A memory is what is left when something happens and does not completely unhappen. ~Edward de Bono

Mara looked around her apartment with something approaching satisfaction, although in truth she was highly unsatisfied. She had revised her plans several times already, making last minute changes and fixing minute little details that probably didn't matter but to her seemed like glaring problems.

She was more than aware of the fact that it was mostly nerves speaking. She had never, since buying this building, invited anyone but Amir to visit. She'd never wanted anyone that close. But it was Valentine's Day and she was looking forward to celebrating it. Still, what would Jin think?

This was hardly a gift; if she looked at her motives too closely she might see that it was somewhat selfish of her to have planned like this. Should she have arranged for something more formal? Dinner out? A party? Jin was so much more outgoing than she; maybe this wasn't his idea of fun at all.

Mara had wanted a night alone with him though, something that was just for them to share. She had done her best to mingle things they both enjoyed. Her gifts to him were small ones; the key to her cellar doors, which she realized he didn't need, yes, but she wanted to give to him; the dinner she'd worked to create which neither of them required but she'd thought would be enjoyable to share; the invitation to stay the day most of all, which she wasn't sure he'd want to do but Mara had fallen asleep curled up next to Jin several times now and she loved the feeling.

She wanted to feel that here, in her place, so that when he was gone perhaps a ghost of him would remain and she would always feel him there.

She looked around the dimly-lit area. Mara had very few lights in her apartment; there were, instead, a number of LED 'candles' here and there adding light where it was needed. Tonight, she'd hung three or four of her little glass mobiles from the ceiling, a blue LED light topping each so that the glass reflected the light and scattered colored prisms all over the ceiling like starlight. She didn't know if she'd keep them up but she liked the effect.

She had checked the time repeatedly; it had been a few hours since setting her trail in place. She didn't think Jin would have trouble finding her so he should be there soon. Dinner was ready; it was the sort of thing that would keep. Both that and dessert had been successful with some cook books and a few days' practice. It was too late to change any plans now. Hopefully she'd gotten at least some of the details right.

Mara turned down the music (a CD of classical acoustic guitar) so she could listen for noise downstairs. With any luck Jin would be there soon.

Jin 13 years ago
Jin watched her silently, wondering what she thought. Mara didn't say anything at first and he was worried that she was gathering the words to tell him something he didn't want to hear. She smiled at him though and that was encouraging.

He leaned forward when she asked him to help her put it on, gently putting it around her neck. The blue and silver looked wonderful on her but he felt that anything would have. Sitting back he smiled hesitantly. "It could have no finer place to rest."

Jin looked up at her uncertainly. "So you like it then? I was not too forward? I know it says a lot but its just a hope, for the future...whenever we get to it."

The Chinese wore the phoenix for weddings, for luck and harmony that it symbolized. It had become, over the years, the female counter part to the dragon. The two together symbolized the blissful relations of a husband and wife.

He realized it was possible that Mara did not interpret it that way. The Egyptians had their own phoenix. The Bennu bird was a symbol of Ra and symbolized resurrection. If so then it was still a hope for the future. Jin thought perhaps he should just remain quiet and hope that was how she saw it.

Jin wondered if she wanted him to go now. He would have little time before dawn arrived but certainly enough was left for him to make it home. He hoped not but he also did not want to be an ungracious guest, especially since Mara had trusted him enough to invite him here and not the Manor. He could help her put the dishes away first and then find out what she had in mind. Jin stood up and straightened his jacket.

"Would you like some help with these?"
Mara 13 years ago
Mara breathed in deeply as Jin leaned forward, loving his familiar scent. She tensed and was about to put her arms around him but he sat back up and she stopped. The gesture would be awkward now.

At his words she looked down, raising her hand and brushing her fingertips lightly over the beautiful blue and silver. She could feel the solid metal resting lightly around her neck, warming the longer it touched her skin. She loved it and at the same time it scared her, for every mythical phoenix died.

Why would she think it forward though? What could be forward about hope for the future?
"I think it's wonderful, Jin," she said happily. "Thank you."

His words raised a red flag though and she began to think harder. She loved literature and folklore and myth. What was she missing?

Jin stood and she hid her dismay. She didn't want that. She wanted him to sit back down, so she could curl up into his arms and kiss him and be kissed and everything would be just fine.

But Mara had no idea, really, how to express those desires. So she stood with him and said,
"Okay. Let's get them out of the way."

