Dinner... Meeting (Closed)

(Xerxes)

Oce sat at the circular table near the back. She had not been able to get in touch with Megan so decided to meet with Xerxes and get a little bit more information on him before meeting with her Elder. Not wanting to be in an uncomfortable situation Ocean called Xerxes to a middle sized French bistro.

She had found it a while back and it was very well run. She often came to speak with the owner who had once lived in France. Oce had come straight from her office and wore an ivory v neck suit. The jacket was made to fit with out a blouse. She liked to wear these when she went out after they were more 'sophisticated' but still attired useful around the office. Fixing her collar, the gold broach on her lapel and smoothing out her hair was something she did regularly. She never liked to look disheveled it would give the opponent and advantage. Oce began to fiddle with her necklace.

"I wonder who he is." She said out loud. It was a question that had plagued her since their meeting. Waiting for him to arrive she ordered a bottle of wine to be left. An 1870 Bordeaux was their specialty and of course given to her 'on the house'. Oce had done many free cases creating a strong connection with their 'human' community. One never knew when favors would be needed. She nodded to the proprietor and thanked him for his kindness. When he returned to ask if she was ready she informed him she was waiting for a guest. Making idol chat she asked about his family, his wife and their 5 children.

How any managed that household she never knew. Smiling he insisted they were all well and excused himself to attend a newly arrived couple. Her French flowed off her tongue with ease. She adopted the English language and all but erased her French accent accept when she was at home. It did not suit her going under aliases and not being able to fit her background.

He was relieved she was fine; although he handled the situation moderately well, he still had been worried, more worried then he was ready to admit to himself. Her reassuring smile was the kind that could calm a hurricane. It held an almost magical quality. And he liked it.

Xerxes helped her up and looked around. Although he hadn't been in town for long, he knew the way to a park nearby, which would be pleasant around now.

He offered her his arm, with theatrical flare and said,
"Just until your legs get their strength back, I don't know when we will find some more water nearby to wake you."

His eyes twinkled and he nodded to their left, "this way; I'd love to show you this wonderful park nearby."

Oce smiled as Xerxes helped her up. "Thank you sir, I am sure no water would be necessary." She pinched his arm playfully. Oce vaguely remembered a park in the direction he was turned. "I would be honored." She bowed her head and walked in step with him.

"I can honestly say I never get out much. Although my apartment is around here, I go to the restaurant and the cafe we met at before more then anything else." She nodded taking in the evening. "One could categorize me as a work-aholic."Â?

"I know what you mean," he smiled as he looked down into her eyes. "I kinda was away from my home for two decades, working."

Xerxes hadn't found a reason to stay, he thought to himself; he hadn't planned to stay long this time either, but he was finding a couple reasons to stick around.

"And it seems I never can really escape my work anyways, I mean, technically, the dinner was work. At least. that is my excuse to spend time with you." He poked her side teasingly, a wide grin lighting up his face.

"And can you blame me?! I mean, COME ON!" he began immitating the popular speech style, "You are like, totally, way far out," he didn't quite get it right, however.

Oce couldn't imagine being away from the clan for 2 decades. She bounced from a year here and a year there but always ended up back at the beginning.

They strolled along the street and she turned to look ahead of them as she listened. Xerxes had started to let his guard down and was now joking with her. She wasn't sure where it had come from but it was a side she had not expected to see earlier that evening. "Why Mr. Asha is that you in there? Or have you been deceiving me with your charming, attractive, and distinguished act?" She joked back before referring to his

"I can never escape it either-" Just as she said it her phone rang. Picking it up she had received a message Megan was looking for her. Sighing she guessed this was he only chance. "For example, I have to go now." She looked at him and gave him an 'I am sorry look'.

"I really enjoyed our dinner." She said stopping. "A little exciting near the end but those kind of things keep life interesting don't they?" She smiled.

Xerxes slowed his walk as they neared the park. He smiled at her playful jibe and replied sagely, "My dear Océane, when you have reached my age you will discover the infinate number of facets that make up a person; I am youthfully fun and jovial while also distinguished and 'charming'," he used his hands to put quotations around the word," as you call it." He leaned in closer, for dramatic effect and said, "I call it honesty."

He turned and smiled cheerily, but his expression sobered as his eyes locked on hers. No matter how much he willed himself to pull away, his body seemed stubbornly opposed to the notion.

They slowed down and he answered her glib remark. She giggled softly then realized just how close he was. She took a deep breath and inhaled his scent. It was very distinct but she couldn't put her finger on just what it was... As she thought she realized JUST how close he was his breath could be felt faintly upon her skin and she went to move but all that would was her fingers. Her hand brushed against his.

The slight touch made her blood run warm and she leaned in kissing him softly. Realizing just what she had done she pulled away. Colour blossomed upon her cheeks.

"Thank you again." She smiled and turned away towards Evenhet's building.

Xerxes stood silently, watching as the beautiful vampire walked away into the night. A look of satisfied shock blanketed his face and his breathing was shallow. A slight breeze, pleasant and cool whispered through the trees over him.

The entrance to the park was a few feet behind him, a large oak stood testiment to the age of the place. Beyond, a small fountain gurgled soothingly. The scent of flowers lingered with the even more beautiful smell of Océane Émond. Océane Émond of Clan Evenhet, vampire daughter of Xerxes' former lover had stopped an Ancient in his tracks. Her power, the Persian knew, lay not in her aquired vampire abilities but in her personality.

Well after she had vanished into the night, the solitary man sighed deeply, full of satisfaction, expectation, and wonder. He turned, heading back towards his car, back towards the mundane world that seemed so far removed from the place he had just been.

He hummed a popular tune from decades before, smiling at his own sappiness.
