Entrance (open to all Anantya)

Apollyon closed the door to his car and walked up to the mansion, a lit cigarette in his mouth and still in the same armor he was at the ball. a small droplet of dried blood hung from under the left side of his bottom lip.the outside of the manor was breathtaking, he thought to himself as he entered into the foyer. the architecture and decor of this place was unbelievable, he hadn't seen anything like this since his tenure in europe, and even this seemed to make the richest castle he'd been in seem like a pauper's hut. Looking around himself he wondered if anyone was around.....

Mai
"Why do you want to be covered in sugar? Is this some new hunting technique?"

Talon half smiled to himself..

"Come on Half-Pint, I'll show you a hunting technique, where you smear chocolate frosting all over yourself" he grinned "It attracts prey with a sweet tooth"

Butler
you might care to continue the evening's festivities by taking drinks on the balcony?"Â?

"What you mean is get the hell outa the foryer before you break something, eh?" he said his grin still firmly in place, but in his mind he was picturing a Stoat covered in frosting running across Morrigan's desk and expensive furniture..

Apollyon's ears perked up at the mention of a music room.

"That would be perfect." He relied to Rupert. Turning to the rest of the group,he said, "And if you all are up for it, I'd be happy to join you all for drinks once I get myself settled."

taking his cue from Rupurt, Apollyon followed him out of the foyer to his new quarters. As he walked out of the foyer he started singing the lyrics to the Def Leppard song with perfect tone, as if he's listened to it a thousand times.

"I'm hot sticky-sweet, from my head to my feet Yea"

Mai was quite cute when puzzled. The song Amberelle had been singing was not a recent tune and quite risque if Cyrus remembered it correctly. Perhaps he should quietly explain to the elder that it was not hunting in the sense that she thought.

Noting that this butler was pretty much like his majordomo Shen had been, though it had been over 200 years ago. Cyrus gave him an appreciative nod and his thanks. "Thank you very much. And please, just Cyrus. Though I missed your name."

Cyrus frowned at Talon's disrespectful comment to Mai. He saw no need to confuse the issue. Stepping towards may but off to one side he quietly explained. "If I recall the song was not about hunting prey but more carnal in nature."

Noting a mirror set upon the wall, he rummaged through his pockets to find his onyx curved hoops with their rubber stops. He carefully began fitting them in his ears and eyebrow. Perhaps in private he could dig up one for his lip and nose.

"Drinks is exactly what I had in mind before finding my bed."

Rupert nodded his head in acknowledgement of both Mr. Sarimir and Mr. Arslantai …Cyrus, rather.

“Rupert Burke at your service.”

Ignoring Talon’s little jab with nearly regal dignity and the interaction regarding the music with slightly less, he motioned for Mr. Sarimir to follow, stating before he left:

“I will serve drinks on the balcony, then, when I return.”

/ooc Butler is out with Apollyon, though he’ll return to see to you all momentarily if you want to go ahead about your business
Mai 18 years ago
Mai frowned at Talon's suggestion and stated her opinion.

"It sounds wasteful."

Westerners were a people she would never understand. They used excess to compensate for a lack of patience and hard work. How their culture ever managed to succeed in the world still amazed her, that they somehow managed to be the most successful seemed like a cosmic lesson. It was only a matter of time before the excess of their ways brought their downfall. Had she not seen this with many empires of the past?

Cyrus's statement made the subject more clear however and she nodded her gratitude.

"It is an odd courting ritual then."

Turning back to Amberelle she stated solemnly.

"Does the singing of this mark the beginning of you looking for a mate?"

If so Mai thought she could not have picked a better place to look. Right here in the room they had several fine huntsmen and perhaps she was biased but who else would have the qualities one would look for in a companion? Though in her own case she supposed she never needed someone to hunt for her or to protect her. Perhaps that was why she had never looked for a mate for herself; in addition to this, she wandered where she pleased and doubted anyone would put up with that from a wife.

Shrugging of the mental wanderings brought on by the blonde's interesting song, Mai waited patiently for the answer to her question but was also oddly curious to see if anyone would respond to Amberelle's singing with the rest of the ritual. It would seem from their responses to her own questions that Cyrus and Talon both understood the tradition.

"She is probably singing of it for amusement not to initiate courtship. Though Americans do have some odd customs." Again said as a quiet aside to Mai.

Courting. He had not associated courting with that song. His earliest courting concepts made his eyes light with humor. No one gave yaks to a woman's father anymore. The humor died as he recalled the fact that he never got to that point in life and lived without finding a mate since.

Cyrus shook off his melancoly by pulling out two more hoops and with the use of the mirror. He put the past behind him with that act of defiance. No use wasting time on mourning that which was lost long long ago. No woman wanted a vampire for a mate and no vampire should be pining for a short-lived human.

Suddenly the realization that he lived among other vampires currently almost took him too his knees. Too many years living in the forest or his estate apparently clouded his mind to the possibilities. He did not know what to do now. A part of him wanted to start looking for a female of his own now but another part of him demanded to run outside and hide in the dark lush forest to think this over. His baser instincts won.

