wiimatch Part 2

Christian ran a hand through his wet hair as he went down the stairs. His mood was much more relaxed than the anxiety and anticipation he had felt earlier in the day. He smiled to himself as he went to plug in the fondue pots and set out the final touches on the snacks for the evening. Cris wondered what Aishe would make of his aura now if she saw it.

He pulled out the holder with coasters he had made some time ago; realizing that this was the first time that they were being used. The coasters were all wooden boats, the hulls made much more shallow and flat on the bottom. The ring, lined with cork, was at the aft end and each had collapsible sails of different colours. The tiny details like portals and anchors were done in different metals. The holder was shaped like a wooden pier with the coasters stacked sideways between the pilings.

Turning to his companion that was busy hastily connecting the wii console to the television, Christian asked. "Need any help?"

((OOC: There are four ships, the sail colours are red, yellow, blue and green. The little masts flip up and lock into place. Why he made them....I don't know. ))

Rowan Murphy 13 years ago
Rowan had a hard time not laughing out loud at Cris's drunken sending. He wasn't sure what the point Cris was trying to make was, so he just sent back, [Yes. I will definitely bear it in mind.] He'd probably understand later when he wasn't laboring under the influence of eleven tequila shots. He actually didn't plan to drink much more. He did not want to end this night falling down drunk. As it was the room was currently wobbling gently back and forth and his head was appropriately muzzy. He could handle another one or two and then he was calling it quits, regardless of any teasing he might incur.

Rowan watched Eiryk's tumble with a low whistle. Alexander's save was pretty good.
"You look like you've had some practice," he said, careful to enunciate his words lest he slur at all; he had a feeling Alex didn't always understand what he said. Of course he could speak in just about any accent but he didn't generally do that among friends. He was just himself.

He closed his eyes for a moment, listening to Christian's voice in his head and formulating his response; he wasn't used to sending constantly. If he wasn't careful he was going to respond out loud and then the game would be up. [I think we're all right standing for now,] he replied. [If we sit I might forget we're still playing Eiryk.] If Cris sat close enough to touch, Rowan was going to touch. As it was it was tough to watch Alex and Eiryk's brief caresses without wanting some of his own.

"Okay. Next match," he said with a smile, queuing it up. Hopefully poor Alex wouldn't have to do another shot. With three vampires in the room surely one of them could intercept this time. Alex was really the only one of them likely to suffer from a hard hangover. Rowan would... it was a tequila thing. But it would go away faster than Alex's, he was sure.

Hitting the button on his wii-mote, he sent a fast serve down the court toward Eiryk's character, watching smoke trail out of it with satisfaction.
Eiryk 13 years ago
"Tis a far, far better thing you've done than... ... something."

He said of Alex's shot. Of course, Eiryk had planned on doing that and keeping Alex semi sober but his boyfriend could be a quick bastard when he set his mind to it. Eiryk was quite comfortably sprawled on the couch and would have stayed there with Alex on his lap indefinitely, but apparently it was not to be.

"No... sitting is for wusses."

Eiryk declared before standing back up to take on Rowan and Christian yet again. Never mind that is was this same kind of reckless single minded determination that got him turned in the first place, or caused him to try and be a farmer, it had also made for a good Viking and gotten him Alex. So no point changing now.

Although, he wouldn't mind if they went back to Mario Kart, he had been getting good at that.

Pulling himself and Alex back to their feet he concentrated hard for a few seconds willing the room to hold still. It mostly cooperated, that or he'd just spent so much time on boats that he adapted fairly well.

He returned Rue's killer serve quickly, easily and surprisingly accurately. In fact, between he and Alex that first game they blew the other two out of the water. However, right after that Eiryk, apparently used up all his coordination points for the next year or so. Which meant that the ever vigilant Alex's game suffered as well and they lost the match in spectacular fashion.

Eiryk deliberately flopped back on to the couch and claimed the shot this time. He did still plan on having his way with Alex and that meant they both had to be at least a little sober. Knocking it back he thought... maybe... they could just sleep instead. He was really starting to feel this.

"I really should have remembered the lime. Why didn't you open the whiskey?"

He wasn't sure who that question was addressed to though...
Alex Aristos 13 years ago
"Call me a wuss then," Alex said, fully intending to stay seated. Eiryk was already pulling him to his feet though so he went along willingly if unsteadily.

He sighed but smiled. It was much harder now to focus on both the game and Eiryk but he did his best. It wasn't good enough this time and they found themselves the losers once more. Alex grinned as Eiryk did the shot this time, shrugging at the question about the drink of choice.
"I just grabbed the first bottle I touched."