She picked up the tray and moved around the couch with it the short distance into the kitchen. Even though she moved slowly, it was not a hard task. They had everything rinsed and loaded into the dish washer within a few minutes, leaving her standing there awkwardly, dreading what might happen next.
Jin 13 years ago
Jin helped Mara with the dishes. They went just as fast as the others had, even though it seemed to him that Mara was moving less quickly this time. He turned to look at her when they were all done. What should he do now? Should he ask whether she wanted him to stay? That sounded rude to his own ears and he wouldn't want her to feel obligated. Should he excuse himself and leave before the sun made that impossible? What if she hadn't wanted it him to go? He could just see what happened and if they went past the sun rising then he could sleep on the couch if that was her wish though they had certainly fallen asleep together several times before.

Looking around the room, he spotted the wine package, the boxes he brought in, the wrapping paper that she had so carefully saved and his bag of clothes....

He had packed several things, unsure of what she had meant by asking him to pack something. He had brought clothes that was more formal and something more casual just in case her plans had involved going somewhere public where a tie might have been necessary or somewhere out of the way where something more rugged might be advisable.

The trail had ended here and his own attire for the evening had been fine. Jin stepped forward, leaning lightly against Mara. He smiled softly in her pearl coloured eyes. Slowly running his finger over the necklace that looked so lovely on her, Jin leaned forward and kissed her softly, lingering but gentle. He pulled back and regarded her carefully.

"Would you like me to stay?"
Mara 13 years ago
In that very ridiculously awkward moment of mutual silence Mara decided she was about to ruin Valentine's Day after all. Because if Jin walked down those stairs and out the door she might have to tackle him and that was assuredly not romantic. She didn't know how to reinforce her invitation to him though; it had seemed obvious to her when she'd mentioned he should bring extra clothing.

Jin leaned in to her and she met him halfway. His soft, gentle kiss made her want to weep with frustration. She wasn't used to this. Jin was going to kill her. Again. Twining her arms around his neck she returned the intimate caress, drinking him in, loving every second. It was too short. He broke away and looked at her with an expression she couldn't quite place.

And then he saved her by asking that one question. The one she'd thought was apparent. Mara stared up at Jin for a moment. What if he was only asking to be polite?

Moving in to mold herself against him once more she kissed him again, tightening her arms around him. Breaking away, taking a deep fortifying breath, she exhaled slowly and lightly kissed her way along his jaw to his ear, where she whispered because it seemed more appropriate then speaking out loud.

"Always."

As far as she could tell, that was the only answer she could foresee to that particular question.
Jin 13 years ago
Oh... Oh! Jin smiled slowly and held her tighter. He hummed softly in appreciation of her gentle attention. Nuzzling her hair and kissing her forehead as her lips brushed against his skin. Let it never be said that he was completely clueless. Just partially. Somewhere there was faint knowing laughter from a sister that was safely far away. He muttered quietly in his defense.

"I wanted to be sure."

And now that he was, Jin felt much lighter. He leaned down and scooped Mara up into his arms, giving her a wide tooth filled grin. "I think you've spent plenty of time in the kitchen for this week perhaps we can find somewhere better to be?"

He brought them both over to the middle of the living area and stood there holding her. Jin gave her a mischievous grin and said. "Close your eyes." When she had done so, he twirled around a few times in place and then quietly suggested. "Okay, with your eyes still closed point to where you'd like to be set down." Jin leaned forward and gave her a gentle kiss, unable to resist how lovely she looked resting in his arms. He murmured softly. "Lets hope you don't point to the bookshelf because that could get uncomfortable."
Mara 13 years ago
Mara smiled back at Jin. "Now you know," she confirmed. She kept forgetting, thinking back to their night at the Piazza, that he looked for signals the same as she did. She had to learn how to give them properly.

As she was swept off of her feet Mara kept her arms around Jin's neck, tipping her head sideways to rest on his shoulder and gently kissing his neck as he walked back out into the living room with her.
"I'm in the best place I can be right now," she said, wriggling comfortably deeper into his arms.

She laughed as she was spun around, not enough to really throw her senses off at all. Jin's request made her cheeks burn.

"What if I don't want to be set down?" She asked without opening her eyes.

Was he going to make her say it? Mara was embarrassed; she was hardly an adept lover. This was not her forte. She reached one hand up and took Jin's chin between her fingers, turning his head gently in the direction of her shoji screen and the private area behind it.

