Description (if an NPC) or name of your creator(if a PC):
Dawn was turned during the confusion of the Los Angeles riots of 1992 by Hyung-Minh Ko. Ko was impressed with her effective defense of a local store, fending off looters with her loud screams and extremely brutal use of a pole and broken glass until the surge of confusion passed. Her dedication and diligence to her cause was extremely appealing...as he had been seeking a student to bring into the fold for the long haul. At just over 200, he was still a relative newcomer to Anataya, and was seeking to pass on the learning of his mentor, showing his own dedication to his Order. Both her dedication to her task and the youthful fire that she exhibited made him believe that she would be a valuable addition, with some tempering. Even after collapsing from fatigue, she attempted to fight him off.

That was the story of their lives even after the event...she would fail to fight him off. Aside from the shared discipline of martial practice, they were ever at odds, but Ko simply had more experience to bring to bear. Ko was staid and traditional where Dawn was loud and obnoxious. He was meditative where she was discordant. He was collected where she was fiery. It was destined that she would leave...but likewise, her lack of foresight allowed him to shape where she would go. He was disappointed to be sending his first student away for training after only a decade, but their incompatibility was reducing her ability to learn and could eventually sour their connection. He did learn from his error, but it still chafes him a bit.

Personal History (Please be detailed, this creates your basis for your character)

Dawn grew up in the greater Los Angeles area as a child of mixed heritage in a very large, abusive household. As a result, life was a bit difficult in the somewhat insular Asian and Hispanic communities. Her father was very much in his own world of business and practice, and as a result was somewhat neglecting of his seven children. He was certainly uncaring to the amount of physical and mental abuse that their mother would dole out on her and her siblings. The crowning achievement for Dawn was being tied up and shoved into the bottom shelf of the linen closet for days at a time as a pre-teen. As a result of the varied abuses, the children spent a good deal of time on the street and participating in gang activity of one variety or another. This, of course, would lead to increased abuse at home, reduced time at home, and ultimately all of the children ran away at least once. Her oldest brother died when she was twelve of multiple stab wounds. She started learning Muay Thai from her father at this point, as she was the only remaining family member interested. Her oldest sister drowned after deliberately driving her car into the Pacific. The younger siblings were all overmedicated and in and out of detention facilities. Dawn was disowned when she went to authorities about her mother's abuse. She spent two weeks couch surfing and homeless in April of 1992 before the riots. Two days before things got strange, she was given a job at a music store working for a friend's family, which was the site of her transformation.

Life with Ko was very, very different and she was utterly unprepared for it. Taking her out into the desert for extended periods of time, she felt acutely lonely in such open space and always had difficulty focusing. She was enthralled by the flowing motion, but couldn't find a place of stillness to focus around...her inner core was a pulsing thing that demanded noise and activity. Meditation practice was a nightmare for her. As such, she learned many of the motions, but had trouble understanding the energies that Ko was describing. After years of trying, she knew that she'd have to find a new teacher, a new place, a new start. She'd run into people from the old neighborhood, one of her siblings tracked her down...the city wasn't as welcoming as before. Sensing her growing discomfort, Ko started planting the seed that would get her to Nachton. Perhaps the clan would have more luck with her than he had...and it was one of the few American cities that would be large enough for her to be very, very comfortable in.
