Warming Up (Attn: Eiryk)

Alex sat, feeling slightly fidgety, at a corner booth in the Thai restaurant Eiryk had given him directions to the previous night. Part of him was understandably nervous; Eiryk hadn't been entirely sober last night. What if he'd changed his mind? The other part of him was hopeful. He'd actually enjoyed talking to someone compatible. It had been a while since he'd been with anyone, and even then he'd never actually managed to sustain any kind of relationship beyond a couple of months. Alexander just never had the time.

He smoothed the front of his button-down shirt over his chest. He'd opted for sort of dress-casual; medium blue artfully worn jeans with a white shirt over them. His usual t-shirt fit snugly to his chest under the button-down shirt, only the dark blue collar showing a little. He didn't wear jewelry often but there was a leather thong around his neck with a small, weighty object hanging from it disappearing into his shirt.

He'd gotten here a few minutes early. Maybe he should have gone for fashionably late. Except he suspected he might have chickened out if he'd done that.

He was a little disappointed when Alexander opted for coffee, but at least they would still be able to talk. It was extremely easy to enjoy Alexander's company and the continued to slowly relax, open up, show a tiny bit more humor and personality. Each time he did so Eiryk felt rewarded.

Eiryk would have been happy to talk until sunrise, and then bring Alexander back to his place. It was killing him to respect the young man's wishes. You'd think that as the older of the two he would have more patience. But he was failing in that regard. He could only hope he wasn't coming on too strong.

When Alexander this time made the first move and kissed him goodnight Eiryk could have danced. He wasn't coming on too strongly. He also could have gotten a lot more aggressive, Alexander had to feel how much restraint Eiryk was exercising. And that had damned well get him some brownie points down the road.

Reluctantly they parted, Eiryk would certainly be calling soon. He doubted the younger man would do so just yet. He didn't go home though, not just yet. He had to do something with all the excess energy the date had left him with. He drove to the water front went to the beach stripped and dove in. He swam, and swam. The cold and the movement of the ocean both wore him out and and soothed him. He might be able to sleep the day once he finally did get out and go back to the towers.
