Triumphant Return (The search for Chryseis cont'd)

Mai at least waited for the car to come to a stop before gratefully opening the door and getting out. She took several deep breaths of air before moving to one side and letting other people exit.

She would do her duty to escort Chryseis to Morrigan and then thought it best if they all left the two to speak privately of what had happened. If there was something the Order of the Hunt needed to know about all this then Morrigan would explain it to her later.

Mai could hope that someone was going to pay for the injustice of attacking an Anantya, not for the sake of vengeance, that was a matter for Chryseis to decide, but as an example to others that you did not harm one of their clan without expecting dire consequences to come from your actions.

She did not expect this "relative" to live long unless Chryseis intervened on his behalf and Mai personally would be most interested to see if that would be done.

With her senses no longer reeling, Mai's composure was once more in place. Impassive and patient as ever, she folded her hands in front of her and spoke to the doorman.

"Inform Morrigan-san that we have arrived."

Chryseis stepped out of the sleak limo and stood to the left of Mai. The grand home of the Anantya loomed before them, a high rise of glory. Inwardly she let a sigh of relief escape. She was home again and she heard the familiar booming of her beloveds barking. It became louder as they ran full speed towards her.

She patted them each on their heads as millions of mental messages flew threw her head. She offered them a weak smile and scratched their ears.

I am here darlings. I am here.

Here is where she would begin her search for Panos's history and background. Here is where she hoped to find more answers.
Thaddeus Grey 18 years ago
Thaddeus climbed out of the limo after Mai, wondering what could possibly be going through Chryseis's mind. He also considered their next step, though what that would be was between Chryseis and the Triad, particularly Morrigan.

He smiled softly at the approach of the dogs. Hearing them had a way of making everything click into place, of making the Manor feel like home. He took in their master's slight smile, and hoped perhaps her pets cheered her at least a little. He closed his eyes and tilted up his head as they waited for Morrigan.

[Chryseis was recovered; I have returned. I will join you as soon as I possibly can.]

He would, of course, see if Morrigan or Chryseis needed anything further from him, and as eager as he was to see Alfarinn again, he needed to stay focused on the task at hand.

[Until then, I hope you are comfortable in my quarters.]
Cyrus 18 years ago
Noting the dogs rush up, Cyrus exited from the oposite side of the limo. Thankfully he did not sneeze this time from the smell of canine. He carefully walked around to Mai and kneeled at her side as he had greeted her at the begining of the day.

"Do you have further need of me?"

He wished to be away from the dogs as quickly as possible. A good run either through these woods or the rooftops in the city would do. But as a good soldier, he could not leave without permission. It was no hardship to bow or kneel to his elder kinswoman, she was as fierce and brave as any kahn.

Mai looked down at Cyrus next to her and nodded her head at him in acknowledgment for his aid and his respect.

"Iie, Cyrus-san. You were very helpful tonight, domo arigato. I am glad you have come to Nachton to be with us. "

She looked up then and around the estate. Were it her that was no longer needed she'd be out in the woods or in the garden and many of her kind that were able to change form seemed to feel the same way. Looking back at him, she smiled.

"Go, enjoy. Thaddeus-san and I will take Chryseis to Morrigan. "

She might join him later, there was always rabbits to chase and together they might be able to take on Talon. Mai smiled at the thought of hanging on to a wolf desperately trying not to fall off in stoat form. It would be a lot of fun. Or perhaps they could chase the cat... Cyrus did need a welcome to the Hunt test after all.

Turning to Chryseis, She said.

"The Rose waits."

Mai strode up the steps and into the Manor.
Talon 18 years ago
Talon opened the passenger side door and stepped out of the front seat of the limo, he stretched and watched everyone file out of the car and get orginized.

he fell into place behind them, ready to escourt them inside. 'maybe they'll sanction something about finding the one that did this, that would be fun...' he thought to himself.

Cyrus nodded respectfully to acknowledge the thanks the elder bestowed upon him. Though he thought his role was minor at best it was good to be appreciated. He knew that with time he could contribute more, but the urges were currently too strong. Those dogs would also take quite a while to become used to him, he did not wish to upset the homecoming so it was best he took his leave.

As Mai lead the party up into the manor, Cyrus turned and began walking slowly to the forest. Once out of sight of the dogs he ran fast as his human legs could carry him, shifted before reaching the first tree. With a leap he was in the trees, racing from one to the other.

Mai made her way to Morrigan's office assuming that the woman had continued to stay there in order to be available quickly for news of their return. She walked silently down the hall and came to a stop in front of the door.