Her hand was shaking a little as she released Jin and pointed in the same direction.
"Maybe if you head that way you might find someplace appropriate."

After all, they'd already tried out couches and look where that had gotten them. In the meantime, waiting for the inevitable delivery, Mara kissed her way along Jin's neck, the only part of him she could really reach from here. She followed the little trail she made with a warm caress of her lips, the tip of her tongue flickering out to taste just that small spot. And after that, giving in just a tiny bit to temptation, she pressed her teeth against the crook of his neck, not breaking the skin but biting down softly.
Jin 13 years ago
Jin chuckled slightly and answered her question. "If that's the case then I can stand here and hold you all night. I'm happy with that."

Her hand on his chin was a little startling, especially when she pointed his head in the direction of the bed. Jin noticed her hand trembling just a bit and felt bad for his playful insensitivity. He walked behind the screen and kissed her gently, pretending not to have noticed. "Don't be silly, Mara. There's not enough room for the both of us at the vanity."

Jin gave her a sly grin before turning and sitting down on the bed with her still in his lap. "Besides you don't need it. You're always beautiful." Her kisses on his neck were enough to make his heart beat faster. He inhaled sharply at her little bite, shivers running up his back at the feel of her teeth on his skin.

Now that they were seated, he released her legs and wrapped his other arm around her. Pulling her close, he kissed her. The first kiss was light and gentle. The next one deepened, he raised a hand to cradle her neck as he tasted her lips, they still held a faint hint of orange. Jin could think of nothing more perfect. He carefully took her bottom one between his own, sucking on it gently before releasing it. His tongue tentatively flickered across her mouth, requesting, not demanding.
Mara 13 years ago
Mara smiled softly at Jin's joking playfulness. "So much for perception," she chuckled.

Jin took pity on her, however, bringing her to the bed and sitting so the she was arranged on his lap. She heard his sharp intake of breath and raised her head.
"I'm sorry," she said, misinterpreting the sound.

Mara didn't move her arms from around his neck but she let her fingers dive into the satisfying luxury of Jin's long hair as he kissed her with slowly rising fervor. Mara loving kissing Jin. His mouth was sweet and spicy at the same time, warm and soft against hers. The draw on her lower lip made her sigh softly.

Feeling the light press of his tongue she parted her lips slightly, tilting her head just a little and returning the caress with tentative curiosity. Her whole body felt odd, like that candle she'd noticed inside was reaching every nerve at once and warming it from the inside out.

She pressed against Jin, letting herself relax in his arms. She didn't think about fear or hesitation. Mara felt safe and warm with him. Excited, anxious, nervous, yes, but all in anticipation of something new about to happen.
Jin 13 years ago
He explored her mouth with his tongue, in small forays, teasing and kissing in between them. When he was sure that she was enjoying his advances, Jin deepened the kiss, hungrily tasting her, letting there be know doubt about how she made him feel.

Moving to her neck, he hoped to illustrate exactly how that sound he made came to be. Jin kissed his way down that graceful curve, before finding a spot to pause and lavish with attention. He licked and nibbled, and then drew back to blow on it softly, before putting his lips to her skin again, sucking on it a little harder, and dragging his teeth lightly across it.

Jin leaned back and smiled at her, longing in his eyes. "Don't be sorry." Jin explained his reaction. "I very much enjoyed it and would appreciate you doing it again."

He turned and settled her further on the bed and then stretched out next to her. Reaching for her, Jin slid her partly on top of him, preferring to let her have the freedom to pull away any time she liked. He knew he was going no where unless she wanted him to but Jin wanted Mara to feel safe enough to explore and enjoy. He brushed a hand down her back and smiled up into her eyes.

"I will make you a promise. I will tell you if there is something that I don't like so long as you do the same for me. I don't want this to go farther than you want but I do want you to know how you make me feel, how attracted I am to you." Jin glanced down at certain evidence that could be seen even through his clothes. "In case it wasn't obvious." He lifted his eyebrows and gave her a slow grin. "Now come bite me again...please."
Mara 13 years ago
Each kiss, punctuated with gentle caresses by Jin's tongue, served to melt away any remaining tension Mara felt. By the time he kissed her deeply, a slight edge to it she had sensed beneath the surface but not felt until that point, she was ready for it, even eager.

