A New Vampire's First Hunt. (Attn: Shay))

Ginnie had debated long and hard about who she wanted to go about Shay's first hunt. It would have been easy to just take her to one of the bars Ginnie usually frequented, but there wasn't much sport in it and with out the Glamour it might not be so simple for Shay. She had no idea how others hunted with out the glamour in that kind of setting and so she chose this one. She and Shay lay on their bellies on a roof top in the Industrial District, watching a major drug trafficking spot. Ginnie shifted slightly so that her Browning stopped trying to grind itself through her rib. She wore black leather pants, a black t-shirt with a Rebel Flag and the proclamation "The South Will Rise Again!" beneath it and on the back it said, "Right after we balance the budget and discover warp drives," her kevlar, a black leather coat, and her long curls piled under a black gimmie cap. She was armed to the teeth.

"The trick is to pick your target either when they enter the ally or just as they leave, before the drugs have entered their system. Or we can wait for the opportune moment and take out the dealers. Most dealers don't use the smack they sell." Her words were barely more than breath, but she knew Shay could hear her.

"We'll watch until you're ready to move. Then we follow the plan we went over in the car."

Nodding absently, Shay didn't even feel the blanket when Ginnie placed it around her shoulders. She did feel somehow comforted though, and relaxed against the back of the seat. Seeing the control Ginnie had over the ability surely contributed to Shay's calm.

Shay did wish the whole 'episode' hadn't happened so fast, so she might have now been able to analyze it better. But when she tried to relive it in her mind, it was all pretty much just a blur of motion.

"I've heard of that. Telekinesis...but I think of turning on lights from across the room, or maybe picking up some discarded clothing from the floor...but not as a means of controlling someone else's actions...thats just too...

...wow."

She spoke in awe as she admitted her feelings. It was one thing to think of Ginnie doing something like that. Her mother was a seasoned vampire with years of experience under her belt. Shay was too new to this whole vampirism, to now have yet another skill to worry over.

Yet, on the other hand she might count herself lucky. For all intents and purposes, Shay was a young hatchling, learning about life and almost everything from the ground up now. What better time to add in yet another subject to be taught about.

And, to add to Shay's good luck...Ginnie was an expertise in this subject. So there.

Staring out the window of the SUV, Shay didn't really see anything. She found herself becoming more and more excited about the discovery though, and the closer they got to the Domicile, the more enthusiastic she became. Not only did she look forward to telling Alec, but she also grinned devilishly when she contemplated showing Dayle her new gift.

"It really is a gift, isn't it. Or will be, once I learn how to control it."

The only thing Ginnie had mentioned, that Shay didn't agree with at all, was the part about going to bed. And much like a petulant teen, Shay felt her hackles rise at the thought.

But knowing Ginnie was only thinking about what was best for Shay, she didn't comment.

More and more Shay could see the pains Ginnie took, to show, guide, and teach Shay, and more and more Shay seemed to sense a growing feeling between the two women. While not sure, Shay imagined these feelings, that she shared as well, must be a form of love.

Catching herself staring at the woman driving in the seat next to her, Shay quickly glanced back at the rode ahead. Pulling the blanket tighter around herself, and snuggling the seat, Shay guessed it might not be a terrible idea to get to bed early.

Ginnie smiled. She remembered the first time her own ability had manifested. Her husband/sire had been ecstatic and had shown her a great deal about how to use it. She had been lucky to have a good teacher and she would do her best to be a good teacher for Shay in this area as well. "It's not really controlling his actions, you can't get inside his head and force his brain to act. Think of it more like he was a living piece of furniture. Just one more thing you can pick up."

She didn't know if Shay would accept that explanation, but it was the best she had. She glanced over as often as was safe and caught the grin on Shay's face.

"Yes, my dove, it is a gift. A great one."

Ginnie chuckled softly, and went back to concentrating on the road. She loved the feeling of power the SUV's height gave her and could truly sink into the driving and enjoy it. Before too long she was pulling into the parking garage of the Domicile.