Turning to Christian Alex said, "I thought you had never played before. Pretty impressive for a beginner. Do you play for real?"

Alex enjoyed tennis with Eiryk but different opponents kept him on his toes and he was always looking for someone new to play.
Christian Bern 13 years ago
Christian was amused that Eiryk decided that they were not going to sit while playing. He could understand the sentiment. It seemed to be wrong to play tennis while sitting down.

They were doing okay and so long as they didn't have to reach far to return the ball then the room stayed mostly stable. Cris concentrated on keeping his feet planted in a wide steadying stance and concentrating on the game. It helped from what he could tell.

Smiling at Alex, he said. "Yes, I've played real tennis fairly often." It was a game that could be played indoors and out and being enormous was not a huge advantage. "There are indoor courts here so its a good way to unwind...when I am not skewering a co-worker with a large metal toothpick."

He went over to the table and got out the other bottle. "Would you prefer the whiskey next round?" Christian smiled pleasantly at Eiryk, holding the alcohol by the neck and balancing it over his crossed arm like a waiter presenting a fine wine.
Rowan Murphy 13 years ago
Rowan grinned at Alexander. "You didn't realize I was bringing a ringer to this party did you!"

Belatedly he realized he was supposed to be neutral toward Cris. But banter, gaming, and alcohol were definitely making him lose track of a few details. He turned to Cris and shrugged in a neutral fashion that probably could have been interpreted any number of ways.

He watched Cris make his way over to the table, glad he had gone and not Rowan, because Rowan didn't feel as steady on his feet as he claimed to. Oh, he wasn't too bad off yet... and would be just fine if they continued their winning streak, but he didn't need to go stumbling around Cris's home.

Christian's words to Alex made him do a slight double take.
"Are there others here who fence?"

He had assumed so in the back of his head but he had yet to meet anyone else who fenced aside from Christian, who he had not yet participated in that activity with yet. Not in the traditional sense, anyway.

"I'd like to meet them," he said hopefully.

Fencing was one of his favorite sports. He did it often and he did it well enough to be confident. He would like to know some folks around here who did so, too. Waiting for Christian to retake his place beside him Rowan queued the next tennis game.
"Let's see if we can go three for three," he said.
Eiryk 13 years ago
Eiryk got a little tiny bit bristly when Alex seemed to be looking for another tennis partner. At least he thought he did, he meant to. But all the shots had him sort of, OK -really-, relaxed. Besides it would probably wind up being a round of doubles so there was no reason to be jealous.

Apparently Christian was a player... er... a tennis player. Maybe he'd remember some of the same rules Eiryk did. That might be nice.

Still comfortably sprawled on the sofa Eiryk looked blearily up at the smaller blond, who was very formally presenting a bottle, and and just shook his head.

"You just poor something and I will do it." He paused and considered that statement. "I'm not sure that came out how I meant it to..."

Eiryk looked rather helplessly to Alex for some help but gave up and drank whatever it was that was handed to him.

He did grin rather lopsidedly at Rue as he was rather enthusiastic about his partner. It was more of an encouraging 'you should ask him out' sort of grin than a 'ha! I knew it!" kind of grin. It was worth this if he got Alex home and into bed and got Rue hooked up with some one.

Eiryk went to stand up. He got to his feet, decided it wasn't a good idea and sat back down.

"I think I might be a wuss."

They were back to the swishy poke talk and he just leaned back and listened. He didn't have a lot to offer on this count.
Alex Aristos 13 years ago
"Indoor courts?" Alex smiled. "I didn't realize. Maybe, if you want... we could play sometime. That is, I mean, I don't live here. But we could use the courts at the gym too." Alex wasn't going to presume. He didn't normally issue invitations but he did like Christian. Maybe it was forward of him to volunteer to play here but he was at Eiryk's so often sometimes he forgot he wasn't a resident.

Turning around, he noted that Eiryk was draped over the couch again. There was another drink suggested but Alex held his hand out and shook it dismissively. Moving to sit next to Eiryk he pulled his boyfriend against him and held him tightly for a few moments.

"I think he's had enough. Maybe some water though?"

Alexander didn't want Eiryk passing-out drunk. He had been with him long enough to recognize the signs. He wasn't there yet but another shot or so and Eiryk would be impossible to wake.

"You're not a wuss," he reassured Eiryk. "You're doing remarkably well, covering for me."

Alex wasn't sober himself, not by a long shot. But he wasn't as badly off as Eiryk, who'd had almost twice the amount Alex had. It would be his job to take care of Eiryk tonight and in his opinion that meant saving him from himself.
Christian Bern 13 years ago
Christian raised his eyebrows at Rowan and crossed his hands over his chest. "-You- didn't bring me to this party." He made a point of looking around the house. "so no taking credit."