Jin's mouth upon her neck was breathtaking and she made several surprising noises of her own as he made his way over the curve of her neck. She tilted her head away from him, giving him room to play while her hands gripped the fabric of his shirt, convulsively at times when he hit a sensitive spot. And that, really, seemed to be everywhere he touched.

Mara smiled and let out a relieved little puff of air when he spoke. How did he know just what to say, what to do? Could he read her that well? Apparently he could, for he stretched out beside her on the bed and didn't move to climb onto her.

Far from it; he lay there and moved her slightly on top of himself, something Mara was not used to. The last time she'd done this with anyone there was nowhere near this sort of intimacy involved. She had lain there doing her job... staying still... until it was done with.

Jin made it a new set of experiences altogether. Clearly there was more to do beforehand, and Mara began to take interest in what exactly there could be. She nodded at him and shyly said,
"I promise." She paused a moment and then added, "I'm attracted to you too." That much was obvious. "I just don't have a lot of... practice."

If he showed her what he liked though, what was good and what was bad, Mara would do her best to make him feel the way he was making her feel right now. She wanted to love him, and do it well.

He asked her to bite him again, and she thought from his tone that he meant it more seriously than her tiny little bite from before. Looking down at him Mara smiled. She brushed her fingers up to the collar of his shirt. Carefully she undid the first few closures, exposing the golden-hued skin of his neck and chest. She reached across him and trailed her fingernails very lightly down the side of his neck, sliding her hand over his chest, feeling the well-defined muscles there.

Leaning into his arms, feeling his hand on her back, Mara returned his hungry kiss from before, gently nibbling at his lower lip when she pulled away. As her fingertips slowly brushed over his collar bone, her mouth wandered down the other side of his neck. Taking a page out of Jin's book Mara moved along the line of his beating pulse, caressing gently with her tongue and teeth, mingling soft gentle bites with warm kisses, stopping to suck carefully just at the point of his jaw.

Parting her lips she pressed her teeth to his skin once more, this time letting them penetrate ever so slightly, feeling the barest drops of blood touch her tongue as she moved it against his neck. Remembering his reaction to her mouth against his wrist at Shades', Mara drew lightly now at that sensitive area in the same fashion, not feeding but trying instead to recreate that enjoyable feeling.
Jin 13 years ago
Jin smiled up at her and shrugged slightly. "Its all right. Even with practice every person is different. It can be awkward at first but there is also the excitement of discovery, learning what makes someone happy, where they like to be touched or kissed." He glanced both ways before leaning close to her ear as if imparting a well kept secret. "I love your hands in my hair and.." Jin blushed just slightly as he confessed to another thing that he enjoyed. "perhaps it is because I am really a large cat but my chest...is sensitive." Now he was a bright shade of red but he looked up at her just the same. As a tiger that part of him was lower to the ground and well protected. It was a sign of trust if he let someone get close enough to touch the soft fur of his belly. As a human, it was still a sign of intimacy for him and anything she did was likely to drive him crazy in the best possible way. "And obviously I enjoy being bitten." He smiled, he figured that was generally a given for most of their kind, at least with someone they wanted to be with.

Mara gently tugged on the collar of his shirt, pulling it open enough to get at his neck. His heart beat faster as her nails slid over his skin. Jin watched her, eyes half closed, a lazy smile of enjoyment on his face.

Her kiss brought a return of the fevered intensity that they had moments before and he responded with equal passion, his hands stroking her back and hips before one found its way up into her hair. Mara moved on to other parts of him. Her mouth on his skin was indescribable; Jin tilted his head back so that she could reach more, his eyes closing completely and his hands going still. Anticipation was sweet torture. Her gentle nibbles and kisses were wonderfully teasing, each one making his breath catch, waiting for the moment when she bit him.

And then Mara's teeth slid into his skin, a tiny bite, but enough. He moaned softly, arching slightly as she sucked gently against the wound. When she pulled away again, he opened his eyes and gave her an intent look and a fanged smile before quietly adding.

"Its...safe to say. I enjoyed that."
Mara 13 years ago
Mara rested her head on Jin's shoulder briefly, a soft smile upon her lips. Yes, she wanted to learn all of these things, but just for Jin. She was starting to pick up on the sounds he made, each soft sigh, moan or gasp giving her a clue where to go next, what to do, how to proceed. She discovered she loved these noises; they seemed to be a measure of her success at bringing him pleasure and she wanted to hear more of them.

