Shopping, Spa, Swimming

Ana vaguely felt defensive at Rorri's offhanded comment, "poor american girls, don't even know how to shop for clothing," and stammered before responding. "Well, I was never taught. My father never understood womens' clothing and I never had a fashionable friend in school. The best fashion I wore was a Girl Scout's uniform. Everything else I've cobbled together by what I thought looked 'good' and felt nice."

Rorri giggled and waved at Ana in a way that said it wasn't an issue and went over to talk to the spa attendents. After a few moments she returned with Ana's glasses and handed them to her.

"Here ye go dearie, please be careful where ye let others put them alright?" Rorri stated in a soft concerned tone.

Ana slipped her glasses back on with relief. Now able to see the woman she collided with, she turned and offered apologies. Then, turning to Suki, she offered copious thanks. "Thank you for helping me and examining my foot. I'd hate for my first spa treatment to be cut short by a visit to the emergency room."

It was then that Ana spied the placard naming the room the employee had come out of. "Medical Station." Giggling suddenly, then uncontrollably, she pointed at the sign, laughing and snorting softly. When she regained control of herself, a sudden urge overcame her. Crossing her legs, ladylike, she asked meekly, "Where's the nearest ladies' room?"

Suki had not realized that Ana had been exposed in more way than one by the tumble. She currently had her hand over her mouth and was trying her hardest not to laugh at the entire situation.

Somehow she managed to mumble out a quiet
"Happy to help." before her silent laughter made her cover her whole face.

When she heard Ana laughing the giggles burst forth. Hurrying to the room she just left so as not to offend the women, Suki resumed puting on her socks and boots.

Rorri just looked at the fleeing Ana and then over to Suki and shook her head.

"I really just don't get ye yanks...not one bit at all..." She sighed.

Ana heard Rorri's offhanded comment as she disappeared into the ladies' room indicated by the spa employee. Quickly relieved, she washed her hands, made sure she hadn't gotten cut, scraped, burnt, or abraded when she fell, and returned to her new friend.

Was Rorri her friend? Ana thought so. They really did need to learn more about each other, though. And Rorri needed to learn that not only did she not have to order Ana around, she didn't need to "buy" Ana's friendship. "Then again... that may be the only way she knows -how- to make friends," Ana conjectured.

When she reached our friend, she repeated Rorri's comment as best she could, in an (admittedly rather bad) approximation of an English accent,
"Of course ye don't get Yanks. Ye'r'n't one." She gave Rorri a soft kiss on the cheek and said blushingly without accent, "Though you got a Yank's glasses, so maybe you'll eventually get the Yank."

The show of affection caught Rorri by surprise, though the horrid accent Ana used made her smile, even as she blushed.

"W...well...that would be an interesting catch now wouldn't it!" She giggled as she looked up at Ana and giggled.

"Of course...if I had a yank, what would I do with her?" Rorri giggled as she gave Ana a hug.

"Well first you could help her figure out what to do next in this whole spa business."

Ana cocked her head as she estimated the time. "Though, you have to get her to bed before midnight, because she has to ..." She shook her head, dislodging the third-person speech. "I have an in-important appointment at eight, so I need to be up by six thirty."

She had been about to say "interview," but realized Rorri would question her on the subject. And she wasn't quite ready to explain what she'd gone through in the last eighteen hours.

Ana felt the happy-relaxed smile on her face falter, then she whipped it back up and said,
"So let's go, I can't imagine we have much time left."

Rorri nodded and since they were done here at the spa the two changed and as they prepared to leave Rorri made a point to thank Suki.

"Thank ye for yer invaluable help, if ye ever wish to chat I'm on the forty-first floor." She stated with a smile.

Suki was at the hostess desk. Signing the bill that would be placed on Cyrus' account at the hotel. It felt very decadent to know she was not paying for the day of luxury. As Ana and Rorri came into the lobby, Suki smiled at them.

"Thank you very much. It was my pleasure to meet you both. Take care"

She waved to both of them as she exited the door and took the elevator down.

((Suki out. Thanks for letting me join.))

Rorri gave a goodby wave as she departed, the spa billing already deferred to her suite.