[But feel free to bring the party with you later...upstairs.]

Smiling at Alex, Cris said. "I would enjoy that. I find it the right amount of relaxing." Some days he needed to physically wind down and other days he required a mental break.

He nodded to Rowan and shrugged. "There are other people who fence and use various other weapons as well. The diversity is nice and keeps a person mentally and physically agile. I'd not mind Eiryk bringing his axe at some point for some practice against it but I can definitely introduce you to the other fencers." Of course he'd need something heavier than a fencing rapier to fend off blows from such a large weapon but variety was the spice of life...as they say.

Cris looked down at Eiryk and smiled. "Not yet. We haven't kicked your butt again yet."

Alex decided that his boyfriend was done and even drunk himself Christian would agree. He gave the dark haired man a small nod. "I think we could all use a glass of water."

[Come help me with some glasses... four might be too much with the room tilting.]

It was, of course, a shameless excuse to steal a private moment with Rowan but a valid one. Cris went to cabinet and pulled out some glasses. He filled them, shut off the water and turned around to his partner. Pulling Rowan tight against him. Christian kissed him with fierce passion before pulling away.

[I've been wanting to do that for a while.]

With one arm still around his companion, he toyed with one of the holes in Rowan's sweater, his finger lightly rubbing against the black tee shirt beneath.

"So ice or no ice?"
Rowan Murphy 13 years ago
Rowan held his arms out helplessly and said to Christian, "Details."

[I plan to. Bet on it.]

There was less interest in gaming and drinking now, and more in relaxing and talking. That suited Rowan just fine, although he'd like to snuggle up with Christian the way Alex and Eiryk always did. They looked so comfortable with each other.

"I'd really like that," he said when Cris offered to introduce him to some of the fencers. "Years and years living in the mid west... there weren't many fencing partners out there."

Rowan would have called off the drinking if Alexander hadn't. The tender care with which he touched Eiryk made Rowan both happy for his friend and a little jealous. But Cris' next suggestion gave him a glimmer of hope at least.

"Let me come help you so you don't have to carry all four," he said, dutifully following Cris' request.

In the kitchen, out of sight of Cris's other company, Rowan gladly returned Christian's fiery kiss with a steamy one of his own. He moaned very quietly, tasting Cris's lips, gently pressing his tongue between them and intentionally nicking it on one of Christian's sharp fangs.

[You're driving me crazy,] he sent back to Cris. [I love it.]

Rowan kept his arms wrapped around Christian while his lover toyed with his shirt through his sweater. The room was rocking just slightly around them, but in a pleasant way. Not the tilting whirling sensation he'd had last week.

"Oh, ice I think. The glasses might sweat a little but it might be worthwhile to wake ourselves up."

He didn't want to move though. Holding Cris, however briefly, was wonderful. Eventually though, they did weave their way back to Alex and Eiryk with drinks.
Looking around, Rowan took his glass and simply sat on the floor. It seemed easiest.

"Now this is how a drinking game should go," he said, holding his glass between both hands and drinking deeply. "Just drunk enough to feel really good."
Eiryk 13 years ago
"You do live here."

Eiryk gently corrected. It just wasn't full time, these days; however, Eiryk didn't live here full time either. He really needed to get Alex to move in with him. He loved the cute little apartment over the store, but it would be nice to settle in one place.

"Water is not a shot."

Eiryk muttered but it looked like he was out voted. He'd forgotten tequila hit him so hard. Well he'd just have to prove himself next time.

He just grinned at Rue and Christian's little bit of banter. They might do well together. Now if they'd just go out on a date with out he and Alex chaperoning... Which reminded Eiryk he owed Alex a night out without Rue and Christian chaperoning them, for now though he was happy enough to let Alex cosset him.

"All right next week, no drinking just sharp pointy objects."

He'd even bring a sword if the pretty boys insisted, but a proper one. Which in Eiryk speak meant big and scary.

He really did not want to fall asleep on Christian's couch and was very grateful to see the water. The only thing that might work better was a quick swim, but that didn't seem likely in Christian's living room.
Alex Aristos 13 years ago
Alex perked up a bit and smiled at Christian. "Okay. Time and place, and we'll do it."

He just wrapped his arms around Eiryk at his boyfriend's protest and shook his head. He didn't live at Liefde. All told they probably spent more time at Alexander's little apartment. How could he justify leaving Marie alone in the store though? At least when he and Eiryk were upstairs she could call Alex if she needed help. Granted, that had only happened once or twice but it was the principle of the thing.