Jin's blush told her his words were for her benefit. She doubted he would have been so straightforward, so blunt, if he weren't so clearly trying to keep her comfortable. She was grateful for his consideration, his gentle understanding; even without knowing the details of her past he took her fears into account.

"Then I want to do all of that," she said as he described some of the things he enjoyed.

She began with his hair, part of which was bound up behind his head. Mara drew her legs up and knelt next to Jin on the bed, leaning over him and carefully pulling his hair loose. Sliding back down beside him again she smiled and lay half on top of him, dropping her mouth to his once more as she slid her fingers into the silky richness of his hair. Her senses were flooded with tastes and textures; his mouth and tongue against hers, the scent of his skin, his hair, the feel of his body against hers and his hair through her fingers.

She could easily lie here and kiss him all day like this. Mara couldn't get enough of it. But she had a further goal, and to that end she left one hand in Jin's hair, stroking gently, fingernails scoring lightly across his scalp, and dropped the other to where she'd left off with the toggles on his shirt. She undid each one with slow deliberation. When she was finished she reluctantly broke away from Jin's lips and pulled her hand from his hair.

She admired her handiwork for a moment or two, noting that Jin's time in the military had not left him soft. His shirt fell open to reveal smooth olive skin contoured with the ridges and valleys of well-defined but not overly bulky muscle. Mara glanced up at Jin for a moment before ducking her head and pressing her lips to the hollow of his throat. From there she moved along his collar bone, journeying along with lips, tongue and teeth.

Boldly moving downward Mara rested one hand on Jin's stomach, touching her nose to the little valley that defined his pectorals and rubbing, catlike, across one side of his chest. She turned her head to the side and nibbled her way back to the slightly darkened flesh that marked the nipple, pausing for a moment and considering before tracing that outline with the tip of her tongue. Having done that she pressed her lips to that area and sucked gently, her tongue flickering softly against his skin as he had done to her neck previously.

She looked up to gauge Jin's reaction as her fingertips continued to lightly stroke his stomach, tracing the outline of the muscles there as well.

"Like that?" she asked, raising her head enough to see his face clearly.
Jin 13 years ago
Jin closed his eyes and enjoyed the tender care with which she took his hair out of its tie. He opened them again when she was done to give her a grateful smile. The feel of her lips on his and her hands in his hair was delectable. As she kissed him, her mouth, tongue and fingers exploring him, Jin found it hard to believe that she hadn't done this a thousand times before. She seemed to know just how to touch him to make every part of him come alive with desire.

There was something erotic about being slowly undressed; nothing was being revealed that hadn't been seen before but the act and intent made it different. He could feel the light little tugs on the buttons as she unfastened each one. Anticipation made his heart beat faster and his skin feel flush.

Jin watched Mara as she pushed the openings of the jacket apart and revealed his chest. He smiled at her delicate caress that was so endearingly catlike. The smile slowly faded, not for lack of joy; but because his entire focus was on her movements. Her mouth on his chest made his pulse quicken and his breath come in short quick gasps. Mara teased him perfectly with little nibbles and feather light kisses. The touch of her tongue caused him to stop breathing entirely. The feel of her mouth clamped around his nipple, warm and soft, sucking gently, was incredible. His moaned, somewhat louder than before, his head tilted back and his eyes closed.

When she pulled back a bit and asked him what he thought, Jin lifted his head from the pillow. He took a deep breath and answered in a voice hoarse with desire.

"Exactly like that."

Jin sat up and shrugged out of the brocade jacket and laid it on the floor, folding it over itself neatly, before settling down again. He smiled up at her, brushing his fingertips lightly across her cheek.

"Is there anything else you want to try?" Jin leaned up and nibbled gently on her neck before adding. "Or you could tell me what you like."
Mara 13 years ago
Mara was rewarded for her efforts by the sound of Jin's voice, somewhat more ragged than she was used to, and the rapid rise and fall of his strong chest. She smiled as he sat up and removed his shirt. When he raised his hand to her cheek she turned her head and gently bit the tip of his index finger before releasing it, feeling playful and somewhat more confident from his response to her explorations thus far.

His questions made her furrow her brow momentarily.
"I liked what we were doing."

She hadn't ever had the chance to really explore like this before. Touching Jin was a new experience. It gave her control, made her feel good to please him. She enjoyed it so far. What else was there to try?

