a few missed calls(att: Shay)

Panos yawned and opened his eyes. He stretched one arm above his head fully, it had been cramped all night. He laid it back down to rest on Birseis's large barrel chest. There he lay cuddled in bed with a massive dog. How funny this must look!

Last night after his rampage on Meegan's apartment, Birseis had lead him to a small underground home that was neatly tucked away in a hilly area right outside of the city. It was a home out of the movies with the only windows being three inches wide by seven inches long and bordered along the edge of the earth. Someone must have built this in the horrible 70's. He thought to himself. The decor inside was much better, it shown of class and taste. It was all very greek and all very elaborate. Panos took an easy guess that this was a home belonging to his aunt.

More help from her. Odd. He had tried to contact her last night before he collapsed onto the bed in complete exhaustion but he felt blocked. There was no answer from her.

His cell phone had been placed on the nigthstands edge next to the grand king size bed. A little red light flashed. He reached over and picked up the phone and was surprised to see missed phone calls. Hit pressed the 1 key and listened to his voicemail. Shay's friendly voice chimed over the speaker. He smiled and was glad she had called him back. He needed something or someone to keep his mind off last night.

He hung up with his voicemail and padded through his options on the phone, retrieving the missed number. He hit redial and hoped she would answer. It was early for him but not so much for her.

Almost out the door, the phone rang, and Shay ran back to pick it up.

"Hello?"

Her voice was slightly breathless, and her body was still dancing to the earlier song.

"Hellllllooooo???"

She repeated only slightly impatient. It had rung several times before she reached the phone, but she hadn't heard the click of a hang up, nor a dial tone, so she assumed someone was still on the other end.

As her impatience grew, so did her desire to get to the club.

"I'm sorry, but I haven't got all night."

She said into the phone, as she hung up. Maybe someone was having phone issues...or maybe it was kids screwing around...in any event, Shay had neither the time, nor inclination to deal with either now.

Deciding the night air was probably going to be too cold for what she was wearing, she grabbed her grandmother's lace shawl from the couch in the office, and draped it over her shoulder as she left the flat.

Panos phone crackled with static and then beeped. The line dropped. He pulled the phone away from his head and checked his reception. Of course there was none. He knew he shoulda gone with verizon. Sprint just had better deals at the time.

He closed the phone and set it back down. An underground house had it's downfalls. Reception was one of them. He would have to get in touch with her later. For now he would get up and get cleaned up. Perhaps he would goto Club E and call her from there later.

He needed thinking time to decide what to do next. He could drop by the news station and pay a visit, but he wasn't sure that was too wise at the moment.

What better than to go and have a few drinks. Panos stood and headed to the shower. Birseis followed him loyaly and laid outside of the door waiting for him.