He was looking forward to seeing this fencing thing. He'd watched it on TV and he was pretty sure Rowan had been serious about teaching him but they hadn't yet had a chance. Alex usually looked forward to any kind of physical activity.

Rowan offered to help Christian get some water, which was fine with Alexander. He was busy snuggling his adorable yet drunken boyfriend. It was a little tacky to do so at someone else's house but Alex's inhibitions were made somewhat looser by alcohol.

"Thank you," he said to Rowan when the redhead returned and handed him a glass. He drank and made sure Eiryk was doing the same, then took his glass from him and made sure it ended up someplace stable.
Christian Bern 13 years ago
Christian loved the passion and urgency of Rowan's kiss. His lover's soft moan was enough to make him seriously consider how much longer they could stay in the kitchen before they would be missed. [If its working on both of us then its worth it.] He smiled up at his companion, giving him one final squeeze before picking up two of the glasses. [I will admit that keeping him guessing is kind of fun.]

Next week's activity seems to have been decided upon, sharp pointy objects. "We can find somewhere to go afterward to celebrate the surviving of the pointy objects afterward, if you all wish."

It was difficult to resist sitting down next to Rowan on the floor but Cris took one of the chairs instead. It happened to be nearby but that was obviously a coincidence.

He nodded to Alex. "Absolutely." It seemed there was some debate on whether or not Alex lived in the Towers but Christian figured that was not a subject he wished to weigh in on. He suspected the dark haired man was here often enough that no one would mind and if so, well he was visiting anyway.

"So when you are not drunk driving" Cris waved a hand at the television. "what do you do, Alex?"
Rowan Murphy 13 years ago
Rowan wrapped his arms tightly around Cris and returned the brief hug before they returned to the living room. [I can only impress upon you how thrilled he'd be to know I've introduced someone else to this 'Eiryk-torturing' pass time.]

Back on the floor of Christian's living room, Rowan leaned back a little and looked up at Eiryk.
"No drinking at all?"

Then he looked at Cris.
"A ha. That's where the drinking comes in right?"

He didn't have a problem with not mixing alcohol and weaponry, although if pressed Rowan would admit that, historically, pirates didn't tend to mind that so much. Nowadays people had wised up some and managed to associate increased lifespan with not doing stupid shit. For the most part. They gave out Darwin Awards for everyone who hadn't evolved that far yet.

He turned to Alex expectantly when Cris asked after his occupation. Rowan knew Alex instructed yoga and Tai Chi. He had said as much the first time he'd been at Eiryk's apartment. But surely he had a day job as well. Rowan thought he recalled something along those lines.

He sipped at his ice water, glad for it; he hadn't wanted to drink so much he couldn't function. Right now he was pleasantly drunk and still very much functional. As if to prove the point he set his glass aside, stood, helped himself to a few snacks, and regained his position on the floor without wobbling... much.
Eiryk 13 years ago
Alex was a cute mother hen. Eiryk downed his ice water almost immediately, apparently he was a little thirsty.

But it perked him up a bit took. Christian's suggestion brought an enthusiastic nod. Now that sounded like a plan.

"I could get behind that idea. There are some fun places in town, I'll be you haven't found them yet."

Which, was code to Rue for 'you are working too much'. Apparently, Alex's mother hen streak was rubbing off on him. There had been a day and time when Eiryk would have sat back cheerfully and watched Rue try and take on half a dozen men... now he was worried about him getting enough sleep and finding Mr. or Ms. Right.

Knowing his answer to what Alex did for a living wouldn't be appreciated he only whispered it to Alex, low enough that even the two other vampires would have trouble hearing.

"I keep him chained to my bed the rest of the time."

But he didn't dare even so much as nuzzle Alex or do anything to give the game away.
Alex Aristos 13 years ago
Alexander laughed softly when Eiryk leaned close and murmured into his ear. He felt his face turning red even though he was pretty sure no one else but he had heard. Still, he laid his arm across Eiryk's shoulder and pulled him down to rest against Alex, stroking his hair softly.

"I have a shop on the strip," he said in answer to Christian's question and Rowan's curious expression. "Outdoor sports goods and camping equipment. Survival gear. That kind of thing. There's a studio above it and three times a week I give yoga and tai chi lessons."

He lifted his shoulders. His job wasn't glorious or exciting but he loved what he did and that made all the difference to him. It had been a struggle lately but Eiryk was a fantastic support for him when he hadn't expected any support at all.

"I haven't forgotten I promised to show you," he added to Rowan. "Maybe before you all try to skewer each other next week."

