It only took a second and Serena had the power hooked back up and was firing up the PC. She listened to it humm and click on and watched the screen as it flashed data by. Satisfied once she made sure all of the drives and memory had been read, she snapped off the power and pulled it back into her lap to reattach the cover.
"When your done do you want to head down to the strip with me or do you still have more of your shift to finish?"
Glancing down at her watch she sighed. Screwing her face up in an annoyed look she shrugged at Ginnie. Well I do have a few more hours but it is my "lunch" break. It's really dead around here tonight so we could go grab a bite if you were hungry? I'm sure no one will miss me if I take a nice long break since I have my pager on.
Glancing back down at the computer she mentally kicked herself for such an ambiguous and open ended offer. 'You have no idea if she's a vamp, or if she thinks you're one. Comments like that could go over way, waaay off base.'

Ginnie zipped her little green beetle into her assigned space at Duibne and pulled her briefcases and two other cases from her back seat. Crisscrossing her briefcase straps on her chest and carrying the munitions cases she made her way to her lab. She had tons of information to input and she needed to retro fit red ink cartridges for Ellis's bomb-gun-tazer-pen-thingy. 'I really need to come up for a name for that.'
She nourished her body with from her small supply in the lab's fridge and started on her first of what would be many cups of coffee. As she pulled out reports from her briefcase and settled at her computer, she hoped desperately for a distraction of some kind.

Ginnie did her best not to laugh at the unintentional pun Serena had just said. She wondered if the human knew just how funny it was. She coughed over the laugh that escaped, and smiled down at Serena.
"I'm very hungry. I know this great little Thai place just down from the mall. You game?"
And I can just excuse myself to the "ladies' room" and get a bit of fresh waitress along with my Thai. She grinned at herself as she flicked a stray hair off her face.

As she finished up tightening the case's screws Serena nodded at Ginnie. While she rolled all of the potential risks through her, she admitted to herself, rather paranoid mind she didn't see any real risk with having something to eat. 'The odds are she's just another human, probably a familiar. And even if she was a fang there's no reason she'd munch on me, I work here. And I fixed her computer, hassle free!'
Thai sounds really good. I could go for some spring rolls. Sliding the computer back into place, she grinned at Ginnie. As she stood and brushed off her jeans she asked, Is it close enough to walk, or should I follow you or what?

"We can walk, it's not that far."
Ginnie crossed to the door of the lab and removed her lab coat and replaced it with a hip length black leather jacket. She jammed a black wool driver's cap over the unruly curls that had worked loose from her braid. She clipped several items to her belt and slipped a 9mm Browning Hi-Power Mark III, with several modifications, into her shoulder holster. She checked the small dagger at her left wrist, and the small .22 in her ankle holster. She shrugged her shoulders to adjust the weight of her holster and turned back to Serena.
"Do you need to stop by your office for anything?"

One eyebrow raised slightly as Serena took in the impressive piece of hardware Ginnie slipped into her shoulder holster. Watching her go through her weapons check, the thought that maybe, just maybe, Ginnie was indeed more than she appeared floated back through her mind. Shaking that train of thought off track before it began, she picked up her tool kit.
Nope, I'll just drop this off at the security desk and make old Frank watch it for me. Serena stepped out of the lab, and followed Ginnie out.
