A Meeting with Carol

Lotus exited the elevator into a large circular room. Granite covered every surface, immaculately clean. She could see her reflection. She scanned the paintings on the walls, recalling memories of time spent with the artists. She had a soft spot for such talent. Her heels clicked softly as she continued toward the reception desk. The silence was deafening. She sat her duffle bags on the ground, and placed her laptop briefcase on the counter. She flashed a smile, knowing that Carol would see her. "Nice place", she thought to herself, eyes still wandering around the room.

She heard a door click open, turned and smiled at Carol.

'I can't think of anything. Just stay near the alley ways when hunting and no one should give you any problems.' Simon put his hand on her shoulder, he hoped, in a friendly manner. He wanted her to feel welcomed in the clan, not just obligated to it. Still, he had to give the speech.

'Oh, one more thing. I know you probably already know, but it needs to be said.' With his hand still on her shoulder, he looked down at the young vampire. She really wasn't that much younger, but being new to Nachton and the central hub of the clan, things needed to be clear.

'Do not fuck up,' he said softly. Simon hoped he didnt need to say anything else. He gave her shoulder a soft squeeze and then held the door open for Carol to follow.

Carol gave Lotus a grin as she walked passed Simon.

'Oh, we'll hit House of Pain later if you like, show you around.' With a wave, she walked off.

Not used to being touched, Lotus was startled when Simon put his hand on her shoulder. She had spent the majority of her life by herself, bouncing from one city to the next, one country after another. She had only recently begun doing more humane things, like socializing. But still, being touched by a stranger felt odd. Simon wasn't trying to intimidate her, she knew that much. His tone was soft and friendly.

Lotus smirked, "I'll try not to disappoint, sir."

"Let me know when, I'd love to go." she directed at Carol.

Dying for a bite to eat, Lotus hurriedly dragged her two duffel bags to her room. She began tossing her clothes on nearby chairs. Even after all these years she still couldn't be bothered to keep a tidy room. Finishing up, she took a moment to look at her new home. She walked out of the apartment, and continued down the hall to the elevator. She was starved.