He had no illusions that he would be involved in that. He might watch from the sidelines and cheer a certain handsome blond viking on, but Alex wasn't planning on participating any other way.
Christian Bern 13 years ago
[There's someone else I'd like to torture...in the kindest sense of the word.]

Christian laughed at Rowan's deduction of where the drinking came into the evening. That notion reminded him of the water in his hand and he dutifully swallowed several large gulps. "At least the competition part of the evening won't leave us with a hang over."

[For hours]

He smiled and leaned forward toward Alex. "That sounds great. Perhaps you could open a second shop here in the Towers eventually." Christian thought it would be very useful and do very well. The vampires weren't as technology driven as their human brethren, at least not yet. Outdoor sports were still quite popular. Survival gear had uses beyond just recreation and his people had a regular need for random things that weren't necessary to get in bulk. "I have done some Tai Chi but not yoga." The movements were relaxing and good for balance. It was hard for Christian to sit still and contemplate his navel but moving meditation was something he could do if someone convinced him to take the time to do it.

Going back to his second, non verbal conversation, he added.

[There is a lot of chocolate to left to clean up. I'd rather lick it off of you.]
Rowan Murphy 13 years ago
Okay that was unfair. How was Rowan supposed to keep up this charade if Cris insisted on sabotaging his efforts? [Umm,] he sent back, a little mental moan. [I'm supposed to keep my hands off of you how?]

Alexander's job seemed to suit him just right, in Rowan's opinion. He knew Alex was a big fan of the outdoors. Just talking to him for a few hours was enough to understand that about him. Rowan nodded and looked interested, which he was, but it was tough to pay total attention to it when Cris was doing... that.

He sucked down a gulp of water and then sputtered as it went down the wrong tube entirely. Standing quickly, Rowan pounded himself on the chest and coughed.
"'Scuse me," he said, heading back to the kitchen.

Once there he pulled his cell phone from his pocket and fired off a quick text: You told me to send you a text when I was having issues. I'm having issues. Help!

He refilled his glass, tucked his phone away, and headed back to the living room. He shrugged apologetically.
"Sorry," he said a little sheepishly. "Wrong tube. You'd think it wouldn't matter."
Eiryk 13 years ago
That was such a becoming shade of red that Alex turned. It was one of Eiryk's favorite hobbies trying to see if he could get Alex to blush. A shame he couldn't act on that. He, however, went happily into Alex embrace and very nearly purred at the feeling of his boy friends hand in his hair. As long as Alex didn't stop he'd be a good boy for the rest of the night.

"It really is a lovely shop. He'd even gotten me out and about again."

Although they still had not worked out camping. Eiryk tended to be very nervous about sunlight it was going to take some more looking before he was entirely happy with the solution.

He grinned at Christian's suggestion though, he liked that. It was optimistic and forward thinking and would mean that Alex wouldn't have to leave the towers as much. OK that last bit was self serving, but he liked it just the same.

"You could be a chain, or would you rather be a franchise? And what is the difference exactly?"

Questions like that were why Eiryk kept a business manager and an accountant.

Rue's disappearance caused him to frown, but knowing his friend couldn't die he didn't move from where he had settled with Alex. He just snorted when the pirate did return.

"Aren't you glad we stopped drinking before you did that?"
Alex Aristos 13 years ago
Alexander smiled at Christian's suggestion. "It might be a while before I can consider that," he said. "There was a water leak in my building a few months back and I'm still recovering."

It was all he would say about his misfortune; it was over, he was working through it. That was enough. "But maybe in a couple years. I do want to branch out."

He smiled down at Eiryk.
"It would be a chain," he said. "I'll explain the difference later."

He wasn't going to bore anyone else with work talk. As it was Rowan suddenly appeared to have swallowed his water the wrong way and fled into the kitchen, coughing and pounding his chest. Around that same time Cris's cell phone went off.

As Rowan returned to the living room Christian frowned, looking down at his phone. When he looked back up, an expression of concern on his face, he said there was an emergency that had arisen that needed his attention.

Alex glanced at Eiryk and they nodded and stood. They were pleasantly wobbly but fine otherwise.
"It's a good time to call it quits," Alexander said with a grin. "Are you going to be all right dealing with it?"

Christian was just as drunk, after all, but he reassured them it was just a matter of making several calls and a few decisions. Alex had his hands full helping Eiryk but Rowan seemed to have the situation under control as he began to pick up the various controllers and pack up the wii.

Both Alex and Eiryk thanked Christian for what had definitely been a fun evening, wishing him luck with the sudden crisis as they headed out the door and back into the halls of Liefde.

Alex couldn't have been happier really... they'd enjoyed themselves and they were both in a condition to be able to continue to do so when they reached Eiryk's apartment.

It was a good night.
