana's body, from the point on her neck where Fallon'd kissed her, down her spine and back up from her toes to her belly.

Butterflies flitted there; Fallon asked about changes. She nodded demurely as her sense of protection flared up.
"Let's get you parked, and we'll go inside. More privacy... and if you need you can stay the night. I have a bed that'll be free, and we can cover the windows with newspapers from the recycling center. So start this puppy back up and let's get you taken care of."
Fallon 18 years ago
Still skeptical about the entire situation, Fallon was too pressed now for time. She made a mental note to buy a watch with an alarm, and do everything in her power never to get into another situation like this again.

Turning on the key, she moved the car to the parking garage, and found a spot in the area Ana advised was closest to her place. Getting out of the Rav, she waited until Ana was out as well, and clicked the auto locks.

Walking around the car to where Ana stood, Fallon locked there arms, and smiled a little tiredly. She was somewhat resigned, but not totally happy.

"All right kiddo...guess I'm seeing your place sooner rather than later."
Montana 18 years ago
Ana smirked at Fallon, but the twist of her lips was taken away by the shorter woman's own expression. She looked tired. Taking Fallon's hand, she opened the door from the parking garage into the apartments.

She leaned into the recycling center on the way past, grabbing a handful of old papers. Around the corner and a short set of steps, Ana led Fallon into the cubby that housed the elevator.

"Eight floors of college students, and one post-graduate librarian. It's a pretty interesting place. My neighbor helped me with the dress for the ball, I was very grateful to her, but she's still treating social situations like that as if they were the prom or a club outing. I forced myself to get a long dress. I think I saw you there, though, but I just felt so out of..."

The elevator dinged six. "Mine's at the end of the hall." They followed the hall around to the door. The light in the hall was extremely dim this early in the morning; Ana had never been out so late. The rainbow would have been a nice little daylight pickup; she was glad she didn't work that next day. Same day. Thursday. She unlocked the door and stepped aside to let Fallon in.

"Home sweet home."
Fallon 18 years ago
Moving on auto pilot, the only thing really on Fallon's mind was to feed, and sleep. Consequently, she only heard bits and pieces of what Ana was telling her.

"Students...neighbor...dress...?"

[i]She was sliding in and out of clarity, but latched on to the slight change in Ana's words...talking about things around her to talking about how she had felt...and then not saying.

"You should have said hello..."

But then Fallon was looking down the hall...how they had gotten there, she wasn't quite sure. A sudden second wind struck, and Fallon was again very alert. She had to feed, and feed soon, or...well, she didn't know what. But it was daunting enough to imagine what could happen, and those visions were not good. Picking up the pace a little, she wound up almost pulling Ana towards her place, by the time they reached it.

"Colorful."

She mentioned, seeing all the colors on the walls, but not wanting to spend too much time talking about it. Quickly moving inside the apartment, Fallon noticed the windows right off.

"Ana?! I need to find a place away from the sun...is there a closet...or bathroom I can sleep in?"

Feed first then sleep...Fallon's eyes were growing wilder by the minute as she tried to avoid grabbing her friend and sinking her fangs into her neck. Anyone would have known Fallon was anxious about something, the way she wrung her hands, and chewed her lip...and never taking her eyes off Ana.
Montana 18 years ago
Ana steered Fallon to the couch. "Give me three minutes, please," she said, and quickly unwrapped the bundle of newspaper. Grabbing a roll of packing tape from the top of the fridge, she taped the lower three-quarters of the east-facing window. She wasn't sure how much sun would come in. Each day it was rising a few seconds earlier, a minute, sometimes two, but so far the clock tower blocked it.

She didn't want to take the chance of hurting Fallon.

She left the remaining newspaper under the window and pulled the rolly-blind. Grabbing a hair tie from her dresser, she wrapped it around her now-wild mane to form a single ponytail. Shedding her jacket, tossed it towards the door middle door on the wall, she slid out of her duster and draped it across the back of the couch.

As she sat next to Fallon, she said,
"You get the bed. No sunlight comes through those windows. And don't argue with me."

Reaching to her face, she removed her glasses, reached to set them on the coffee table, and then stopped. She put them back on.

Left leg on the floor, right leg tucked under her thigh, she leaned against the back of the couch and tilted her head.
"Whenever you're ready."
Fallon 18 years ago
Again Fallon was flirting with lucidity. Her mind was focused on feeding, but her body was finding it more and more difficult to remain standing...functioning...she was growing so sleepy.

She knew Ana was doing something...putting newspaper on the windows...but it was a very small part of her brain that actually registered the purpose of the action.

When Ana returned to sit next to Fallon, she could feel she was sitting on the couch but didn't remember when she had sat down. Her eyes hadn't left Ana as she was moving around the room, and watching as Ana 'readied' herself, Fallon licked her lips. She didn't need another offer, or gesture of willingness by Ana. Fallon was again beyond control, having just given in to the hunger.

She put an arm around Ana's waist, and moved over the girl, her lips kissing the side of her mouth, and all the way down until she reached the spot she had kissed earlier. Fallon's tongue licked across the artery, gasping as she again felt the blood within, rushing...the noise almost deafening in her ears...

She pulled what little sanity she could find into her thoughts, and gently slid her fangs into the skin there, groaning as Ana's blood began seeping into her mouth. Wanting the experience not to be painful for her friend, Fallon focused on trying to treat Ana as tenderly as possible, but sliding her fangs even deeper. As the blood filled her mouth and threatened to seep out, Fallon fed, swallowing, and feeling her thirst begin to abate.
