July 4th

Oce walked along the path she had heard the parade would be taking place. She had never been one for festivities. She was not 'American' by birth and usually felt out of place with the culture she emulated so well.

However her secretary had threatened her that evening. If she didn't get away from work she was going call Megan and force her out. Oce laughed and taking a basked the woman had packed for dinner left for the parade 'grounds'. Finding an empty and relatively quiet gazebo Oce sat down and began to look through the basket.

Amazingly there was at least enough for 3 or 4 people in there. Pulling out a note she read it to herself.

Miss Oce,

You never know when you will meet company. Just in case *wink

Linda

As much as she loved the secretary, Linda was forever trying to mess in her 'love' life as well. Sighing she pulled out a water bottle and examined the night life around her. She could hear gentle hum of crickets and other insect life around her.

Xerxes smiled at the woman as she finished her meal. They sat in silence, though it was far from awkward. In fact, Xerxes could tell from the fact that neither seemed uncomfrtable that the two had reached a more mature understanding of each other.

And, to his surprise, this fact pleased him. In fact, he realized this is what he had been seeking. Generally, women were a distraction; she was different, she was something more to him.

He found himself admiring her delicate features as she looked towards the sky.

Xerxes had finished his food long before so when she suggested they leave, so he gladly agreed.

"I would love a cup of coffee, as long as I am not intruding, I don't want to keep you from work," though he offered the excuse, the boyish grin on his face made it apparent that he wanted nothing other then to continue spending time with the woman. He helped her pack up the belongings and rose, holding out his hand to her.

"We shall", he said, nodding.

Oce smiled glad he could not see her cheeks redden slightly in the darkness when he offered her his hand. Picking up the basket she placed her hand in his.

"No imposition at all. I just hope it is clean." She laughed softly. "My work can wait... a little while at least." taking a deep breath they set off towards her home.

(Oce & Xerxes out *Pretty sure thats ok with Xerxes if not let me know!)