Knocking quietly and then standing to one side, she said.

"Bara-chan, we are back."

The long night had come to a successful conclusion as far as she was concerned. If there was more that the Hunt needed to do then it would happen at a later time. Mai was satisfied with their work in quickly finding Chryseis though it was disappointing that it took several days to notice she was missing. Vampires were solitary creatures however, and not always willing to tell other people their plans. It was not unheard of for many of her kind to simply up and leave for months at a time. Mai, herself, was known to travel for years before coming back to Anantya' s current center of power. She supposed that she was concerned for the sake of the younger ones in ways that she had not been before because now she understood how their coming and going caused concern to the ones that cared for them.
Thaddeus Grey 18 years ago
Thaddeus followed behind Mai as she led the way to Morrigan's office, shrugging off his jacket and brushing the dust off his pants in an effort to look slightly more presentable. It was somewhat of a lost cause; between his missing gloves, the sewers, kneeling on the floor, and god only knew what else, he was going to be less than neat.

It was, however, a comfort to hear from Alfarinn, though it would seem his companion was waiting...expectantly. Thaddeus hoped Alfarinn would not have to wait long; he had been so patient in all of this. It seemed a shame that after all that waiting he would be returning to his companion tired and more than a little disheveled, but there was not much he could do about that.

He stood behind Mai, jacket draped over one arm and hands clasped behind his back as he waited in silence.
Morrigan Kinsey 18 years ago
Morrigan's senses picked up the footsteps coming toward her office, but her mind being elsewhere the sound did not register until she heard the voice of Mai through the door. The slight jump in her handwriting on her stack of notes was the only outward sign of being startled. Setting down her pen, Morrigan hurried to the door to greet her visitors. The sight of Chryseis started a dull ache in her chest as well as a roaring of blood in her ears. She reached out and took Chryseis' hand in comfort.

Looking to her rescuers, Morrigan gave a deep nod and touched her other hand to the place on her chest that covered her heart.

Mai...Thaddeus...I am eternally grateful.

She looked into Thaddeus' eyes and smiled.

I believe your guest will be most relieved to see you.
Thaddeus Grey 18 years ago
Thaddeus inclined his chin and took in Morrigan's sincere gesture with a slight smile. He turned to Chryseis, the smile fading from his expression though the warmth remained.

It is good to have you home.

Taking Morrigan's words as a dismissal for the moment, he turned back to the Elder, meeting her eyes.

As am I. Grateful Chryseis was alive and as well as could be expected, though there were still many questions to be answered, and much to be accounted for. If he knew Morrigan at all, though, there would be a reckoning for this, though he could not be certain if vengeance would be a comfort to Chryseis in the wake of what must have been a horrifying experience.

Do not hesitate to call on me should you have further need. He smiled softly. And I very much appreciate your making...my guest...feel welcome here.

He looked to Mai, his smile widening. I will see you again soon.

[i]With a final nod to his companions, he turned and headed to his quarters.

[I am on my way.]

Mai nodded to Morrigan and stepped aside. Looking at Chryseis, she decided there was not much that she could do to further aid the situation. There was no need to voice an offer of support and it would simply waste their time, her clan had always come first, it was well known. It would likely be most comforting to the younger woman to talk the situation out in her creator's study without the onlooking eyes of the Hunt.

She smiled at Thaddeus's statement and nodded to him in agreement.

Looking up at Talon before she moved to leave, Mai said.

"Domo Arigato, Kuma-san." Smiling up at him a moment before moving quietly down the hall, Mai left the Rose and her child to their conversation and searched for a comfortable place to sleep for the night.

Chryseis Angelique 18 years ago
The others left the room as Morrigan held onto Chryseis's hand. Chryseis's mind was racing with the questions she wanted to blurt out. The look on Morrigan's face would have reassured most anyone, but Chryseis still had her doubts. She knew Morrigan better than many thought they did. Morrigans past was one of strength and victories. The woman was an iron fist in a velvet glove.

But would she tell the truth now? Had she ever lied to Chryseis? It was a rediculous thought, of course she hadn't.

The pain bubbled in her chest, the familiar pain of her stress and nervous problems. She took a deep breath and pushed it down. Now was not the time, she was far to tired for this but she pushed herself anyways.

Morrigan, first I'd like to thank you and The Order of the Night for finding me, lost as i was inside my own mind. My filthly wardrobe can only begin to describe my whereabouts. I do not know if i would had survived the ordeal. There is not much i remember, but the smell....the smell of Mai and her flowers. That, that alone was enough shock to my senses and memories to bring me back. I will be forever greatful.
