Did You Hear That (Attn: Kem and Drew)

The house wasn't dark, just dimly lit. Reign had a -vicious- migraine and the light only aggravated it. There was only one light on in the kitchen and one in the guest bath, both low watt bulbs, and they were only on because she didn't like laying around in total darkness. The TV flickered at her, Batman Begins, it was a darkly filmed movie and, much like the lights, didn't really aggravate her migraine. She lay on the sofa, a big glass of ice water on the table and a cold gel mask on her face just waiting for the pain to recede, she'd taken something, but that only blunted the edges. It would take an hour or two to for her to actually feel better.

Lying there, she heard Sirius get up. That wasn't unusual, he had a doggie door and used it and he did have roam of the house, so Reign didn't even think about it. He came back and settled down again. Only to stir a few seconds later. That was odd. Even with the mask on her face she could hear him moving, he was very clearly patrolling the house. Reign tried to rationalize, Drew was coming over. He was probably playing some dumb game and wigging the mutt out.

She whistled sharply, hurting her head, and called to the big dog.

"Sirius, come. Its just Drew."Â?

The big dog came and sat next to her. Sat, he didn't lay down. He remained alert, his ears twitching at sounds only he could hear. He growled, a low warning. Migraine or not Reign pulled the gel mask off, sat up and went to look for her phone, she'd left it charging somewhere, and wondered where she'd left her glasses.

"Its just a cat you dork."Â?

But Reign was trying to convince herself as much as any one.

Reign 13 years ago
Reign only shook her head and shrugged. Frustrated and scared. She almost wished this had been a burglary. All this cryptic talk about people killing themselves and being killed she they couldn't give information to the enemy was surreal. What enemy? She was a pool player for god's sake, not a spy.

Kem stood to leave and she placed her hand on his, confirming that it was alright. She did understand and she didn't hold it against him.

"Thank you for your help and tell Aishe I'm sorry about getting you messed up. She can yell at me later."Â?

With a start Reign wondered if Aishe was also a vampire. It sure seemed likely. Meh, she'd ask later. It wasn't important now. Or maybe it was, if Aishe was one of the people Kem was trying to protect then Reign totally understood.

Regardless Reign stood and walked him to the door. It was just how she'd been brought up. She then closed it, locked it and set the alarm. It was possible they'd try again... and they was more than the four dead guys.
Drew 13 years ago
Drew nodded once. Some how that simple gesture was decisive and a little defiant. He didn't expect Kem to be the source of any additional trouble, but it didn't hurt to make sure he knew that Drew wasn't going to leave Reign unprotected.

He, like Kem, was totally at a loss for what had happened. There was no good reason for it. If some one wanted to go after the Pack there were better ways, and better targets. Other than that Reign, herself, wasn't exactly... well she wasn't a great kidnapping target and he didn't think any one would want her dead. It was messed up and the fact that he couldn't explain it bothered him, a lot.

Well they'd have to talk to the Chief about this and Drew made a note to call the old guys too. Maybe they could think of something, or give him some ideas how to help or at least keep Reign safe. Drew doubted this would be the last attempt.

On a side note, it bothered him a bit that Reign was being so damned nice and understanding of the vampire, any vampire. But then again, for all she was Pack she didn't know... Drew shook his head clear and followed her to the door.

"I think I might be fired."Â?

After all his cover, such as it was, was totally blown. And some how he didn't think ripping a guys throat out while your boss cut another one exactly merited a raise. Talk about hostile working environments. At least Kem had the good taste not to terminate him on the spot.

She grinned at him, it was strained though. He led her back to the living room, picked a kinder gentler movie than she had been watching and then let Reign snuggle against his chest as they lay on the couch and finally go to sleep. He didn't though. Not until well after sunrise, until after she was a wake and alert. Just in case you know.