"Still up for a swim dearie?" She asked Ana as she wondered about the earlier yank comment. She was worried that Ana's early bedtime would impede their plans and she very much wanted to have some company in the social light tonight.

(^_^)

PS: Anytime Suki!

"A swim?" Ana was still slightly confused about the whole "spa now swim later" order of things they'd taken. She still thought all of the efforts expended in the spa would be wasted from time spent in chlorinated water...

"I'd love a swim. But well I don't do more than just swim slowly in one direction, since I can't see, and haven't had swimming glasses in years. And I'm still confused about whether or not the treatments we just underwent in the spa would be wasted, seeing as how we'll be hopping into cool-to-warm chlorinated water."

There. She'd said her piece... Maybe a good explanation would come out of it; maybe not. She really did want to go swimming, though. It had been so long.

Of course, the last time ended with a trip to the emergency room. When she reached for the edge of the pool, she missed - unable to detect the distance to the ledge - and her hand came down on a bee in the water.

Bees shouldn't be a cause for concern, though, not in an enclosed hotel with a pool in the middle of winter.

Rorri seemed to think about that for a moment before nodding with a sigh.

"Sod, but yer right, I guess I hadn't thought about it that way...so then...what does the yank wanna do?" Rorri asked with a playful giggle.

She wondered what would tickle Ana's fancey, then again she could imagine herself just as easily tickling Ana!

Ana shrugged expressively. "I don't know. I'm just as much a newbie in this town as you are."

Then Ana realized Rorri might not know what a "newbie" is, so she explained, "I mean, I've never been here before today, so I don't know what the town has to offer. 'Newbie' means completely new to something."

Ana found that Rorri had led them back to the changing rooms. With an excusing smile, she stepped away from Rorri to dress.

"My first instinct would be to say 'go back to our rooms and go to bed.' But since I don't know what time it is," she said with a frown, brandishing her dead-battery cellphone, "it just may be too early for that. So alternately we could see about dessert, though I kind of want something quiet. It's too cold to sit on a balcony somewhere, and probably too late to go for a walk. We could see if the hotel has a movie room and watch a movie, or just go somewhere and chat."

Ana realized she was rambling. Rorri was the first person outside of Olivia who'd tried to befriend her. Something quiet and low-key was her greatest desire, though. She never was much for large social gatherings, like parties or clubs. Too loud, too many people.

"Wanna go to my room and order some room service and a movie perhaps?" Rorris asked in a soft tone with a small innocent, yet shy, smile.

It just seemed the perfect thing to say at that moment.
Montana 18 years ago
Ana's brow furrowed as she pondered Rorri's suggestion. "Room service might not be such a good idea. That's why I came down to the restaurant. I didn't get a room service delivery for three hours. Comparitively, the rest of the hospitality at the hotel has been wonderful. That's why I'd been arguing with the maitre'd... He didn't want to hear that. I'm sure that you with your more sophisticated accent might get better results, though. And I didn't even get a chance to see what movies might be playing. I have wanted to see Harry Potter. Though I'm not too picky. Just nothing with blood."

That last word Ana had said almost haltingly. She'd never been a fan of horror movies. But today... she didn't want to see any blood for any reason.

Rorri looked at her and giggled.

"A Potter fan are we?" She snickered with an amused look.

"Ye yanks are all in love with that brat aren't ye?"
Montana 18 years ago
Ana shook her head. "Nah, Neville's more interesting. Being Harry's significant other could only lead to tears or a grave. At least Neville's quiet and unassuming."

They'd reached the elevator. Ana hadn't realized they'd walked so far while talking. "Which floor is your room on?" she asked, finger poised in the middle of the bright bank of buttons, ready to push that one indicated.
Rorri Rosethorne 18 years ago
"The forty first please." Rorri replied softly with a smile as she looked up at Ana.

Ana's finger darted forward quickly, then stopped before jamming her now-manicured nail into the ornate button. "Almost forgot I'm all pretty-fied now." Angling her wrist she gently pushed the button with the pad of her finger, and leaned against the brass-mirrored wall.

Eyes drifting closed, she mumbled,
"I'm glad there's no elevator music, though."
