Favorite Family, part 2

There were so many easier ways to feed, but this really let him get into the minds of the humans and gain a better understanding of what had been missed in his own past. He could get a quick snack anywhere, but this was more like eating at a favorite diner. Sure, the lines were sometimes really long, but you knew what to expect and were never unpleasantly surprised by the food.

With some applied electronics, Alec was allowed to view the lives of the Mullar family without either intrusion or worry of being caught. He had access to every room in the house and was getting to know them fairly well. Greg Sr. was coming to terms with his own mortality, and would likely be entering some sort of "life crisis" mode in the near future. Ingrid was completely unaware of the growing problem, but was totally devoted to her family. Rare to see, and refreshing. Greg Jr. was your general jock and party boy...but there had to be a softer edge somewhere. He was dating a writing major at a local college, apparently. He hadn't caught her on screen yet - Greg seemed to think that his father wouldn't approve for some reason. He hoped that the character development would be interesting for the young man. Holly was his favorite character on this little sit-com. She was chipper, sarcastic, brilliant, flippant, studious and always provided the family with whatever plot hook was needed for the week. She was a handful, that's for sure. He reminded her a lot of a tamed down Odessa.

God. Odessa. He wondered how crazy was doing out in LA.

Anyway, this particular evening, Greg had told the family that he was heading out with Seth Adams. In reality, he was meeting with his college girl, Simone, but Seth was always good for a cover story and hadn't let him down once...though there had been a close call involving the listing of people at a certain event. Seth pleaded inebriation and saved the day again, of course, despite the tongue lashing it earned from first Ingrid and likely later on from Ma Adams, as Ingrid had placed a call to his mother.

Holly was supposedly grounded, but instigated an argument with her father and had stormed from the house. Greg didn't seem to understand what the fight was about (which wasn't unusual) and didn't chase after her (also not unusual), and was blissfully unaware that she'd made plans to meet someone later that night. Alec wondered why they hadn't installed GPS trackers into Holly's purse, but then most people didn't think in those terms. Ingrid came to comfort Greg and commiserate over their daughter, and then they went to bed.

"Well, that wasn't too exciting. It seems like I really didn't miss out on too much. Maybe next time I'll trail one of the kids on their evenings." Flipping off the grid, Alec went out for some fast food - a Columbian shopkeeper with a full, robust flavor. The man would wake up shortly - he was in good health.