"Excuse me" Was all he managed before leaving through the front door and racing towards the trees. He shifted long before reaching their comfort.
Amberelle DeEspionne 18 years ago
For a time Amberelle stood there, mortified. At that moment she had wanted nothing more in her life than she wanted the floor to simply open up and swallow her whole. The blonde opened her mouth slowly to try and respond but nothing came out except for the faintest breath and perhaps a squeak. To have humiliated herself in front of the Elder was just.. it was horrifying. Add in the others present and it made her ill. Especially Talon. Why did he have to be here to witness her silly, childish little spontaneous burst of song? Couldn't she have come sweeping in as a regal and elegant lady?

A small part of her brain that was still functioning was immensely grateful for Cyrus' quiet explanation to the petite Elder. However, each of Mai's subsequent questions and observations further hammered at her until she felt she must have surely squished herself down into the cracks of the foyer's floor. There was simply no way she could be more embarassed, it just was not physically possible she reasoned to herself. That was until Mai asked her,

"Does the singing of this mark the beginning of you looking for a mate?"

Her pupils widened, unconsciously shifting to a more feline shape. Their normal honey amber color darkened to a burnished gold and she died a little at the telltale glance she couldn't resist in Talon's direction before she darted her gaze back to meet the solemn and patiently waiting Huntswoman's. So wrapped up in her suddenly panic laced thoughts she barely even noticed as Cyrus seemed to bolt from the foyer.

I... I.. hadn't really meant it like that no. It wasn't like a cry for a mate or anything. It's just a.. umm.. I was just singing it, for fun.. I didn't mean anything by it.

"Please oh please oh please believe that and let it go!" she prayed.

Mai tilted her head sideways as Cyrus explained and raised one hand to cover the grin that formed at his words. It was true Americans did odd things. Perhaps Amberelle was practicing. It didn't seem to be a very difficult song and if there were more dance steps to it then it was missed. She did realize that the music of the times could be about anything at all, appropriate or not but it was the meaning of this one that had escaped her.

That had been cleared up thanks to her fellow huntsman but then Cyrus felt the urge to leave. She wondered whether it was polite to follow; his behavior was odd but familiar to her own urges for freedom from time to time. Mai decided that he had not asked for company specifically and seemed to be trying to get away; it would be rude to interrupt.

Turning her solemn gaze back on Amberelle, she nodded her understanding.

"Hai, Arigato, Amberelle-chan."

Looking back at the others Mai wondered if any were disappointed at the announcement that the blonde was not interested in courtship.

((OOC: So sorry Amby *giggles* ))
Amberelle DeEspionne 18 years ago
Relief washed through the blonde when she realized Mai would not be upset with her for behaving so foolishly in their home. Amberelle knew with certainty what would have been the result of such a "shameful" display of emotion and inappropriate behavior if she was still living under her Sire's control. Memories of those kinds of beatings don't leave your mind after just a few months away she thought bitterly.

Giving her two clansmen a shaky smile, she stood quietly, head dipped ever so slightly, trying not to be too obtrusive and intently studied the exquisite kimono that Mai had worn to the ball to avoid looking at them.

She was still, quiet, trying to be as inobtrusive as possible. Almost like a doe in the woods when it hears the crack of a twig. Reminding herself she had been invited to live here by Morrigan, welcomed to their home, so there was nothing to fear she straightened her spine, forcing herself to regain a bit of her composure. Glancing up she spoke after a moment,

That is a beautiful kimono, did you wear it to the ball?

(( OOC she seriously has authority figure issues.. *sigh* ))

He crossed his arms over his chest and gave a snort when Cyrus frowned at him and explained the songs meaning. 'apple polisher' he thought.

Talon watched the emotions flash across Amberelles Face at the idea that she was looking for a mate. He tried to hide his grin it was, after all not his intention to embarass her further..

"Maybe shes not looking for a Mate, maybe just a mount then?" he smiled

The leopard paced back and forth amid the tree branches. How could he have overlooked something as life altering as a vampire mate. Easily, a little voice said, you swore never to create due to this unslakeable thirst. With a bark scraping leap he flung himself to the ground. Pacing and prowling through the trunks and bare bushes.

The good thing about leopard form was that he was less apt to hurt himself as he paced distractedly. Unfortunatly cloud leopards did not roar so his emotions had no relief. Finally he decided to return to the manor. Finding a mate would not happen if he was antisocial.

Hopefully everyone would be gone from the foyer so Rupert could show him his quarters. Tomorrow he would think this through without berating himself for his blindness.

Leaving the forest slowly the leopard picked the darkest path back to the front door of the manor.

"Hai, Amberelle-chan. "

Mai looked at her curiously, had they not all just come from the ball? She decided it was a statement made in nervous defense and dismissed the oddity of the question.

There had been mention of drinks and Mai smiled slightly as an idea formed.

"You all wish to be drink, ne?"

With that said and not quite waiting for a reply, she turned and headed off down the hall.

((OOC: Mai out. I will start a new thread on the balcony and you guys can join when you're ready. She has an odd idea))

Slipping inside once all had left the hall, Cyrus silently followed the buttler to his room. It was in need of some personal touches but would work for now.

Curling up, the cat fell asleep in the large closet's upper shelf.
