Girl Talk

Leaving the library, Fallon wished she had driven her Rav, so she could store her books there. It wasn't more than a nuisance carrying the small paperback, but it meant she had to remember she had them with her.

Aishe, on the other hand, had quite an armful.

"Did you drive? Want to store your books while we eat? If not, I can help you carry them."

Realizing she could get her three smaller books into her rather large purse, Fallon held her arms out.

"And, unless you have another idea, I did see a really cute little restaurant up around the corner there, that I'd love to try."

These places were much pricier than Fallon was accustomed to, or that she really should be frequenting, but because Fallon's diet had decreased dramatically lately, she felt that when she did decide to eat, it should be worth it. No more 'Micki D's' for her. Of course if Aishe had other wishes, she would be more than accommodating...as usual.

Aishe was touched by Fallon's offer of support, and that fortified her belief that they was definitely to remain friends. "Thank you, Fallon. I'll remember that."

She knew Fallon was teasing when she offered to invite Kem to the party-to-be, but the idea still made Aishe blush. "That's not fair," she said. Still, she looked a bit wistful. "Maybe at the next one."

Fallon was looking thoughtful, and Aishe waited a moment until she said what was on her mind. The question was an interesting one. Serving blood? It would certainly be appropriate if those at the party were all vampires... but Aishe didn't even know that for certain, and in addition, she wasn't aware of the logistics of doing so.

"I don't think serving blood would be necessary," Aishe said. "Not only that but as far as I know, the fresher the better - you see?"

She supposed it would be something like serving a TV dinner at a five star restaurant, but this was a perfect example of something she probably wasn't much help on.

In the meantime, the waiter brought the bill and Aishe handed him her card, forestalling any protest from Fallon. After all, it had really been Aishe's meal. "On me," she said with a smile.

Smacking the heel of her hand into her forehead, Fallon nodded at the 'fresh' factor. Not to mention she did know not everyone there would even be the type who enjoyed blood. Aishe for one, and Tristan for another...possibly Ana.

"Oh Aishe...that's another thing I'm going to need to remember - everyone in Nachton isn't like me. If Tristan joins us, I know he's human..."

She snickered.

"Can you imagine the look on his face if he were to go to the bar and find a pitcher of blood sitting there?"

Fallon covered her face with her hands in embarrassment.

When she took her hands down, she saw the waiter had brought the check, and Aishe was offering to pay for the entire meal.

She hated this part of going out to dinner. The offer was generous, and Fallon still wasn't rolling in money, but it always made her feel a little like charity when she didn't pay her own way. The only person she didn't feel that way with was Cyrus, and that was because the man threw hundred dollar bills around like they were ones. That wasn't to say she appreciated his efforts any less, only that it didn't bother her the same way.

"Thank you so much, my friend. But next time will be my treat."

Sipping the last of her coffee, she folded her napkin and laid it on the table.

"I am going to make the famous 'restroom' walk. Did you wish to join me?"

Taking care of that business would then free her up to walk home.

Aishe silently thanked fate for Fallon's face-covering embarrassment, which enabled her to get away with offering up her card for payment of their meal. When Fallon thanked her, she waved a hand vaguely.

"You barely ate anything," she reminded her friend. "Don't worry about it!"

Aishe glanced down at her stack of books, reluctant to leave them unattended for a restroom trip. "I'll stay here," she said. She still had to sign the charge slip anyhow. "I don't want to leave my books. Not that I think they might get taken... but they aren't mine, after all."

In the meantime she sat back and closed her eyes, sipping at the remainder of her tea with a smile on her face, feeling relaxed and happy.

Making quick work of her bathroom needs, including a glance into the mirror to notice the color of her hair, and any lines around her eyes...things that she now knew would be her visual makeup for the rest of her existence, Fallon returned.

"Whelp, I'm all set. Did you want some more tea?"

Like a dog with a new bone, Fallon wanted to start to work on her party plans as soon as she could, in hopes that she could pull it off within the week.

"I really don't mean to rush you, but the more I think about the dinner party, the more excited I become, and that seems to be filling my head with all kinds of thoughts that I might forget if I don't get them written down."

She probably sounded like a teenager planning her first slumber party, but since Fallon had never had one of those either, she knew it would take her longer than the average hostess to just plan the night.

Aishe stood and smiled at Fallon. Her enthusiasm was contagious.

"I'm good to go," she said. She picked up her pile of books and made her way out the door with Fallon, ignoring the staring waiter as she left. Huh. Too bad he hadn't gone for Fallon instead, it might have been a luckier night for him.

"I can't wait to see what you cook up for your party," she said as they headed out, "and I'm glad we had dinner!"

Aishe managed a one-armed hug without jabbing Fallon in the ribcage with the corner of a book, and they said their goodbyes outside the restaurant.

"Call me if you need help planning anything," Aishe said as they parted.

Then she turned her feet toward home, looking forward to about 30 pounds of light reading.