His mouth on her neck made her shiver. Mara wrapped her arms around him, pressing close, enjoying the way the muscles of his back flexed beneath her hands.
"I don't know," she finally answered.

She sat back a little, looking at Jin, trying to figure out how to explain.
"I haven't... the last time I did this was very long ago." Her face grew red with the confession. "It wasn't like this."

She gestured between them.
"It was just... a thing. I wasn't expected to, um, do anything."

The topic caused her distress, only because she was embarrassed over it. Surely Jin understood how women were viewed hundreds of years ago. She couldn't see him treating anyone like that himself but things had been different back then and Mara's history made her forays into the world of intimacy few and far between. She had no idea what was expected of her now.

She thought of something she wanted, though, since he had asked. Mara slid herself over, kneeling over Jin, straddling his lap and settling down. She took a deep breath, trying to figure out how to explain her request.

"When we first met," she said, "I offered you blood and you took it." She smiled. "And you were gentle. And kind. And perfect."

Resting her forehead against his, she continued. "Then, in the alley... it was different. It was nothing like that at all." She closed her eyes against the memory of unwanted, uninvited fangs digging into her flesh, tearing forcefully out. "I don't want that memory anymore. It's the most recent one and every time I close my eyes it's there."

Mara looked down.
"Every time you touch me, you erase something I don't want and replace it with something better. Will you do it again?"

She wanted to remember this, not the alley way. She wanted to feel Jin's mouth against her neck, his arms around her. That memory was worth holding close when she slept. Mara framed Jin's face in her hands and kissed him softly.
"I want to fall asleep thinking of you. Not... that."
Jin 13 years ago
Jin chuckled at her answer and spoke softly next to her ear. "Me too and you are more than welcome to do it some more."

He leaned back when she did and watched her as she explained. When Mara said she hadn't been expected to do anything he raised his eyebrows slightly. Jin understood what she meant; there were times not long ago when sex between a husband and wife was for the sake of having children. A woman didn't have to enjoy it, just endure it. Most men went to a prostitute or a mistress when they wanted to enjoy sex with a woman who participated. He personally could never do such a thing to someone he cared about, old as he was. But he was somewhat confused because Mara wasn't a young vampire, so why would she simply lay there for someone she could have tossed away? Or had she not done this since she was a... surely she had. Perhaps this man didn't show her better. Jin had the urge to find this man somewhere in time and strangle him. His voice was soft, he asked.

"You didn't enjoy it then? Have you ever...enjoyed it?"

Mara seemed to have thought of something because she scooted forward, straddling his lap. Jin wasn't quite sure where this was going but he liked it already. When she spoke of the time at the Halloween party when he needed her blood after being drugged, Jin blushed but smiled. Mara continued explaining and the smile transformed into a concerned frown. He wrapped his arms around her, holding her lightly as he listened to her request.

Blinking back tears, Jin looked down and nodded his head. Returning his gaze to her's, he gave her a reassuring smile. "I would honored to, Mara."

Jin kissed her gently, lingering for several more before moving down to her neck. The light dress that she was wearing had a low neckline and thin little straps so there was nothing save the necklace he had given her impeding his access. Jin slid his fingers up to the clasp. "I'll put it back." He promised. "I don't want to get blood on it." He set it on the bed next to them.

Leaning forward, he nibbled on her ear, and gently slid her hair out of the way. Jin brought one hand up to cradle her head and with the other he lightly brushed his fingertips along the graceful line of her neck stopping and the ball of her shoulder. Jin bent to touch his lips to her skin, kissing and nibbling gently. Inhaling deeply he took in her scent, light and clean but still warm and feminine. He wrapped his free arm around her back and held her close. He could feel her pulse beneath his lips, his fangs ached in anticipation. Jin touched them lightly to her skin, dragging them gently across the soft flesh, giving her time to tell him to stop if she wanted. With great care he bit harder, her blood seeping into his mouth little by little. The first taste of it was euphoria. Jin closed his eyes and sucked a bit harder, savoring the taste of her, now familiar but all the more sweet. He drank slowly, drawing out each mouthful of blood to prolong the experience without draining her terribly. Eventually he ran his tongue gently over the little marks, licking and kissing the wound that would have closed without his aid. Then he made his way back up to claim her mouth once more before pulling away.

"How was that?"
Mara 13 years ago
Mara smiled at Jin. "Good. I want to." She did want to. She couldn't get his voice out of her head; it had taken up residence and she adored it. She loved the feel and scent and sight of him.

