I see your open thread in HoP, I'd join ya but my 2 most likely candidates to be there are already there and tired up lol.

Erm... don't come down on him -too- hard yet.

*looks innocent*

He's uh, fragile and stuff.

*whistles and shuffles*

*holds up sign*

No...if it was common knowledge that the place was crawling with vampires, it probably wouldn't be too unique for Shay to get any kind of scoop. However, Shay has a vivid imagination...she is a novelist, after all...and she might see things that aren't there either...hence the research.

I think I had the impression someone was saying Shay was exhibiting too much knowledge, and I hadn't thought she had...that's where my confusion was.

Basically we'd like people to be cautious when they're rp'ing their human characters knowledge of vampires. Nachton, the city, has survived since the birth of the American nation and it's founders much longer than that. If you want to say a human has an idea, than yes it would be a bit far fetched. We're talking Elders who date back to before Christ and control a major metropolitan city..

It's safe to say it's a pretty good secret.

So say if your human is writing a book and has come to Nachton to use it's extensive and world renowned library and then happens upon the world of vampires through either its familiars or even meeting one, well that makes more sense than 'having a hunch, Shaggy'...so to speak. =D

This is now an on going topic in staff on whether or not we need to clarify just exactly what a random new person in Nachton would know. Hope that clears it up some.

I know what you're saying...however, if my character was a cop, and had knowledge that the general public might not have...along with an over active imagination, would it then be illogical if she were to come to this city to find out if any of the rumors she'd heard were true? Further...nightclubs you enter through sewer systems? Not the kind of thing you run into, in just any given town.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse here...and I certainly don't want to do something that the ptb don't approve of. It just makes sense to me that this character would react as she has, thus far. I mean, she hasn't come out and said, or even thought to herself...'this town is full of vampires and I'm going to find some...' All she has done was have a couple thoughts that things were strange in Nachton, and might possibly support what she had heard...but she would need to look into things further.

Please reread what I wrote.

It's one thing to come to Nachton as an ex cop who writes fictional stories about vampires, it's another to come and have preconceived knowledge about vampires in a city you've never been in.

Please tread softly when rp'ing your characters knowledge. Meta knowledge is not acceptable. If you want to rp the 'discovery' of vampires in Nachton - feel free, but any mention of having an 'idea' or 'assumed notion' of vampires being nearby when the society has spent thousands of years hiding in plain site, well then yes - staff will have a problem.

Bottom line - do not assume your character knows 'something is up' unless you rp a storyline to back it up. I hope THIS was clear enough. Enjoy your rp here, but do not stretch the rules. The rules being - a human, any human, unless having previous actual association with vampires or familiars would NOT know. RP with this idea in mind when Shalimar roams the city and meets new people.

If you have any other questions, please contact a member of staff since I don't think it's necessary for this to be public since no one else seems to be confused on the issue. Thank you.

Thank you. That was perfectly clear. I apologize for being a bit dense.
