Reflecting

He ran as fast as his chest would allow his lungs to breathe. It stung so deeply he felt like his heart was tearing him open from the inside. He had been rested for so long and now the icey air filled him with life. The turning of the girl Fallon had taken so much more than he could have ever imagened.

A low and deep howl made him grin. She had picked up his scent and was gaining on him. He made a quick bee line through some brush and saw what would cut off his trail. Without a second thought he jumped into the water of the large over grown pond, head first. It perhaps was man made at one time, but it was large now and he wouldnt be able to make it out to the center before she caught up with him. He stopped midway to the center and stood upright crossing his arms.

She howled again and he saw her. Her large massive head was hard to miss in the moonlight. Another howl, but this time it seemed to be a whine. It was almost as if she was calling him a cheat. He laughed as she jumped in after him.

Birseis you old hound. Water is totally fair and legal. You still found me didn't you?

He scruffed her behind the floppy ears now soaking wet and growing icicles. He walked out from the water and she paddled next to him until her feet fully touched the ground. As they exited the water Panos found a nice boulder to heave himself up on. Birseis layed next to the stone. He sighed and looked off into the distance.

He could see the Marina from afar, it's tiny lights dancing on the waterfront. He smiled and wondered how Fallon had fared during his little remission. He would have to put some thought into finding her soon.

Sliding off the boulder with relative ease he had an itching feeling. It started under his skin deep in his bones and rippled through his tendons.

Birseis whined and barked at him and he smiled.

Yes, flea bag. Its time to feed, perhaps we think about finding Fallon later?

He knew if he absolutely wanted to he could put Birseis on Fallons trail and find her. That would take the fun out of it though. He would have to stop by and see old aunt Chrys sometime soon too.