As she spoke to him, she let her hands fall away from his face and played with his hair again, running her fingers through it, wondering brazenly if it might be somewhat tangled after this. She stopped momentarily at his question but resumed shortly, shaking her head quickly.

"Enjoyed it... no. I thought it was something I wanted but when it got serious, it never felt good. Just... awkward."

Mara bit her lip gently.
"I'll tell you about it later if you want," she offered. "Just... not now. This is just for me and you." She didn't want to taint this experience with the past. It was enough that Jin could help her put her recent ghost to rest, and she sighed happily when he agreed to, even though she hadn't really expected that he'd say no.

He kissed her several more times and Mara made a happy noise against his lips each time, humming her pleasure with his caresses. She nodded at him when he stated his reason for removing her necklace and then shivered with pleasure at the light feel of his teeth on her ear.

She wanted to melt; his arms around her and the delightful warmth of his mouth upon her skin made her weak with pleasure. As she felt that tiny insignificant pain that marked his gentle bite she did melt, letting out a soft moan as he drew from her neck, tongue gently working at her skin, drinking slowly.

"Oh, Jin."

The pleasure of it sent a warm sensation through the core of her body and she rocked her hips against him, instinctively seeking to fit herself perfectly to him. She gasped softly at the feel of his fangs in her neck at the same time as she felt the evidence of his arousal between them. His arms, holding her close, should have frightened her. On anyone else, they might have. But this was Jin, and Mara wanted to be here with him. There was nothing to fear from him but his absence.

As he pulled away, kissing the tiny punctures closed before attending to her lips once more, Mara smoothed her hands down his chest, letting them rest lightly just above his hips. At the sound of his voice she opened her eyes, knowing she must look ridiculously wanton, straddling him as she was, lips parted and slightly swollen, panting a little.

She leaned into him, feeling his warmth through the thin fabric of her dress.
"Perfect," she said softly. "You're perfect."

The warm feeling had settled in, unpacked its bags, and didn't seem to be going anywhere any time soon. It filled her completely. If she could have purred in this form she would have.
Jin 13 years ago
Jin took in what she said, resolving to make this experience different. He didn't want her to have to go into details now and was glad when she chose not to. However long it took, he was determined that it would not be awkward or unpleasant. If that meant he went without another night, another month, another year, then so be it.

The feel of Mara pushing closer and the sounds of her enjoying his bite were bliss. He longed to hear her say his name like that again and he hoped to find other things that would persuade her to do so.

He looked down, smiling bashfully at being pronounced perfect.

Jin glanced back up at Mara, perched on top of him, her breathing quick and her skin flushed. He didn't want to go so slow that he frustrated them both but he didn't want to frighten her or do something to make her unhappy. He bit his lip thoughtfully, trying to find the right speed.

"Trust me?" Jin gave her something of a mischievous smile. "This..."He looked down between them. "You in my lap, is wonderfully sexy." He sighed. "I hate to ask you to move." Jin slid from beneath her and then stood, carefully removing the rest of his clothes. He was surprised to be somewhat shy; despite her having seen him naked and nearly naked several times before. He was nervous now, not sure if this was going to be okay with her.

He laid back down on the bed but made no move to pull her close. Jin reached for her hand instead. Watching her for her reaction, he explained. "I want you to be free to explore all of me if you like. I want you to feel comfortable touching and playing. I'm never going to force you or pressure you. We can go however far you want to go." He pulled the hand up to his mouth and placed a kiss in her palm. Then he reached for the little necklace and leaned forward enough to place it back around her neck.

Mara nodded immediately when Jin asked her to trust him. When he moved away she raised her eyebrows but his purpose became readily apparent as the remainder of his clothing was quickly shed and he rejoined her once more on the comfortable bed. He ddn't reach for her immediately. Instead he took her hand and spoke softly.

Jin's words were sweet, sincere, and wrapped Mara in a cocoon of emotion that made her smile. She closed her eyes when he kissed the palm of her hand and opened them again when she felt him close, replacing the beautiful blue and silver phoenix around her neck.

That moment was when it hit her. The significance of the phoenix. She hadn't been seeing it from Jin's perspective. She'd looked at it wrong. Mara felt her breath catch in her throat. Whenever we get to it, he had said. The impact of those words, in retrospect, was profound.

