Past, Meet Present! (open)

Ysabel was in the Qwerty for no other reason than she'd been walking by and, it being unseasonably chilly, the warm air from within as someone opened the door wafted by and attracted her. She had never been to an internet cafe before. She had nothing pressing to attend to. She could surely stop in, have a warm drink, and see what it was all about.

As she entered she was overwhelmed by the sight of that many computers and appliances all in one space. It was a little bit daunting. It didn't help that a vast number of the clientele appeared to be college aged young... well, geeks. And many of them collectively looked up from their keyboards and then simply... stared.

Ysabel let a soft smile drift across her face, a result of years of habit, and drifted slowly forward toward the counter to order a drink. She lifted her skirt a little bit to keep it from sweeping through any inadvertent spills and peered up at the menu, trying to choose a drink without actually understanding what many of them actually were.

Thérèse racked her brain to come up with the image of a Friesian. Finally, it came to her she'd seen them in some painting, usually covered in armor or the like big black brutes.

"Ah, I had no idea they were so versatile. Although they do look to be very graceful even with such a solid frame."

Unlike pictures of some draft horses which were obviously just meant for strength, these Friesians seemed to be built both for strength and grace. On the whole, she appreciated that even if she wasn't much of an equestrian.

"Do you compete at all here in Nachton?"

It was obvious that Ysabel had a passion for the subject and for her horses and it was art, after a fashion. So long as the discussion was interesting and not bogged down she never minded listening about some one's passion.

She smiled warmly at that pronouncement. There was no grantee and as much as she wanted to push for a commitment and an answer Thérèse refrained.

"Bon. If you do take a class I would very much like to know how you liked it."

Oh certainly there were feedback surveys and such at the end of all their classes and lectures but they were optional. And she only ever received a summary of the feed back. There was no substituted for actually speaking to some one. And while she couldn't always take the time, tonight she would at least invite the opinion.

"Quite versatile," Ysabel said with a smile. "The breed has altered slightly since its founding. They used to carry armored knights into battle and so they were quite heavily built but there has been some lighter blood introduced into the breed over the years."

She didn't want to bore Therese on the topic.
"We don't compete here in Nachton, no. I simply use this city as my base of operations. My own horses are simply for pleasure here."

Ysabel sipped at her chai once more, noting it was nearly finished at this point. She nodded at Therese, saying,
"I would very much like to take one. It just remains for me to see if Marie will attend with me or if I will be on my own."

She did not ask about the cost of the classes; there always was, for supplies, instruments, the instructor's time. Obviously the Arch had to stay in funds and this was surely another means to do so. The money mattered little to Ysabel. She would take a class if not for personal enrichment, then to support a worthy establishment with a very passionate curator.

Swirling the remains of her drink around in the bottom of her cup, Ysabel looked out the window at the busy strip.
"Well," she said, "I didn't expect to meet an art curator when I walked in here tonight. Thank you so much for your company."

She stood and gave Therese a respectful nod of her head and the barest of curtsies.
"I am sure I will see you again, at the museum if nowhere else. It was truly a pleasure to meet you Therese."

Her words were sincere; it had been lovely to have an unexpected cultural discussion in the middle of a Nachton internet cafe.

"It would be the armor wearing variety I am more familiar with."

She admitted with some chagrin. But one could not be an expert on every topic and so she was not terribly embarrassed. She took that answer to mean that Ysabel did compete but else where. If what she'd over heard from some of her staff and patrons was to believed there were some horsey areas in neighboring cities and states.

"Well I wish you luck where ever you compete."

She did not want to consider how much any amount of land in Nachton would cost. But it would be rude to say anything about that. And it could be threatening to ask a woman alone where she lived.

"Wonderful. I think you will find it more enjoyable if you take it with a friend but either way I very much hope you enjoy yourself."

Thérèse smiled and laughed mildly.

"I did not expect to meet a horse breeder, so we are even." Although she did have the good grace to look a little chagrined. "I hope I did not take up all of your time or distract you from why you came in."

After all one did not just come into an internet cafe without a reason. Even she had a reason, bizarre though it was and using the computers was an after thought but she had a reason.

She was a woman and as such was not obligated to stand when Ysabel did but Thérèse smiled and politely inclined her head. The almost curtsy struck her odd but maybe it just was a hazard of wearing out dated clothing.

"I very much enjoyed making your acquaintance Ysabel. I apologize I do not have a card but I do hope to see you again."

It had been a pleasure. Ysabel had taken her mind off her keeper, her shoulder and any number of small (and large things) that were bothering her. And that she appreciated to no end.

Ysabel smiled at Therese's wish for luck. "Thank you," she replied. Nodding her head at the curator's next words she said, "Yes, I agree. I think Marie will be interested."

She shook her head next, indicating that Therese hadn't been a bother.
"You were a very welcome distraction," she said pleasantly. "I enjoyed meeting you too Therese. I'm certain we will see each other soon."

With the Ysabel headed out of the internet cafe, amused by the fact that she'd come in to see what it was like and hadn't actually used the internet at all.

"Excellent. I am happy to hear it. And look forward to seeing you again."

She would have Stephanie keep an eye out for Ysabel's name, well she would if she remembered.

Watching Ysabel leave Thérèse smiled slightly. Oh her shoulder was still sore, but there was no damage, or if there had been it was healed now but that calm every day, well perhaps not quite so every day, conversation had done wonder for her spirit. She felt better just for have a bit of normality.

Her coffee only half done Thérèse rose and found a computer sending off an email or two to her family before returning home. She had enjoyed at least part of the evening.
