Batteries for Wesley (open)

Wesley had been to the library in the morning just after the meeting with his electrical engineering instructor Professor Wahts. He had his laptop with him, but the damn died on him in the library, it was the third time in just over a week.

"God I hope it's just the battery and not the hard drive,"Â? he thought.

He hadn't planned to spend the day on the strip looking for a battery replacement but that was task. There were two Electronics stores close to each other so the prospects looked good.

He let her enter first as he answered her, “Met a couple of chaps the other night. Seemed very nice too, but not much past that.”

He thought back about is falling asleep on poor Nic. Was embarrassing to say the least, him leaving and Wesley passed out.

“Hay your very interesting also. We show cut historical events up some time and bisect it a tad. That would be fun, didn’t you think?”

Suki got the feeling that even though Wesley had been in town since the begining of the semester, he didnt get out much. Her smile was wide and pleased as he mentioned meeting people. It was easy to meet people, it was the keeping in touch with them that was difficult. His compliment made her blush for a moment.

"Thank you. I would really like to get together again and discuss history with you."

Realizing that her free time to hang out was seriously curtailed this week and the upcoming weeks she thought to explain should he try to set up a time.

"Things should settle down in about three weeks. The house my employer had build for him and his fiance is almost done, I just have to chase down the last details and the interior designer. Then they are having a party to celebrate. But after that, I should be pretty available during the day."

“Good then. Can I call next week, toward the end and set up a gab together for the weekend?” he asked.

He was full of hope she would agree. She was friendlier then he had hoped for. Everything about he was positive and he felt comfortable, completely comfortable with her. So why not ask.

"Sure thing! That sounds great."

The waitress behind the counter put the cardboard cup of chai on the counter and looked questioningly to Wesley after stating the price. Suki had never been in this coffee house, as she did not always make it down this far on the strip. It had a great name though, Coffee of Doom. Cute and fiesty, like the baristas behind the counter. Stepping to the side she dug in her purse to find the proper cash for her drink.

Wesley was surprised she only got coffee and felt something was up with her.

“May I buy your coffee for you?” he asked.

Wesley would be disappointed if she ended the encounter as he had hoped to have chili with her. But life is always unpredictable so he would accept it gracefully.

“No chili then?” he asked.

Suki frowned slightly, trying to recall what she had said earlier. Knowing she probably spoke too quickly and mumbled what she would enjoy before work she apologized to her companion.

"I am sorry, I had probably sped through my prior comments. I wanted some chai. Which is a spiced tea with milk. Unfortunately I do not have time to sit down and eat. Much as I would love to extend our visit Wesley. Thank you for the wonderful fun this evening. I am so happy to have met you."

The PDA in her purse chimed. Its little alarm was sounding thirty minutes for her to get to work which should be enough but she liked to be in slightly early to help the person she was relieving wrap up. Rather than be sad that she had to go to work, she resolved to be pleased to have made a wonderful new friend.

Wesley had never come across the term for the beverage she had ordered. So it was quite embarrassing to find out the truth of it.

"Truly sorry... I had thought it was chilli. Foot in mouth again,"Â? he stumbled his words at her.

The real problem for him was his mind moving on to something else before finishing what was hand. It was the trite of the creative mind, to be constantly self-talking over this or that problem to solve or tackle. He really did need a class in listening skills.

Her announcement of departure was a slight disappointing surprise, but he covered it well.

"Then I will contact you next week. If, of course, if you are still open to it?"Â? he said.

"I will be looking forward to your call. It was so nice meeting you Wesley." Deciding a hug may be too much for having just met, Suki offered her hand. It was nice to meet such an interesting person.

Mentally cursing the House for not being able to find a waitperson with enough fortitude and talent to take care of things causing them to continually call her in to cover shifts. Still she was responsible enough to know that she needed to hurry to make it to the sewer entrance in time.

"I'll call then, thanks for your willingness to visit today," Wesley smiled.

His right hand clasped Suki's hand. He had truly enjoyed his short encounter with her and held hopes they would pick up later where they left off.

Smiling widely at her new friend she waved briefly and then headed out the door. She knew it was rude to allow him to buy her chai then take off but she could not reschedule work. Cyrus had shown the guy the HoP had hired was incompetant to even wash the floors let alone serve drinks with his skittish demeanor.

Walking swiftly she put the Strip behind her and soon entered the industrial district. Finding a close manhole cover she slipped down and made her way to work. For some reasy she felt giddy about having made a new friend.

((Suki out. Thank you for letting me join you!))

Wesley stayed a bit to finish his coffee and enjoy the public setting. He tended to close the world out and look to his own entertainment in thinks he enjoyed. This, he knew, was not altogether healthy but he did it anyway.

His coffee finished to it's last sip, Wesley head home to work on something he had in his mind. His instructor had asked for a idea what his thesis would cover. He was just in basic stages of figuring that out and felt rushed by the instructor.

(OOC exit Wesley from thread... thanks Suki for the play. Looking forward to second meeting.)