Before Jin could pull his hands away Mara caught them and held them between her own. Tilting her head down she rubbed against him.
"I'm comfortable with you," she said firmly. "I'm not afraid with you Jin. I have never been, for some reason. You make me feel wonderful."

She pulled his hands close and leaned in to him. She pulled his arms around her, brushing her lips against his, letting her tongue quest gently along. Guiding his hands to the short zipper on the back of her dress, she arched her back. At the feel of the cool metal opening, she shrugged her shoulders from the thin little straps and wriggled until she could pull her arms free.

Mara slipped out of the light dress, letting it fall to the floor, and ignored her own flushed skin. She continued to kiss Jin, deep intimate kisses that promised a much longer road yet to travel.

"I want you," she said when she finally broke away. She gave a soft laugh and shook her head. "I think I need you."

Mara twined her arms around Jin's neck and kissed him again, sighing softly at the feel of her breasts pressed against Jin's chest. She had had nothing but panties on beneath the dress, not because she had particularly anticipated this but because she was not particularly voluptuous and didn't generally require anything else.

Picking up her exploration from where she left off before Mara pushed gently to lie Jin back on the bed and deliberately licked her way back down to his chest. Remembering his reaction the last time, she repeated her caresses on the other side of his chest, this time gently taking the slightly rougher flesh of his nipple between her teeth, sucking briefly, and letting go. Her hands skimmed down his stomach, over his hips, and lingered, hovering, over the slightly intimidating member that seemed to be straining up toward her.

"Can I...?"

She wanted to explore everything. Mara wanted to know all of Jin and she knew for a fact that she wanted him to love her completely tonight. But for that he was right; she needed to be comfortable.

"I want to touch you."

Jin smiled at her words, heartened to hear that he had never done anything to frighten her in the time they had known each other. "I would like to keep making you feel wonderful." He wondered again whether that could easily change if he did the wrong thing. It seemed less likely.

Mara's tugging on his hands distracted him from his thoughts and where she placed them banished those worries all together. Her mouth returned to his and Jin found himself torn between the intoxicating distraction of kissing Mara and the task she'd put into his hands. They fumbled only slightly while his mouth tasted and teased.

Jin was not sure whether she meant she needed him physically right now or if she was speaking of their relationship. Either way, it was still marvelous to hear. The feel of her naked against his chest drove all other considerations from his mind, though he briefly reflected that he needed Mara, in both ways, just as much.

When she leaned away and pushed him gently backward, Jin told her so. "I want and need you too, more than words can say."

It was a good thing he had not tried to be more eloquent because she thoroughly distracted him to the point of speechlessness. Her kisses and licks across his chest wound him tighter with each one. Her mouth sucking on him once more threatened to drive him insane. Jin gasped, his hands clutching at the covers He opened his eyes when she let go and watched her hands play over him, moving ever lower. They paused tantalizingly close to his erection and she looked over at him.

Her request was irresistible in more ways than one. Jin smiled, answering her with unadorned honesty.

"Yes, I would like it very much if you did."

Mara was delighted with Jin's reaction as she explored and tasted. She briefly worried when he gripped the bed cover but quickly recognized the reaction as something good. Those little gasps and sighs drove her on; she didn't think she would ever tire of hearing them.

At Jin's enthusiastic response to her question Mara dropped her head, her hair spilling across his stomach. She kissed a trail down his side, over the hard ridges of tensed muscle. Letting her hand drop, she lightly touched a finger to the tip of him, surprised at the velvety texture of the skin there. Tracing a circle, she let her finger trail down along his length and then back up, trying to grow accustomed to the way he felt.

Boldly she took him into her hand, stroking with her thumb, her gaze flickering up to his face to see what felt good. She might not have done this herself but Mara wasn't entirely sheltered. She read books; she watched movies. Closing her fingers gently around his shaft she smoothed her hand up and down, slowly, gently, before releasing him to wander down further and explore the feel and texture of the sac beneath.

Curiosity took over and Mara shifted further down on the bed. She caught Jin's scent, the musky, spicy aroma of desire and arousal, and followed it with her mouth upon his skin down to the depression where the inside of his thigh joined his body. Sucking softly, she moved her tongue against him as her free hand steadied herself. Glancing up again she closed her other hand around his shaft once more and stroked softly as she bit down into his thigh, not far from where her hand was experimenting, ready to move away immediately if the combination of sensations proved to be unpleasant.
